This is one of the larger junk tourist shops right by the cruise ship docks in Ketchikan. They sell a ton of crap that's made in China, so buyer beware. Some of the goods are local, but not many, and you'll pay a nice markup due to the shop's easily accessed location. The shop is large, clean, spacious, and well organized. This could easily be your one-stop-shop if you're looking for Alaska souvenirs. They have keychains, shot glasses, t-shirts, stuffed animals, tote bags, rain gear, snacks and sweets and more. Sockeye Sam's also has the largest selection of raincoats, umbrellas, and sweatshirts, all staples that a lot of cruisers often forget to pack. I appreciate that the store sells various sundries (Advil, bandaids, etc.) and small toiletries, too. If you're arriving in Ketchikan via cruise ship, you will walk right by this store. They pretty much have everything you need to take goodies to the folks back home. Pro tip: visit a local grocery store if you want to find really cool Alaska souvenirs. I've purchased locally made hot sauces, candies, and other goodies for a fraction of the price that they're sold for in tourist stores like these. read more

Seriously the best prices in all of the Alaskan ports we visited. We all bought matching Ketchikan sweatshirts for $19.99 everyone has complimented us on how cute. They are great quality. Such an amazing selection of souvenirs. They had great selection beautiful hand carved Ulue knives. Very reasonably priced. The service was exceptional. We even were helped by "Sockeye Sam" and his beautiful wife. They've owned it since 1990. It's definitely mom and pop Walmart of souvenirs. This is a MUST SEE. you would be disappointed. read more

just now New In 2023 I was on an Alaskan Cruise that stopped in Ketchikan. I stopped here and loved the selection and reasonable price of the souvenirs. I also loved how nice the staff was - offering to hold my purchases for me to grab before going back to the ship and also offering to ship it to my home if I wanted. Fast forward to 2025, and my husband had damaged his souvenir shirt I got him from here. I reached out via email and they sold me the same shirt and shipped it to my home in California. I am so happy with how responsive and nice they were with this strange request a few years later. read more

This shop was nicely lit, spacious and well organized. For being such a nice store the prices seemed on par with other places. if not better! The staff was extremely friendly and accommodating. Wish I had more time to spend in this store as we were in a bit of a rush to get back to the ship. I did find a neat wooden totem magnet . Don't forget to get your bear photos outside. Being so close to the ships we thought this would be a rip off, but it's actually a great deal! We bought hats here and lots of food- the taffy in salmonberry and fireweed and the gummies in huckleberry and salmonberry- all delicious. Really fun stuff. Great place to find quality clothing/souvenirs and conveniently located. They even had branded Under Armour Alaska clothing. And the staff are so sweet! When checking out Cookie mentioned that my shirt might be a little too big that I grabbed - and I had to tell her that there were no other sizes and I really liked it. While she was going to ship it to me for free when the correct size came in. She called up the warehouse nearby and put me in touch with Tyler who met me at the shuttle to give me the correct size. Fantastic gift shop! Stopped by here while cruising and was in desperate need of a cute umbrella and found the most perfect Alaska umbrella. Apparently, the salmon here is cheaper than the other souvenir shops in town, so if you're smart - you'd want to shop here for "sockeye salmon". Huge selection of merchandise at reasonable prices, but what is more important is their customer service. I could not find my AirPods the next day when I was back on the ship. I called the store, spoke with a great guy named Dan and he had his staff look thru the store (the Find My) app said it was last seen there. He kept me apprised with a phone call and text. We stopped in the store on Thursday (15th) what a great selection, wonderful prices and very friendly staff. We found some very cute little stuffies for our little grandchildren and a vest for me. Once at the cash register I saw they had cute whale tale necklaces, added one to my purchase. But......was so sad when I got back on board to find that that the necklace was not in my bag, guess it was somehow missed. We stopped into this store while in port in Ketchikan. We saw it on our way out for the day and decided that we would stop in on the way back to our cruise ship because we liked that it was run by an Alaskan family. I hate getting lost in the mix of Diamonds International, etc. that can happen when in a cruise port. We visited two sites in Ketchikan with totems so we were hoping to find a good souvenir to take home. When we went in, the store was very large with a good selection of tshirts, sweatshirts, jewelry, etc. My husband and I spent a lot of time looking that the hand carved totems. A saleswoman walked up and said that they were all made in Ketchikan which meant that if we purchased them later in the cruise, they would likely be more money. We ended up picking a totem and making the purchase. She definitely told us the truth!! After time in Skagway and Seward where I also saw the totems, I looked at prices and they were at least $20 more. I appreciated the thought and would happily recommend Sockeye Sams. read more

I purchased a carved eagle at Sockeye Sams on July 13, 2012 while on a cruise. They told me they would ship it on July 20, the following friday. It is now August 5 and I still have not received it. I have tried calling and and all I get is an answereing machine, I did reach a live person one time and explained my problem and she said she would check into it a get back to me.
