Our experience with this outpatient program was extremely disappointing. Communication was…read moreinconsistent, and we often felt that important expectations were never clearly explained until after problems arose. We voluntarily sought treatment for mental health after a hospitalization because he wanted help. Instead of feeling supported, he felt unheard and uncomfortable with his assigned therapist. After expressing concerns and requesting a different counselor, we were met with responses that did not address the issues we raised. My concerns were addressed then told to me my husband was lying to me. We were also surprised to receive a letter outlining requirements that we believe had not been clearly communicated beforehand. Rather than working collaboratively to resolve misunderstandings, the approach felt punitive and threatening, which increased stress during an already difficult time. Mental health treatment depends on trust, transparency, and open communication. Unfortunately, that was NOT our experience. We hope the program improves how it communicates expectations to patients and responds when legitimate concerns are raised to help future patients. The whole experience was unprofessional and disrespectful. The quality of care is horrendous I would NOT ever recommending this facility AT ALL!

I have been quite hesitant to write a review about this craphole of a psych hospital but it does…read moreneed to be addressed if it already hasn't been. 8 years ago I had a severe relapse of my neuropsychiatric condition that began back in 2009. 8 years ago I was transferred to this hospital from Stony Brook University hospital and man was I in for a rude awakening! Don't let the outside of the place fool you, disguised as a homely location with flowers and all. The care is very subpar and almost nonexistent. I've never been treated with such disrespect. The nurses were rude and almost had a holier-than-thou attitude about the patients here, it's as almost if they didn't really care at all and was just there for the paycheck. I could not even talk to the medication nurse as she was unbelievably snappy and curt. Even the doctors were unprofessional. They don't fully listen to your immediate concerns, not using careful deductive logic & input from the patient and not only that but over-prescribe you meds that you probably don't even need. (I know I didn't, since then I have successfully tapered off most of those medications, SUCK ON THAT!) I also could not sleep at all because of the other patients making noise and being a constant threat to my safety and sanity. We were often mixed in as general population inmates in a prison and you never know whether you've made a friend or an enemy. Sharing rooms with others was pure hell. The suicide watches were disturbing as someone who is always watching a patient while you're trying to sleep. Who the hell wants someone there watching while you sleep!? Uncomfortable. The front desk would not take your requests seriously, at one point I complained that the heating was set way too hot and they said that the plumbers were working on it. Days later, and we're still in 80 degree heat. Unpleasant. In short, this was no picnic, it was hell. I think I might have actually gotten worse while there, so I opted to leave after 2 or 3 weeks. (thanks to my family and my brother who angrily said to the staff that did not belong there!) I instead preferred to recover at home which provided me the quiet and safety I needed for my unique position as I was very sensitive and am a shy quiet individual. I'm glad to report I am doing much better 8 years later living my best life and can speak freely when I say that this place ABSOLUTELY SUCKS! IT DID NOTHING FOR ME - If you ever have a crisis, DO NOT GO HERE. PERIOD. (I only gave a 2-star review as it wasn't all completely bad. The food was delicious and tasty, almost gourmet. I even enjoyed the turkey sandwiches they brought out after late-night, it was the only thing that calmed me in there. She has called me back in the middle of night when my children were babies and I was overly concerned. She has come in on the weekend to see my kids when they were sick. She came to hospital at night after one of my children was born to check in. She came to hospital when one of my children had surgery. Her office may need upgrading, but I would rather have her knowledge and care for my child than an office that is modern and updated and have my child be just another number with no care. She is and always will be the best pediatrician!

I've seen Dr. Jasjit Singh referred by my ENT doctor, in order to check me out for imbalance…read moreissues, nothing else, as it states on my referral. However, he asked me some questions about anxiety, but I told him, that I just have some stress and trouble sleeping due to a job loss and the uncertainty of unemployment. I knew, where this was going, so I told him clearly, that I'm not depressed and I don't want any anti-depressants, because they have severe side effects like suicidal and homicidal thoughts, so I want to stay away from garbage like Ritalin, etc. He promised to prescribe me something natural and then what did he prescribe? Escitalopram, which has the following side effects: suicidal thoughts or other mood changes, seizures, anxiety, feeling agitated, angry or irritable, racing thoughts, impulsive behavior, restlessness, loss of balance or coordination, loss of memory, hallucination, loss of contact with reality, trouble sleeping, vomiting, increased sweating, etc. He only did some exercises for less, than 5 minutes with me, like hold your arm like this, step forward like that, look left and right, that's it. No instruments, measurements, nothing! When we talked about my off-balance issues, when walking up the stairs, I mentioned on the side to one of his questions, that I have a little forgetfulness. Then he took that word and wrote in his report, that I have loss of memory, which is a lie. If he doesn't know the difference between forgetfulness and loss of memory, then he is not a doctor, but a quack, a charlatan and his medical license should be revoked. I did mention to him, that I needed a report from him based on tests measured by instruments, but he wrote his report without any such exams first. However, he asked me for my ENT records, which I later sent to him, but he shouldn't have based it on another doctor's results, just because he didn't have any instruments and didn't know, where to send me to measure neurological results, not ENT results. He should have had his own measurable exams, but he didn't. So those few exercises were too basic to base any report on. Hence my impression was, that this "doctor" is not a doctor at all, but a cheat, who should be rather called Dr. Pillman, because all, he does, is hand out dangerous anti-depressants like candy, even though I told him specifically, what kind of medication I don't want. Because the Escitalopram, he prescribed, was also an anti-depressant with the same side effects, which caused some killing tragedies in the news, so the FDA and the Health Department shouldn't even allow these anti-depressants to be prescribed and sold at all, because that in and of itself is a crime! And this quack is a willing, immoral servant of the system, so the system won't condemn him, which is why I'm writing my critique here on Yelp, where free speech still exists and customers' opinions still matter, in order to warn other patients NOT to see this "doctor", unless they want to get much sicker, than they already are. Stay away from this charlatan and run as fast, as you can! Save yourselves! Be smart!

Dr. Khanijo is a good pulmonologist, but his office staff leaves much to be desired. They are…read moreimpersonal, and non-empathetic. During the day the plumes of smoke came down from Canada, I was having difficulty breathing and eventually had an asthma attack, I ran out of medication. I called them several times during the day and his office staff was very uncaring. They told me to wait, and after the 4th phone call I did, until 5. When I called back, the office was closed. I called the emergency service and left two messages with the on-call doctor who never called me back, nor did he refill the prescription. I had to call my primary care physician who refilled my asthma medication. I called Dr. Khanijo's office the next day and expressed how I didn't appreciate how I was treated. The receptionist kept telling me she understood. Obviously she didn't or else she would have made sure the doctor received my message. Perhaps she did give him the message and he didn't refill it and went home instead. Whatever the reason, it was not done. She told me he filled it at 5:15 that day, which was a lie. I checked with my Pharmacist and the only prescription they received was from my primary care physician. It was apparent my pulmonologist's office didn't understand what it was like to be an asthmatic who couldn't breathe in a Canadian smoke storm but they did understand throwing up smoke screens instead of taking responsibility for their mistake and making it right. If you are in need of a Pulmonologist, unfortunately I would think twice before choosing this office for your care. There are other great doctors out there with more empathetic office personnel than this one.
