I decided to move forward but the ring I received definitely did not show a quality repair or that they valued my business. I brought the "repaired" ring into Atlas and explained the history and they were SO kind and helpful and I felt very validated and comfortable using them for repair round two. Rolfs Jewelers is that small "mom and pop" business where the business owner is the person doing the work. In my opinion, this tends to lead to a high quality product. It is the jeweler where custom pieces are just as dazzling as those in the case "ready to wear". This is what they have done for me over the years: I have had my Rolex watch overhauled, stones removed from old "dated" settings and custom made into new "updated" settings, heirloom pennant designed and crafted by Scott that incorporated 3 generations of wedding stones. We've cleaned everything (twice), fixed a lot of earrings, re-sized too many rings, bought ready-to-wear pieces, gave my best friend a deal on the diamond earrings she always wanted...need I say more? However, I was disappointed with the lack of transparency regarding their gold pricing. Before selling, I asked multiple times what percentage of the current melt/market value they were paying. I couldn't get a direct answer and was instead told that they don't price it that way and essentially pay what other gold buyers pay. I trusted that and sold some of my gold. Afterward, I did the calculation myself based on the gold's weight, purity, and market price and found that I had received approximately 67% of its melt value. I should have done the math beforehand, but I would strongly recommend that anyone selling gold here calculate its melt value and compare offers before selling.
