Ban was very friendly and attentive, knowledgeable, and made sure my fiance's feelings came first, yet was still honest and not afraid to offer expert opinion. She asked the right questions and let us try everything we asked for, even swapping diamonds in different settings for us to see. We ended up getting a custom band and ring set from her. Their team created a digital 3d mockup and made adjustments on request. The turnaround was very fast and they did a phenomenal job. Not sure if thyou y changed ownership over the years or not. I purchased my wife's wedding right here 14 years ago. "Lifetime warranty" they said. All problems were fixed without questions. Nowadays, they will charge you for every little thing. They also don't tell the truth. Wife took ring in for inspection and they have a $2000 estimate to repair. "Ring was wore and needed many prongs and stones replaced". Went to another Jeweler, showed us under a powerful microscope, $250 to fix. Howard's scams people. Stay away ! read more

I have always done business with them, trusted them, and got the best value for jewelry I would sell. I don't know if there not getting a lot of business with inflation now or what, but they definitely can't be trusted! I went in there yesterday and sold them a 14k white gold ring with beautiful large natural diamonds totally at least 3 carats. She was very adamant that nobody buys natural diamonds anymore so their value went down. Everyone buys lab now. My fault for trusting her and taking the $100... like I said, I trusted them. Come to find out that is far from the truth and I was ripped off! Altho lab diamonds are more common causing the natural diamond to not be as valuable, natural diamonds are still worth significantly higher and my ring was worth a lot more than $100!! . Lesson learned, I hope those beautiful diamonds were worth ripping off a struggling single mom and losing business. read more

I believe that they sold me a ring setting that was missing a tiny diamond. I had them set a center stone in the setting and I didn't like the look of it. I took it to another jeweler and he noticed the tiny diamond was missing and they lasered my center stone in so it would be very difficult to remove. I have never worn the ring so I'm pretty sure that they sent me out the door knowing that it was missing a tiny diamond. read more

Had a diamond pendant I wanted made into a ring. Worked wit Ban and she was extremely helpful and patient. Never pushy and did not try to oversell. She kept in contact sending ring designs before proceeding. Ring came out beautiful and I love it. Went back a couple months later and worked with Ban again to have some emerald studs set into a Huggies type earring with diamonds. Again, Ban was helpful, communicative and stuck within my budget. My husband (53 yrs old) passed away 4 weeks ago. I found a couple hundred dollars in his wallet that I suspected was money he was saving to buy me a 50th bday present or 25th anniversary present with. He would tuck money away throughout the year so I wouldn't know how much he spent on my gift (which was always jewelry).When I found the money I decided to buy a piece of jewelry and found the store (howards) thar he had been buying my jewelry from. I left with a piece that was 3 times what I was comfortable spending (especially now without any income). The sales person didn't ask my budget. I was looking at the sterling silver necklaces and the prices were what I could afford but she said they'd tarnish, that my late husband would have bought me gold and real diamonds (she must have looked at his past purchases. Which he saved many months to buy). So she showed me diamonds and gold and since I was in a sentimental mood, thinking of my husband and this being his last gift to me I ended up spending way too much. Buyers regret kicked in at home and when i looked at the receipt I was sick to see no refunds. It says in articles online I just read that you should not buy from jewelers who won't let you return. I wasn't thinking straight. I was thinking "my husband would want me to have this" when in reality I can't afford it now like I could when he was alive. Know that they will rip yoU off. The staff on the floor is friendly enough but the joker who runs the place is a petty jerk who mistakes being an A-hole for good business sense. I went there to sell an engagement ring. Offered me only $80.00 for an 'IF' Clarity .25 ct solitaire diamond ring on an 18k gold band. Granted it wasn't a large stone but it was virtually flawless. I paid 800.00 for the ring years ago at a different jeweler and they sell similar but lower quality (cloudy) rings at Howard's for 500.00 and up. Ridiculous and insulting of them to offer me 80 bucks...could get a better deal at a pawn shop! I'll not eVer do business with them in the future and will tell everyone i know to avoid that dump Howard's on Van Dyke in Sterling Heights. Place is a barn. read more
