I love love this pediatrician office. Dr.Foregnie, Dr.Cho are incredible, empathetic physicians, the front desk staff is phenomenal. The lactation consultant Lashanda was terrific. My child is almost a year old, and we've been with them since he was born. The first year of a child's life is full of mini crises that aren't really crises (we're first time parents) and we truly couldn't be in better hands. From sending emails to check in on him when he was sick, to having equitable vaccination practices for their clients who are of different financial means, this pediatric office is the definition of holistic, community, care. I almost don't want to write this review because I want to be selfish and keep these amazing doctors to myself. But, after moving outside of the city, I have met a couple doctors who have left such a sour taste in my mouth that I can't believe how lucky I was to have found them for my first born. In fact, I was going to take our newborn to a doctor in our new county, but after seeing them twice, I've decided I just trust Dr. Choe and Dr. Forgenie SO MUCH more. They listen to your concerns and talk to you like you're a human being. They are both super intuitive and get back back to you super quick if you have concerns about your child's health! read more

This is the most unprofessional clinic I've come across by. The customer service is horrible!!! I haven't even made it into the clinic yet and the experience has been terrible. Extremely disappointed, especially since they were highly recommended and have "5 stars" I wouldn't even give them 1 star but that's not an option here. After waiting for 2 weeks for an appointment I was called at 6pm to reschedule an appointment for the next day in the morning. After getting that appointment rescheduled to 5 days later they called again to reschedule that appointment. At this point my new born has missed her new born appointment and is already a month. They keep insisting on trying to get me to see another doctor which I refused to do because this other dr was so "highly recommended". I'm extremely disappointed and will not be going to this clinic. The front desk sound like they don't know what they're doing nor talking about and the communication between them and doctor to the patient is terrible and unacceptable. They have bad time management and communication skills. I do not recommend this Clinic nor Dr. Forgenig to anyone. Save your time and energy. Take your business to someone who would appreciate you and the well being of your child. Especially in these trying time!!! read more

Dr Cho is great with our daughter, but not easily reached. I called asking to get a letter required by the social security office and was given the run around by her front desk staff. Jessica does not provide customer service and was avoiding helping us at all costs. "We can do the letter by late tomorrow afternoon" "Can I hold to speak with Dr Cho?" "Nope" Thank you very much. Be prepared for frustration. I want to be able to reach my daughters doctor. I'll be looking for a new one. read more

This place is great. I am so relieved to discover a decent pediatrician in the neighborhood! The office is spotless and attractive. Dr. Choe is warm and attentive, and the other staff were very friendly and kind as well. We were seen early (!) and I didn't feel our visit was rushed at all. I held off on writing this review although we left the practice 3 months ago. However the level of disregard for customer service, communication and accountability that we continue to encounter with SoHa pediatrics a full 3 months after leaving this practice has compelled me to now warn other new parents. If you want a caring practice that you will be with throughout your child's growth...look elsewhere. My husband and I initially picked SoHa a week before our daughters birth for two reasons. 1. they took our insurance and 2. they are a small practice that promised a relationship and accessibility. We met Dr. Choe in person and i was struck by her pragmatism and knowledge. She made us feel comfortable in a week that was overwhelming. She visited us in the hospital after our daughter was born and again, I felt I was in good hands. Were it not for their administrative practices we might still be with SoHa pediatrics, as I think Dr. Choe is competent and our needs were being met. However, the way this business is run causes confusion, lots of wasted time and tremendous amounts of frustration...all things that new parents would like to avoid. Couple this with nasty attitudes and misinformation from their receptionist and SoHa is a big no. First, after telling us they accepted our insurance, just before our 6 month appointment we found out from our insurance company that SoHa is not in our network and appointments were not covered. Confused, I called them immediately and was told by the receptionist that it was a clerical error and they do in fact accept our insurance and they would 'take care of it'. When we showed up at our next appointment a few weeks later we were told that it had all been straightened out but before the Dr. could see us we had to call Empire and tell them SoHa was our physician of choice because we had selected someone else. I told them I had only ever selected Dr. Choe but they said to just call and it would all be straightened out. After being on hold for 45 minutes in their waiting area, my insurance company told me that Dr. Choe and Soha are in fact not a part of their network. I then sat in a back and forth between my insurance company, Dr. Choe & the receptionist who insisted that they had been told that morning by two different people that they were in the network. All this time, my daughter is waiting for her appointment. I then requested that if they are in fact certain they are part of the Empire network, to please give my daughter her shots and this could be figured out by phone, not with us sitting in the waiting room. Dr. Choe told me that this is something the insurance company does to get between the doctors and their patients and they make it difficult so that we give up. I told her I had no problem taking the time to make sure i's and dotted and t's are crossed but that we had to be sure we were seeing a pediatrician that is covered by our insurance. She assured me we were and that it would all be straightened out. Two months later, a day before our 8 month appointment, the receptionist from SoHa called to say they had to cancel the appointment because they did not take our insurance I was floored. This was supposed to be straightened out two months prior. Additionally the receptionist told me there was a bill from the 6 month appointment we needed to pay for because insurance did not cover it. Her attitude was so nonchalant, so nasty...I couldn't believe it. In fairness...the accounting department who followed up with me apologized profusely, said we had fallen through the cracks and unfortunately they are no longer in the network and don't anticipate being reinstated. They also told me we would not be held responsible for bills because the mistake was on their end and we were told our insurance would be taken. So we found a new pediatrician, who we are happy with...however today, two months later, SoHa charged our credit card over 1K. They did not tell us they would be charging us, they did not provide information on what the charges were for...just out of the blue ran a credit card we had used one time 10 months earlier. They did not have our permission to run these charges. When my husband went there in person the receptionist told him they were writing the email as they were charging the card and provided paperwork for us to sort out with Empire. We have reported them as fraudulent to our bank until it is straightened out. The above is our experience with SoHa pediatrics. To say we are disappointed is an understatement. The time and energy we have spent to combat misinformation from SoHa is frustrating. As we are clearly not the first to complain about their administrative practices and their receptionist or to experience frustration at how this practice operates perhaps it is time for Dr. Choe to reexamine these aspects of her business. It can't always be the clients who are wrong....right? read more

Just off of reception, I decided against taking my children there. They were not helpful and their demeanor wasn't great either. If this is reception, chosen by the doctors, how can I have faith in the doctors? I don't know about coming here, even though it is closer than my other pediatrician. read more

Dr. Choe is a wonderful doctor! She's very knowledgeable but also kind and genuinely concerned about your child's needs and your needs. It's difficult to find a doctor who is both smart and compassionate. Her office is clean and welcoming and her appointments go as scheduled. You rarely have to wait and when you do, it's only for 10 or 15 minutes. I live in the west 90's so I have to walk a bit to get to her office but I don't mind at all. I took my 7 months son to see Dr Choe right after we moved to this neighborhood 2 years ago. We've been seeing her ever since. She is knowledgeable, caring and to the point when talking to parents. I know I can always trust her with her knowledge and expertise, which helps calm my first time mom anxiety. She is so warm and gentle with the kid. Dr. Forgenie has been my daughter's primary doctor for about 3 years now, she's very warm, caring and welcoming. She takes a warm hearted interest in my child that I love to see. We see Dr. Cho when she's not available and she is also great. Never had a problem with any staff; whenever I need any documents they are very reliable and prompt! Great establishment. read more

We've had consistent issues with Dr. Choe and her medical staff. I will say that she has always been available to speak via email and on the phone, which was particularly helpful when our first son was a baby. However, she is usually short, cold, and judgmental on the phone, and in person. We often leave interactions with her, where we have legitimate medical questions surrounding our two small children, feeling stupid and embarrassed for even asking, and without a solid grasp on the answers she provided. Sometimes it seems as though she isn't even hearing our questions, but is giving us a cookie-cutter response that doesn't fit. Even my kids dislike seeing Dr. Choe, because she makes THEM feel bad! Her nurses and secretaries are consistently rude, and often seem as if they don't know how to manage the bureaucracy of our currently health insurance system. We have had MULTIPLE conversations with our health insurance company when SoHa pediatrics claims we weren't covered, but we were. And have written and verbal proof from the health insurance company that we were covered. SoHa still made us pay out of pocket. I will say that Dr. Choe's partnering physician, Dr. Forgenie, is wonderful. She almost makes up for everything else SoHa lacks. She is warm, responsive, great with our kids, and always leaves us feeling heard, answered, and relieved. If you do decide on SoHa Pediatrics, be sure you request Dr. Forgenie. read more

I have been coming here since my daughter was born and now for my son ! So more than two years. I see dr forgenie and she is a great pediatrician. Nice bed side manners, very informative, non judgmental and caring. She shows that she cares for my children and I appreciate that. The office is very nice and clean. There are some days we have to wait a while to see the dr and others days we see her right away. Highly recommend ! read more

Dr. Cho is great, but unfortunately so difficult to get in touch with, you always have to talk to the lady at the reception - which is a nightmare!!!! she has worst customer service ever! I've only had good experiences at Soha pediatrics. We've taken our daughter there since she was born. Dr. Choe is smart, knowledgeable, and warm. I had a health problem that could affect breast feeding, an she emailed me additional information after the appointment! I really don't understand basing a review on the friendliness of the receptionist when answering the phone. For one, both Ashley and Dr Choe have always been helpful and friendly in person. I LOVE SoHa Pediatrics! I've been coming here with my four children since Dr. Choe first opened. She and Dr. Forgenie are two of the best pediatricians I've ever encountered. They sit with my children and talk to them. They're interested in what's going on in their lives. The appointments are never rushed, and the staff is very kid-friendly. I learned of SoHa Pediatrics this summer while I was due with my second child. While I had been attending a different practice in the UWS for a number of years with my first child, I was eager to take a look at SoHa Pediatrics due to its convenient location (many mothers in this neighborhood, including me, have noted the need for a reliable pediatrician close-by). I found the offices clean, spacious and welcoming. More importantly, Dr. Choe was extremely warm and helpful, as was Nurse Natalia. It has now been over 3 months since I started taking both of my children to see Dr. Choe and our experience has been wonderful. Dr. Choe is great with both my newborn and toddler (getting my toddler to the doctor, and more importantly, to behave there, has been much easier with Dr. Choe). She is gentle, comforting, knowledgeable and thorough. Her practice is also unique in that it is absent of many of the frustrating aspects of a "typical" doctor's office. For one, she is extremely responsive - I have never been put on hold and my phone calls/emails to her have always been answered within a very timely period (previously, even making an appointment had required taking to various receptionists and waiting on the line, and attempting to have a substantive question answered by a doctor required going through even more hoops). Second, she is up to date with technology and allows for simple online appointments and access to medical records (previously, I had to wait weeks to receive my own medial records). I would absolutely recommend Dr. Choe and encourage parents to take a look at her practice, even if already currently with another practice. Knowing that I have a responsive, accessible and experienced pediatrician near-by has significantly increased my peace of mind. Other mothers I have spoken to who have visited Dr. Choe and Nurse Natalia all share positive experiences. read more

I have to update my review. My son has always had a lot of mucus in his nose. He also sounds very nasal when speaking. When I mentioned this to Dr. Choe, her response was that the nose's function is to filter dirty air. My new pediatrician asked some follow up questions and suggested I see an ENT. It turns out my son's adenoids are enlarged and he needs to have surgery. Very disappointed that Dr. Choe did not think to follow up with any questions given that enlarged tonsils/adenoids are so common in babies/kids. -------------------------------------------------------------------- I did not have a great experience with this practice at all. I found Dr. Choe to be very knowledgable but pretty cold and dismissive. She also has a bit of an alarmist way of reacting to things. The office was always clean but felt very sterile and staff is just ok, not the warm and friendly type that you often see in other pediatrician's offices but I never had a bad encounter with them. Her partner Dr. Forgione is extremely warm and friendly and I really liked her style (non alarmist but thorough). Had I started with her I probably wouldn't have left. Also Dr. Choe gives you an email address to write to her directly but seems like someone from her office responds as a couple of times the response did not even make sense. Did not feel comfortable with this practice. To boot- When I asked for my kids files to be sent to my new pediatrician I was told they will charge me .75 a page! What a scam. I also found it very annoying and outdated that none of my kids information could be accessed online. read more

The office is beautiful, location is great (in a highly underserved area), and her nurse has always been kind and professional. We LOVED this practice and only left because we moved out west. Dr. Cho and Dr. Forgenie have always been wonderful, easily reachable, and very responsive. We've had a few emergencies with our son, and they were always very supportive. Dr. Cho is no fuss, no muss, which is great. I don't know what the other reviewers were talking about, but i never had any issues with reception--appointments made easily, everything done swiftly, and they were always so nice to the kiddos! We are thrilled to have found this practice. Our son sees Dr Forgenie and we absolutely adore her. They are kind, compassionate, responsive to emergency calls at all hours and to non-emergencies via email and contrary so some of the older reviews here, I find their staff to be lovely and helpful as well. Not to mention, the Wednesday morning lactation group meetings were a God send to me when my son first arrived with the added bonus of meeting some wonderful mommy friends there as well. read more

I have the same concern as Jonathan H. below from 3/30/2015, Dr.Choe is not reachable nor gives a good service. We had recently moved to Dr. Choe's practice. Our 1.5 years old daughter was sick for a week and when we called her to see what we should do she was always very harsh. After a week being sick, we showed up Monday morning after our daughter had 3 days of high fever that wouldn't go away. The office was empty, she was in the computer with the receptionist and she told us that we couldn't do walk-ins and she would not see us. She didn't even ask us how our daughter was, or what was her fever, NOTHING! We probably should have called before to set up an appointment but she showed no empathy for us nor for our daughter, even though the office was empty. We loved Dr. Forgenie but we have moved to another practice. We want a pediatrician that cares for our daughter, and Dr. Choe didn't seem like she did. That same day we were seen at Hudson Heights Pediatrics and they diagnosed an ear infection and prescribed antibiotics. We are definitely staying at Hudson Heights Pediatrics. read more

i have been taking my son here since he was born (only 6 months ago haha) and i absolutely love this office! i met with Dr Choe before the baby was born & my boyfriend and i immediately decided we wanted her as our pediatrician. when our son was born, Dr Forgenie went to the hospital to examine him and she has been his doctor ever since. we absolutely LOVE her! i love that i can email her with any non urgent matters and i always get a quick response. the women running the front desk have always been very nice & helpful. i absolutely trust both doctors with my sons health. i highly recommend this practice. read more
