I made an appointment for my 17 year old son to see Dr. Merianos as he was not circumcised as a child. The best thing about seeing him is he was able to see him virtually or in the office. My son needed to have surgery so we set up a date. He was so communicative up until the day of surgery to assure my son everything would be ok. We discovered that our newborn had an inguinal hernia at about three weeks old. After confirmation from our pediatrician, we brought Max to see Dr. Merianos for an initial consultation. My son needed an inguinal hernia repair. You never want your 3 month old in surgery. You especially don't want it during a pandemic. My son was unable to get a circumcision while he was in the hospital after birth. Every other physician refused to do the procedure after 1 month except Dr. Merianos. Incredible pediatric surgeon! From the moment i spoke to his office staff i was impressed. Dr. Merianos sealed the deal when we met him. His bedside manner is amazing as he's super personable, knowledgeable and makes you feel comfortable and confident from the get go. Dr. Merianos was referred to me by some other moms i know who saw him for various pediatric procedures and all reviews were glowing. My obgyn opted to not perform a circ on my son when he was born as he wanted more foreskin to grow over the course of the next few weeks. Ultimately, i decided we'd see a pediatric oncologist/surgeon since my son was a bit older. One thing i wasn't comfortable with was my son waiting until 6 months to have this done and put under which all other docs in NYC seem to do. After delivering my baby at home I had to find a dr to circumcise my son. What I thought would be a very stressful situation turned out to be very easy, thank God. The first appointment you make with dr merianos is a consolation in which he explains the whole procedure. This brought a lot of relief to myself and my husband. He explained that the baby would feel no pain during the procedure. The only pain the baby would feel is the needle for the anesthesia which would feel like a shot/vaccine. The day of the surgery went very smoothly. I had to go to Brooklyn to get it done. Went in at 11:30 and was out by 1 pm. He explained how to take care of the area and then we went home. Exactly 1 year today I brought my 9 year old son, Alec, into Cornell ER. My son was exhibiting symptoms of a stomach bug, but I was concerned and since the holidays didn't want to take a chance . The staff at the ER was very quick in checking us in and getting to the root of what was happening ... with in an hour we found out that my son's appendix ruptured and has spread , he needed to go into surgery right away. Doctor Merianos is exceptional. Upon first meeting him we immediately felt confident in his care. We went to the ER for appendix pain around 1am. Dr. Merianos saw us after my son was settled in a room- he spent a long time with us explaining the procedure and what to expect. I never felt rushed- actually I was so impressed with his generosity and patience. The operation went smoothly as expected in his care. Our follow up with him was also informative and again he spent a lot of time and we never felt rushed. My son healed beautifully- quickly he was up and about. My son is 17, I took him to the pediatric ER as I was concerned if he was admitted to the hospital I wouldn't be able to see him. This was last July - COVID. He took his time to explain exactly what a hiatal hernia was and how he would operate on it, including all the potential scenarios. So thankful that my husband and I found him for my 7 week old son's circumcision. My son had complications at birth so nicu did not want to complete the procedure. We spoke with several pediatric urologists and were told that we would possibly have to wait until he was 6 months old and go under General anesthesia.
