Between my uncle and I, we have visited Motor Works with our vehicles 5-6 times within the past few…read moremonths due to various reasons like oil changes, new tires, checking and re-checking for a potential oil leak, and fixing a door handle. We primarily work with 2 employees here - Gus and Mitch. Both great guys who've answered all of our questions and met our service needs. Prior to becoming regular customers at Motor Works, we were loyal customers to a different shop in town for 10+ years. They had some staffing changes and their repairmen became careless, so we decided to switch it up to a place that's much closer to home with staff who seem passionate about their jobs. Pricing on services are generally reasonable and it can take a few days for parts to arrive. We usually ask for a free shuttle ride home if the service is predicted to take longer, but for oil changes, we stay at Motor Works and wait the 30min to an 1 hour time frame. I will say the one frustration we've had is when calling for a shuttle ride back to Motor Works to pick up our vehicle. There was an occasion where we waited for over an hour after being told there was a car "on the way" and we live close by, so there must've been some miscommunication amongst the staff there and it getting pretty busy toward the end-of-day. We were understanding about it however, I'd recommend calling back to clarify if a ride is in fact coming if you plan to use the shuttle service. Expect that you may have other customers in the car with you too and may not be their first stop, so be patient if that does happen. There's a Keurig for coffee and water bottles if you do have a long wait. Their wifi's a bit hit or miss, but not so bad that I've had to bring it up to staff members. They also no longer take checks - only cash or card, so be mindful of that before bringing your car in to Motor Works.

I had a timing chain go out on my Ford 150. Brought it into their Sartell location and they fixed…read moreit. Took them 3 days to do because they had to keep ordering parts. Once it was finally complete, it broke before I even got home. They had to fix it again. After that, I immediately had an oil leak and had to have that fixed. Next visit, they said I had another oil leak but I had already paid over $5000 to them for the other repairs and could not afford it at that time. I then started to have a large pool of oil on my garage floor so I had to borrow money to get the second oil leak fixed. When I bought it in, they said they couldn't find a leak and argued with me because I was somehow stupid for thinking a large pool of oil on my garage floor would be from a leak and they had already told me on a previous visit there in fact was a leak. Brought it back a week later and then they said there in fact was a leak. More money for those visits. I spent over $3000 to have oil leaks fixed which I am pretty sure were related to their terrible work on the timing chain. I no longer go there after years of service. Better off going to a dealer since they charge the same amount. When I spoke to the manager, he did not care. Just writes to me "Have a good day."

Called FRIEDRICH's AUTO, Rice MN and was quoted nearly $200 CHEAPER... when I asked Granite City Tire and Auto if they could reduce the price a little just to make it comparable... They said, "NO".... it's amazing that Granite City tire and auto is NOT willing to take even $50 off a bill in order To be competitive in the area... Can tell you that they have lost a customer for LIFE! And I will NEVER refer anyone to this establishment again. Lesson learned, shop around, and be careful of reviews placed by their own employees to make them seem better than they actually are. Overpriced! You've been warned!!!

But now that I'm up here it's not really feasible to drive an hour south, drop off my car for a day or two, and figure out a ride back up here or renting a car. So I had to look for someone up here. Mike's Repair looked well reviewed so I took a chance on them. Turns out they are awesome too! I appreciated that when I called someone picked up right away in the evening and got me scheduled for first thing the next morning. Car was fixed the same day. Price was reasonable. A bit more than I'm used to, but I know the guy I used to go to was really giving me a sweetheart deal. I think Mike's gave me good value for the money I paid. I have 240k+ miles on this Civic of mine and it just keeps chugging along. So I'm sure I'll be back to Mike's as it needs more work. I'll definitely return!

They don't sell you things you don't need. They don't do everything - I don't believe they do tire work for example - but they're able to do most engine/mechanical work. One time they even dropped me off at home, which is a service you'll find at most large garages.
