Sokup's is the place to go for fresh, affordable meat. I live about 45 minutes away and I stop in about twice a month. They have wonderful sales that they post weekly, and the staff are amazing. I really loved this place! It would have been an easy 4 star rating if staff were wearing masks during a pandemic and a Statewide mask mandate. Unfortunately, not a single staff person was wearing a mask and I encountered at least 5 staff members. Super disappointing. Otherwise, this is totally my kind of place! Sokup's main focus is their butcher counter and in house butchering. I got some of the local favorite thick cut bacon as well as some breakfast sausage links. Both were very tasty. I really love my bacon but this Milwaukeean prefers regular or thin cut bacon over thick. I like my bacon crispy af, as the kids say. The store also has a small selection of produce, dry goods, pantry staples, bread, snacks and such. I purchased a dozen of locally raised Amy's eggs, fresh local garlic, tomatoes, cucumbers and sourdough bread. It was all so good! I love the mom and pop quality of Sokup's. Old School Butcher Shop, with a few other items. It's called a Market, but it is really a butcher shop. Sure, they have some produce and some dry goods, but it is all about the meat and cheese here. Family run forever, located in downtown Chippewa Falls near the Courthouse, this is the place to go for meat. Great prices. They run their own smokehouse and put out great bacon - and their hotdogs are real hotdogs, not those nasty store dogs sealed in plastic that are only good for dog treats. They have some limited produce, which is usually good and well priced. Dry goods are there strictly for emergencies. Far too expensive otherwise. Great service. Oh wow what can I say and where to start!? Lived in Chippewa for over two year and to my shame have walked by hundreds of times and never gone in. A few months ago a coworker on my new job asked what I thought of Sokup's and recommended them HIGHLY. I decided to take his advice and went in to see what they had. We bought two steaks and four sausages to see if it was something me and my 12 year old son would like. Very competitive prices and the quality and flavor were a huge hit. Since the first visit we have decided that it is the only place in town to buy our meats. Salami with excellent flavor and not all the added salt and preservatives, sausages both raw and pre cooked, ham and excellent ground beef. Little by little we are working our way through their selection and not once been disappointed. The service we receive every time we walk through the store is 110% fabulous. Their meats are famous, so I will only add this tip: try thick-cut bacon. Also be sure to try their cheese - particularly their colby and cheese curds, which are delivered fresh every Monday. Their homemade dumplings are terrific, if you like dumplings. A year or two ago, they added chocolate candy. OK, it is just repackaged chocolate-covered nuts and caramels but if you try them, you will be addicted. The dark-chocolate covered caramels with sea salt sell out right away. read more

What's not to love about this grocer? On two separate occasions I have hade their meat and cheese trays and on both occasions I was blown away. Product quality is first rate and the prices are really reasonable. The last tray I ordered was a small one, but my friend and myself munched on that for 3 days and we're grown men with solid appetites. 3 meats and 3 cheeses with generous portions of all.
