    Roast beef hoagie
    Alex W.

Good vibes, food came out fast. Hoagie is definitely the way to go. We got roast beef since they were out of turkey. Hoagie was good but didn't "wow" me either. My friend from Philly said that he'd prefer wawa.

Review Visit: November 13th, 2024 The sound of deliciousness. Tim hyped this place up during our chat at The Growler Guys and just in general texts about it being a pretty popular place. He said he's tried to come here before and if there's an event going on, the line will be out the door. That got me hyped to try it out and so we headed that way once we both woke up and were ready for food. When we arrived, it wasn't too busy. We had gotten there late enough to avoid both the breakfast crowd and the lunch crowd. Tim grabbed a large sweet roll... I mean cinnamon roll and a drink. I grabbed my usual ice americano and a pita sandwich. We grabbed a table and go to talking without me being half awake like the prior night. It took a bit for our food and coffee to come out since they were served together. When they brought my drink out, they brought me a hot americano instead of an iced one. That ended up being fine since my hands were freezing from the walk over from Tim's house. This was my first hot americano and it didn't taste any different than a normal drip coffee. But that was fine, overall, since it didn't taste bad. But once I dug into the pita, I was in heaven. I got the turkey one without mayo. Each bite was delightful. The pita bread itself was just what I love about them. I debated getting a second one but thought that we had a long day ahead and needed room for the rest of the days shenanigans. Tim said his drink (I forget what it was) was entirely too sweet. He thought he would be able to get through it but said it just kept that overbearing sweetness throughout. He finished it off and then decided to get either a French or Italian soda. He said that that was pretty tasty. This place gives me One World vibes. It's one of those artsy, accepting of everyone kind of place. It's a vibe I can't really explain but once you feel it, you'll get it. If I lived in Eau Claire, I would come in all the time for just the pita sandwiches. It was that dang good. Plus, their wifi password is a reference to Lord of the Rings.

    Turkey Hoagies

Stopped by here for lunch. We noticed they also had coffee! Loved the food and coffee. The cashier helping us was so thoughtful and kind! The ambiance is nice for a lunch on a weekday. It was probably the biggest and tastiest hoagies we've had. I'd definitely come back!

2- 1/2 hoagies and an iced turtle mocha

Sandwiches were pretty good as was the iced turtle mocha. The bread was super soft and had good flavor. Otherwise pretty average on all fronts but would definitely return for lunch.

Walk in and order at the counter and choose a big old wooden booth to sit in! Helpful staff and a decent beer selection! I can't remember ever having beer cheese soup, but don't think I'll ever forget this one! Packed with flavor...I already want to come back just to have it again!

What a great place! Tucked in the streets of the downtown district, this place has a great cafe vibe. The menu offers only a few things, but their hoagies are amazing!! Highly recommend this place for a great hoagie, a coffee or just a place to hang out and get some work done. The service was fantastic and the barista was very friendly and helpful! Great find, make sure you stop in when you're in town, you won't regret it!

Love this place! I come in from out of town for work, and was here about a year ago. Nice vibe, friendly service and great coffee and food! I came twice today, americano and quiche for breakfast, and then back for lunch with corned beef and potato soup. Great place to warm up on a snowy day!

An Eau Claire local raved about this spot and I'm pleased to say that Nostalgic Bean lived up to…read morethe hype! I came in on a Sunday morning and there was a little line of people ahead of me but it moved pretty quickly! Interior-wise, there isn't a ton of space for seating but luckily, there are plenty of tables/chairs at The Yard Container Park that's ~40 second walk from the bakery. I got the strawberry passionfruit cruffin, chocolate almond croissant, lavender vanilla shortbread, and a latte with sugar-free caramel. First off, I was very impressed with the variety of flavors that were displayed (i.e. passionfruit, rhubarb, cardamon, kimchi, etc.) All the baked goods I got were fantastic- especially the cruffin. I was initially hesitant to order it because I'm not a fan when the exterior doesn't have that flakey/crunchiness. But I'm glad I tried the one here because the texture was perfect. As for the filling, it was a good balance of sweet and tart. Same thing for the croissant. When I ate the cruffin, I already knew the croissant was about to hit- and it did. Perfectly flakey and had that beautiful crunchy exterior. They definitely didn't skimp on the chocolate/almond filling either! Personally, it was a little too much for me but that's just a me thing Last but not least, the lavender vanilla shortbread was wonderful. You can actually taste the lavender and they added a perfect amount of salt to bring the flavors out! Aside from the delightful pastries, the coffee was lovely and the staff were super friendly. Nostalgic Bean is definitely a Altoona gem!

Delicious drinks, done dirt cheap!…read more Situated in a hotel is Eau Claire Downtown Coffee. Or better known as ECDC. I saw this place when I first visited Eau Claire but never got the chance to go. I told my friends that when we hang out for vacation, my only one real request is hitting up ECDC at some point. Not because I love rock music but because I love the ingenuity of the name... and maybe because it reminds me of AC/DC every time I think about it. We popped in on our quiet day and were greeted with a really nice coffeehouse and some really nice baristas. I ordered my usual americano while Tim and Matt got drinks and a small baked good. We took a seat at one of the tables and just chatted and talked about our plans for the day. My americano was really good. I noticed americanos up around Eau Claire were more subtle and subdued versus back home, which by this point I was getting used to it. Tim and Matt both got a latte that sounded good to them and a baked good. Matt got a macaroon and Tim got a tiramisu cake square. I don't have much to say about this place that I haven't said a million times already. It was really nice inside. It had a very black theme to it. Maybe inspired by being somewhat named like this one hard rock band? There were some Star Wars meditating posters in one corner of the dining area. We didn't stay long before we slowly sauntered on to our next destination but I am 110% glad we stopped in and finally got to check it out. It was definitely worth the wait. Check it out sometime if you are in the area and need a break from the chain places (or try one of the other good places to get coffee in the area, which is what I suggest). Rock on and stay caffeinated.

Service by Jordan was colder than the iced brew. The new Hiker coffee tastes like dirty socks.read more

A cozy end to a fantastic vacation…read more Tim described Racy D'lenes as what coffeehouses were like before they exploded everywhere. What he would consider to be a true coffeehouse. This got me excited as I do like a genuine cozy coffeehouse that does it's own thing and Racy was just that. We rolled in around 9am to get coffee and enjoy the quietness before Matt and I drove home. The sky was overcast with the constant threat of rain. The inside of Racy was nice and cozy. I got my americano, a giant chocolate chip cookie and a funny sticker for my final Eau Claire experience. Tim and Matt both got the Cadbury Egg latte. The place was a bit busy so we ended up sitting on this couch. We weren't crammed in there but 3 grown males put it to the test. I kid you not, this americano and cookie may have been the best thing I had during this whole trip. I know I'm easily excitable and tend to give high praise for most things but those two things were legit delicious. The cookie was so good that it made me wish I got a hot coffee just to dunk it in as that sounded divine. Both Matt and Tim said their latte were amazing and tasted just like a Cadbury egg. As we sat there and made small talk and went over the fun of the last few days, I couldn't help but look around and notice all the little things strewn about the place. There was a tank with a live turtle in it. There was a skeleton handing from the skeleton talking to someone (I couldn't see where the line went) via a can and string. The walls were painted or had stuff hanging up. This place must've been here for a long time now. Speaking of the cozy feeling, if this place had a fireplace, I would've fallen asleep so easily. I was already nodding off due to the weather and being perfectly content and settled in, it wouldn't have taken much more to slip off into a light snooze. Now that would've been a first for me, falling asleep in a coffeehouse... but if you've been here on a rainy day, you would understand. Eventually we made our way outside and were doing the midwestern goodbye when it started to sprinkle. That put a little pep in our step to get back to our cars and say goodbye to Eau Claire. Two things to keep in mind for visiting here is that its on the backside of The Nucleus and that since it's on the backside of a building, parking is very limited and you may need to park on the street if it's busy. Racy D'lenes... I will definitely be back.

They have tables available and also couches/chairs for a more comfortable experience! There are some parking spots available in the back or street parking is an option. They also allow you to use reusable mugs, so feel free to bring them if you're getting a drink to go! Edited review based on business response: Based off of the Visit Eau Claire website for dog friendly places, I previously understood that Racy's was dog friendly. It indicated, "Racy D'lene's Coffee Lounge - You and the pup can enjoy a laid-back morning or afternoon at Racy's together. Their coffee and sandwiches and pastries will be a real treat for both you and your trusty four-legged sidekick." It appears that is not accurate and dogs are not allowed inside the building.
