    Fresh oysters & mussels

I have nothing but great things to say about this restaurant! Friendly staff, homely feel, unpretentious yet decadent in all aspects. The seafood was absolutely divine, we had the fresh oysters and mussels... the broth served with the mussels was amazing. My boyfriend had the lamb rack & duck medley... presented beautifully and tasted even better. I had the arroz de marisco, had the perfect selection of seafood and made in a fine sauce and rice. Prices are very reasonable, especially the wine. If in Westport, definitely give this place a visit!

One of my best meals in Westport; I must say the standard of restaurants in this charming town is pretty high. Food was excellently prepared and very delicious although it'll be wise to ask what is not available (before you set you heart on it!) as they are dependent on the daily haul of the local fishermen. Wine available by the carafe which is always a plus for me so the OH can order his red, and me a white and get sufficiently tiddly!

This is a nice restaurant on the first and second floor with a good view on Bridge street, one of Westport's main streets. Food on the menu seems to be quite expensive at first (at least it did to us) but is quite on par with the other restaurants nearby. While we were there, they offered a special menu with a selection of starter, main course and dessert for 25,95EUR which is a good offer. For starter I chose Duck (with a french surname I can't remember ;-)). This was really good, it was basically roasted duck bits on toast and onions with some rucola on top, combined with apple sauce. An unusual combination which tasted very good. Main course was lamp chop with goat cheese on mashed potatoes and a red whine sauce. Excellent except that this came with two side bowls with vegetables and French Fries. The vegetables were okay, but the fries really didn't fit with it and weren't very good either. For desert I chose Applepie with ice cream. The plate I got looked really amazing, unfortunately the taste wasn't as great. The pie's dough was too dry, vanilla ice ceam would have better fitted than the chosen strawberry flavor and the additional berries where clearly thawed frozen food and tasted of nothing. I got pretty good food for the money, but the little flaws made it hard to fully enjoy the meal here.

Such a friendly place, fantastic sea and non-sea food and you have to taste the tiramisu, it's simply heavenly! :-)

There are real cooks here who know how to cook. The surprising thing for us was we didn't even know the harbour existed let alone the Towers restaurant. We only learned this in the local town hall when we went in on Monday to buy tickets for their swing night on the Friday. The staffer originally from Belfast was a great tourism ambassador. On our first night at this place I opted for linguine. I kept it light and vegetarian. My wife opted for cod & chips with mushy peas & tartare sauce. Boyso, the biggest piece of fried fish we've ever been served. It was delicious and I got a piece. The mushy peas were excellent too. There were two problems that need some re work though; the fish batter was a good beer batter. It was crispy thin delicious on serving, but sadly it didn't stay crisp for the time it took to eat the cod. The skin on chips should also have been cooked a bit longer. On another night, my wife opted for their chicken tikka masala, which she liked (good 3 star). I had seafood chowder with a dense delightful brown bread, served with butter and 6 Clew Bay oysters served with a raspberry vinaigrette. I do prefer plain fresh lemon, white pepper and red Tabasco. I'd put the chowder 5 star and the oysters 3 to 4 star. The oysters are priced top end - I wouldn't buy them again. On yet another night my wife had their sirloin steak (€28.5) with all the fixings and the steak and pepper sauce were really top notch. The skin on chips were done perfectly that night. I didn't manage to eat it all while to batter was crispy. We had excellent coffees two nights and truly delicious espresso martinis on our last night. The view outside was wild beauty; stunning. We would go back in a heart beat. They should address the poor to non existent WiFi. Seems if the weather is poor so is the WiFi. It's the west of Ireland folks so the risk of poor weather is September thru March annually. Yes I know when folks are dining they shouldn't be going on line but it's as essential as serving great food.
