Recently did the new student special which is a really great deal. Top notch yoga from every instructor. I've practice at every other nearby studio and gym and nothing compares to the vibe of this place and the expertise of these teachers. The downtown studio has a beautiful ocean view and is unheated. it gets crowded at times. I also like hot yoga and love that membership comes with access to both locations. The El Porto location is also incredible and more spacious (though crowded at times). Favorite teacher so far is the owner Justin and I also love Kara's sculpt class and Annie's flow class. I'm happy I found my yoga home after a long search! The online option is also great especialy for Yin yoga when you can just be home and you want to feel like you're a part of the community. The above is from the yoga loft in response to my request for a refund for a trial membership. So..Listen, I tried to take an online class and their software was glitchy. The videos were bad quality, the camera was angled on the instructors head, the interface was bizarre and the videos just would not stream. I spent an hour trying and when I gave up, I called the studio for help. There was no answer. My email request for a refund was bounced back. A few days later, I email a different account and explained I wanted a refund. Instead of just telling me they don't offer them, there was this back and forth about how it was my fault the software did not work and they could help me fix the mistake I made. I explained I was no longer interested and found another streaming app. They still kept pressing me to try to fix the issue that I caused.. I just wanted a refund since I purchased a streaming product that did not stream. Who treats people like this at a yoga studio? The owner has since sent me yet another email claiming the victim stating that my saying, "I'm not sure why I am still asking for a refund" (after three emails back and forth of me not wanting to keep the membership) was unkind and condescending. The email went on quite a while to insult and condescend my desire to be refunded what he called, "about as cheap as going out to lunch" So what? If you are going to sell something that doesn't work, people will want their money back. Nothing mean or condescending about it. namaste (somewhere else) Hope those processing fee's don't break the bank. read more

First time for yoga? Not a problem at the Yoga Loft in Manhattan Beach! Finding parking for yoga? Big problem in downtown MB on a weeknight! It was Thursday and I circled the area for a while looking for parking. I usually have my favorite spots to park in MB (North of MB Blvd., on Highland), but I didn't really know where this place was and didn't have the address on me, so I didn't want to wander aimlessly with my bright green yoga mat, dressed like an OC cougar dork in my yoga gear. Oh wait, that's a track suit. Whatever. When I got there, it was dark, so I had no idea where I was going. It's basically a house converted to a yoga studio. The entrance is on Eleventh St., so if you're going South on Manhattan, turn right at the bar on the corner and you'll see a little entry way past this one little alley. Your first thought is, "Where the hell am I going?" but it's weird, there are offices there and you just basically go in and make a hairpin turn to your left and there's the studio. It's one room, they take your money at the counter, and they give you a free class after you pay! Sweet! Like Arryn W. said, check out their community classes. For $10, it can't be beat. I asked if this would be painful, seeing as how it was my first time ever taking a yoga class. She said Matt was a great instructor, which he was. The movements and guidance were slow enough so I could follow along easily, (I took a Step class back in the 90s once - gawd I'm old - and couldn't keep my feet from tangling). He goes through the initial movements, then repeats them building up the pace. This was a Level 1 class, there were about 13 people in the room, which was pretty much at full capacity. It was a little on the warm side in there for me, but I got used to it after a while and it didn't smell. Well, it wasn't aromatic, but it wasn't B.O. bad. You can leave your stuff outside the room, as they lock up once the class starts. In the daytime, you'd probably have a pretty awesome view of the ocean, but I liked that it was dark, with candles lit, because then you couldn't see me sweating through the middle of class. I personally like the coziness of the place, although I really have nothing to compare it to since this is my first class. But I'm definitely going back! read more

I had ClassPass for a month and tried a community yoga class taught by Lane here. It's one of the cutest studios, very welcoming, with a gorgeous ocean view. They have a nice lobby with space to store your goodies, and some retail. I had forgotten my mat and was able to rent one for $1. I could tell they have a lot of regulars here. Great yogi community! The teachers are really hit or miss at this studio. I've been to a lot of classes and thus far, I only really like Jessi and Dylan. These instructors are amazing and I wish they taught here more often. They play incredible music and teach fun classes that whip your butt. I highly recommend both of them. The other instructors provide jarring adjustments and teach improper alignment. Cleanliness and space are top notch and beautiful. You really can't ask for more in this department. Difficulty level: mostly aimed at beginners. Instruction: I wouldn't come here for instruction on alignment and/or posture. It's best that you have some foundation of yoga so that you know what is going down. read more

Probably one of my favorite yoga studios of all time. The studio is located right on the beach. All classes face the ocean and big glass windows and doors help you feel as if you are practicing on the water itself. Beautiful is an understatement. This studio is an experience to be had. Each time I go to class here I am overwhelmed with gratitude for the views, the knowledgeable friendly staff and the amazing energy that people have left to share in this space. -This studio is not heated but you will sweat! -They offer free hot tea -Each teacher is extremely unique/ get to know and love them all for each that they bring to your practice -I feel as if this studio is one of the best yoga studios in LA. I've been wanting to try yoga and came across a groupon type deal for Yoga Loft. I can not even explain to you how much I look forward to going here. I've been to a few classes now and I feel like I've gotten the hang of the moves and the overall flow of yoga. Not to mention the view is amazing!! You can see the ocean, watch the sunset, all while doing yoga!! The staff and the other students attending class are all very warm and friendly! They really make you feel comfortable even if you are a first timer! The owner, suzy, is often here and she teaches several classes too. She is so friendly and warm... I love taking her classes too... Matt's Power Hour class is awesome as well...unfortunately, I can't always leave work to attend since it's from 12-1. I highly recommend you try it if you can!! I just started the 30-Day Yoga Challenge, and already, I can tell that this will be a Life-changing experience! I took Ryan's Yin class, long holds in postures, meditation and candlelight~ I wish all of Life could be like this!~ and it completely lifted my mood, outlook and connection with my body. Today, I took Marion's Core Power which was really focused, intense ab and hip work and I learned so much! The workout went really deep and was a nice change of pace from Sun Salutations (which I Love, but it's nice to expand our repertoire). =) It can be a little tricky to find unless you know where it is, but it's really close to the Strand. The price of the 30 Day challenge is a fantastic deal: unlimited yoga for the month for $95. and they have a great variety of classes. The Owner Suzi is bubbly and a pleasure. Oceanview, too! Oooooooom.....Ooooooom...... Ahhh...it's been so long since I've taken a yoga class I almost forgot how relaxing and peaceful it was. I used to be a regular yogi but not at a private studio, I did it at Bally's Total Fitness in Century City Chicago...sounds cheesy but believe it or not they had excellent instructors that challenged you and gave you a great workout. The one thing Bally's didn't do was offer you the peacefulness and tranquility that a place like this does...unlike the muscleheads and heavy metal playing that smack you in the face at Bally's as soon as you leave the yoga room :O In any event, this place was quaint and small. I took a level 2/3 class with Jo Tatsula and found the class relaxing yet challenging. I walked out relaxed. As well, the sign of a good workout to me is muscle soreness and sure enough I was nice and sore two days later. I am also a sucker for water so the beautiful view that you looked onto added to the whole ambiance of the place. They have mat rental for $1 which I used as I have yet to locate the box that contains my dusty unused mat from long ago. I will definitely be back to try more classes! I paid $18 for a class but I think if you get a pass or a monthly fee you may get a better deal if you plan on going regularly. read more

FABULOUS EXPERIENCE! I"m pretty picky when it comes to my yoga...and the yoga loft had it all. The studio is gorgeous. Unobstructed ocean view, clean neat studio with props to borrow, and great teachers. I took "Yoga Tune Up" with Suzie. This class, though not strenuous, helps you to fine tune the poses we've all been doing wrong, without knowing it, for so long. I was more sore after this class than I am after doing a power yoga class. I will get more out of every yoga class I take because of this one class. The class was a little pricey, $18 however on your first visit, they give you a coupon for a free second class....Can't wait to go back! read more

This is an A-OK yoga studio deserving 3.5 stars. The "regular" teachers in Manhattan Beach rotate between a few studios, and two or three of them teach here as well as other studios nearby. I went to a class taught by Jamie Horgan - one of my favorites! - and was not disappointed. She beats me up every time - be prepared for challenging & creative flow sequences and 45 minutes of flowing! Love her. The studio is not that remarkable, in my opinion - yes, they have an ocean view. I went to a class during sunset, and was not that excited to have the beaming sun shining directly into my eyes for an hour and a half. The room itself is on the small side, just like the waiting area. And, no parking. This studio tends toward the ... what's the word ... naturalist or groovy side of yoga? They're not playing hip hop or Bob Marley during your flow class here - you're going to chant "Om," and there are little Buddhas and Namaste signs everywhere. If you're looking for a gym-like or more modern feel, probably not your spot. They offer an introductory special where you pay $30 for an unlimited week of yoga classes. Or, you can get your first two classes for $18 (which is normally the price of one class). I'll probably go three times to check out the crowdedness and use my pass, but due to the parking sitch and the vibe (I tend toward the more modern studios), it's probably not "home" for me. Advice on parking/finding it: Park up toward the hills if you can to avoid the meters, and then walk down 11th toward the ocean until you see YogaLoft signs on your right. You'll be in an alley. Turn right and go through the big, wooden double doors to find YogaLoft on your right. read more

Every time I'm anywhere near Manhattan Beach, I get to Yoga Loft! Every time! It's that sensational!! While I have my favorites Suzy, Justin, Lane, I have never ever experienced an average, let alone a below average instructor. Every instructor, every class, every time, is welcoming and beneficial! I am not a seasoned practitioner of yoga but I am accepted and helped each and every time at Yoga Loft. Mats, blocks, et al are available to use. The studio is clean, open and inviting. I am so totally bummed about my experience here. I have been doing yoga for a few months now and came home from school (in TX) and decided to find a yoga studio at home to try whenever I visit. After reading reviews for The Yoga Loft, I decided to try it out. SUCH A DISAPPOINTMENT. Reasoning: 1) No parking. Parking downtown MB is always an adventure so I do not blame them for this at all. Unfortunately you must leave very early for this class so you can find parking without running late to class. 2) The instructor I had was awful! To begin, she was late and then 10 mins into the class, let others noisily join the class. She also paced back and forth on the squeaky hardwood floor the entire time making it very hard to concentrate and stay focused. THEN HER PHONE RANG--TWICE!!! I am not a yoga snob, but I am pretty sure that yoga is meant to help center the mind and body and that it is common courtesy to turn off and leave electronics outside of the room during class. 3) The class was more of an exercise class with some stretching rather than a true yoga class. There were not very many poses, no meditation, and some weirdo exercises I have NEVER done in yoga before. To say the least, I was VERY disappointed with my experience here. I will never go back and would advise others to try and find another studio in the area instead. read more

I really didn't want to spend $20-30 on a yoga class either, but I was desperate. I looked up yoga studios near me and found yoga loft. Guess what, they have $10 community classes! And clean, lululemon yoga mats to rent for only $1! As I boasted on my blog already, the thing that REALLY sold me was the complimentary YOGI tea... The little things that matter. I love my yoga. Especially when it happens at The Yoga Loft. This spot has it all, great teachers, an incredible view, and able is to accommodate all levels. I personally recommend Suzy, Adriano and Amy. Suzy's Yoga Tune Up class is awesome. She breaks poses down and teaches them in segments to ensure you are doing them properly, preventing potential injuries in the future. This place has really helped me to elevate my practice. Parking is not usually an issue. I usually park at the Metlox center a few blocks away which gives me an excuse to get a coffee or a bite on the way back to my car. read more

This is my FAVORITE spot to practice yoga. First of all, we have to talk about the view. Looking out into the Pacific is the perfect view when I'm in tree pose. Next, the teachers are all awesome and have a great reputation within the yoga community. All of them have extensive experience. My favorite is Suzy Nece. She really has such a great style of teaching yoga. It inspires you to work harder at your practice. They offer a few amenities alkaline water and hot tea. They also offer a few fun retail items from the clothing to the props. I'm a fan. PARKING There is a lot in front of the studio and street parking, which is usually not a problem during the week. However, during the summer and on the weekend, I usually park at the Metlox structure and walk down to the studio. 2 blocks. read more

Wonderful experience with this place. I took mostly Level 1 or 1/2 classes and enjoyed them thoroughly, especially with Suzy. The location is unbeatable, loved looking out at the ocean. Having been to other studios and feeling suffocated from lack of fresh air in the middle of class, I enjoyed the freedom of being able to open the windows and enjoy my Ujjayi breathing even more.There is the pier parking lot right in front of the loft, but it is rather expensive when you go to class everyday. Parking is available further up on Highland or Manhattan as well. My only problem, and this is my pet peeve with all yoga classes in the US, is how nobody seems to be able to get the pronunciation of the Sanskrit names of the asanas correctly. Another thing that bugs me is the music that have Sanskrit chants in them are almost always sung by people who have the pronunciation wrong. I'm fairly sure, since most other people aren't bothered by incorrect Sanskrit pronunciation, they'd absolutely love the Yoga Loft. read more

This is the place I go to for yoga and it absolutely challenges my body every single time I go and I love it. They have a very friendly staff and all the other people who go there are super friendly as well. I take Suzy's class on Saturdays at 930am which is an intermediate/advanced class (I'm not bragging here, but I do have an awesome child pose!). She is probably the best yoga teacher I have ever had. She's funny, interacts with the entire class, super helpful and plays great music. The yoga room is very spacious and offers a great view of the beach, especially when there is no overcast. Parking isn't too bad either. I am usually able to find a spot in the parking lot by the pier or on the street. Definitely try this place out if you are a yogie. read more

I thought I did yoga until Tanya cohert's class. She teaches the Sunday morning 8:30am-10:00am class "THERAPEUTIC FLOW." She focuses on form BIG TIME. She's specific, clear and not afraid to touch and adjust the students as needed. Her approach is gentle yet firm. She is by far, one of the best teachers I have ever had. Suzy is the bomb. She is just so genuine! Never makes me feel bad about how shitty my pose looks. She adjusts me and explains the anatomy. I love the small size of the studio. I have been to other "gym" like yoga studios and I MAY get some individual support but not as much as I do at the yogaloft. At the yogaloft I always get feedback on how to improve my pose. I had one other teacher there and she was okay. I'm sticking to these two teachers for now. I have lost 20lbs since I have started here along with a martial art. My core is stronger and I feel like I get a full body work out . The front desk staff is friendly and helpful. Fellow students are cool and down to earth. This place is the business! read more

OM a lover of this room with a view! Great place for advanced practice with a peek at the ocean. Talk about a serious sun salutation. This is by far my favorite yoga studio in the Southbay. I have been practicing yoga for about 12 years now and I find that some of the studios in this area aren't as challenging as I'd like them to be. This studio offers most classes on a Level system and they are pretty true to their ranking. Regardless of which class you attend, all of their instructors are very knowledgable and friendly. I adore Matt's class (who is an ambassador at El Segundo's Lululemon). Nadja's classes were challenging and one of my favorite classes to get my flow on and Suzy Nece makes you feel super comfortable and she has a great sense of humor. Tips and Tricks: Parking can be a challenge so prepare to feed the meter or if you're local, bike there. It's also a small studio so some days you are packed in but it's never bothered me.
