For instance, she suggested I schedule a weekly bonding time with my daughter, which is now the most-anticipated activity of the week for both me and my daughter. Last week, I almost cried when my daughter told me that I'm her closest person in the world, given I was clearly her most-hated person less than a year ago! We are so glad to see her since we did the "Bringing Baby Home" classes before our sweet little guy was born. We learned so much during the weekly sessions before, so it is exciting that we aren't freaking out since Lara taught us proper expectations for our relationship with each other and for dealing with a newborn baby at the same time. For us the class was sort of like pre-marital counseling, but pre-baby! Even though we have a pretty great marriage with open communication, we needed to talk through our upbringings, our parenting expectations, conflict resolution with each other and also how we plan to resolve conflict with our son. Lara was a great mediator for us and helped us work through some issues. It was very hands on! I would definitely recommend the classes for anyone expecting a baby!

The first several months of your baby's life, especially for first time parents, can be filled with…read morestress, anxiety, lack of sleep, self neglect, worry, and the list goes on. Fortunately for my wife and I, we were blessed to have one of the best Doula's working with Carte Blanche stay with us for the first three months after my wife delivered our son. However, her services started far before the birth of our son. Prior to the delivery she provided us with several consultations to help us prepare for the arrival of our baby. This included things expect, measures and responses we could make as a team in the event of emergencies, what issues and emergencies to watch out for, how to prepare the home and the nursery for the baby, what supplies/toys/equipment to purchase, emotional support, and most importantly- lots of hand holding and reassurance. Our Doula explained the Carte Blanche philosophy of recognizing the major needs of all newborns, how to anticipate those needs, and how to preemptively address those needs before the baby becomes stressed and reacts to lacking those needs. One of the most amazing and unique value of Carte Blanche is that their Doula's will live with you for 3 months after your baby is delivered. This allowed our Doula to help us develop a consistent structure and regimen which allowed for a much smoother developmental course for our baby. Although our Doula took the role of the primary caretaker for our son, she was never intrusive, nor dismissive of our wishes, preferences, or lifestyle; however, it was also very obvious that her primary concern was our baby and that would never be compromised. Our Doula created an hourly schedule for every aspect of our baby's life days in advance. This not only helped us coordinate our schedules and lives, but also helped to minimize the random unpredictable events which made these first few months so much less stressful. At our request, our Doula also slept in the baby's nursery and took care of all the night time feedings, diaper, changes, and any other needs our baby may have throughout the night. At first we were apprehensive and felt a bit guilty leaving our baby to the care of someone else during the night. However, this allowed us to be well rested to have better engagement and quality time with our baby throughout the day. If what I have just described hasn't sold you on Carte Blanche, perhaps this may be one of their most compelling value propositions. The Carte Blanche method is to facilitate all newborn babies to sleep through the night (at least 8 hours of uninterrupted sleep) by the end of the 12th week. This almost sounded too good to be true but was a huge selling point for my wife and I. In our case, the first night we had our baby overnight without the Doula, he slept 13 hours straight through. Our baby is now just over 8 months old and has continued to sleep 8-12 hours every night since our Doula has left. In addition, our baby has been an incredibly easy tempered baby who rarely cries, and is always smiling and laughing. Some may call that luck of the draw, but I believe the Carte Blanche method of setting up a predictable structure, minimizing stress within the household, and anticipating and preempting our baby's needs is what helped him develop and grow with as little stress as possible. Lastly, I don't want to fail to mention what I found to be the most valuable and priceless part of having a Doula with us for those crucial early months. Our Doula fell in love with Hudson as we fell in love with him. She instantly felt like family and became family. She not only had the knowledge, expertise, and experience we needed to help two totally clueless first time parents; but more importantly, she loved our baby boy to such a great degree, that we could trust her in every capacity to love him, to protect him, and always have his best interest at heart (even above her own). And to this day, even though she is no longer living with us, we still consider her a part of our family, we speak regularly, we see each other regularly, and she is always invited to holiday gatherings and family functions. There is no substitute, comparative, or alternative service that I would ever recommend for such an important and critical time in your child's life. I'd give them 100 star rating if that existed

At the time of my stay, we were doing triple feeding to help baby gain weight. The staff helped with bottle feeding and caring for our child when I was pumping - 10 times a day- always within minutes of being texted with a request for help. The team was always so kind and thoughtful with questions. I also really appreciated the on-site lactation consultant who helped me advocate with my medical team. The environment was also exactly what I needed- a super comfy bed, a relaxing nursing chair, and huge meals served three times a day. All with a cute themed decor that kept the room bright and welcoming. It was such a privilege to be able to focus only on my baby and recovering from birth - no meal prep, dishes, chores. The best part of the village is Jen, the owner, who is passionate about getting every detail right and sharing her extensive knowledge as a doula and nurse with each guest. Her hands-on CPR class helped me to feel ready for a variety of emergencies, and she was checking with me consistently to make sure everything- from our health to nursing to the room- was perfect and nothing less. I've recommended The Village to all of my expecting friends and would definitely return if I was expecting again. It's so amazing to have a resource like this during the chaotic but special first weeks with a baby - I know it made a huge difference for my mental health and confidence as a mother.

We booked 14 nights here because the 5 stars reviews online look promising and the tour seems alright. However, the actual experience fell short. Issues: We got a pest infested filthy room during our stay. On the first night, we saw a roach crawling in the shower. I was horrified and didn't use their shower for the rest of our 14 nights stay. We reported the roach issue to the owner and staff but there was no offer of a room change, deep cleaning, or any remediation other than an apology. They did asked the building management to set up some roach traps but no one came back to collect them or check on it. Yes, there were more roaches caught on the roach trap. On the second night, my husband went to take a shower and saw a huge flying moth. He managed to catch it and reported it to the owner and staff. But again, they only apologized and told us to close our windows in that dry stuffy room. The windows were already opened when we checked in but it was implied we opened the windows too much. There were also mosquitoes. On the third night, we noticed a jar of moldy q tips near the sink. We didn't open it as we don't use q tips but it was placed very close to where I placed my toothbrush. Absolutely terrifying and really questions if the room was cleaned before we moved in. Again, we reported this and only got an apology. The owner checked on us in person a few days later but throughout our 14 night stay, she came to check on us only once. It was implied the previous guest must've left food in the room which caused roaches. At that point, I stopped bringing up other issues as I'm too tired postpartum and want to focus on rest and taking care of my baby. The room was also very dry and stuffy. My skin was constantly cracked and my baby's nose was stuffy. We had to go out to buy nasal solution to clear baby's nose as he has a hard time breathing. There's a small humidifier in the room which we had to figured it out ourselves and it only humidified a small corner of the room. No AC in the room. Room layout was also very odd with the sink outside of the bathroom and across the other side of the room making it inconvenient to wash hands. Wifi was very slow and unstable. The video call with the therapist was very choppy. No changing table in the room, so we changed our baby in the bassinet which got peed on a lot. No one came to clean the peed bassinet. Robes, slippers, diapers were poor quality. Supplies were scarce, we asked for a refill on diapers and they only gave us 4 diapers. Location - neighborhood has many unhoused outside and the cvs in the area was robbed while shopping for the nasal solution. Building is old and outdated with creaking floors. Windows were done poorly so pests got in. Guidebook in the room referenced the Fairmont hotel, their old location but this new location was a real letdown and management did not clean the place prior to guests moving in nor kept the place clean. Services - No room cleaning, no changing the sheets, robes, regardless of length of stay. Towels are refilled if asked, same for dirty towel collection. No housekeeping on the weekends so no refills on toilet paper, towels and garbage collection. The village staff occasionally picks up garbage in the weekends but we had to ask. Staff - maybe 2 were great but some were not very responsive or helpful. Took very long to respond to help weigh our baby or to help clean bottles which delays the time for us to feed our baby. Food - I wasn't too picky on food, maybe too greasy and it's the same food choices every day. Some of the food brought over was not covered and exposed to the air which didn't feel sanitary. Food portion was inconsistent and sometimes they forgot a side or a drink. Breakfast time was also too late in the morning. Parent lounge - the snacks and refreshments never got restocked. Classes - not enough classes to offer. We ran out of classes after a week. Some classes were not very useful and only 5-10 minutes long. Spa - had a facial that left my face oily. This was included with the 14 night stay but the quality did not align with price. Tip was not included and felt obligatory. Owner said esthetician was a contractor which was odd because the esthetician's picture was on the staff board. After - the exit interview was very awkward as there's no interviewer. They forgot to collect the room key and asked us 24 hours after we checked out, so we had to make an extra trip to return them the next day. They also sent an email to ask for tips. Really? My advice - I don't recommend booking your stay here. With this price, the services and amenities are very lacking. We should've just walked out on the first night we saw roaches and asked for a refund or file a chargeback. Instead, we were too tired so we ended up putting our health at risk for living in a pest infested room for 14 nights.

She reviewed his essays timely with constructive feedback that helped give him a competitive advantage and made him stand out among so many applicants. As a parent, you naturally want the counselor to weigh your choices more heavily than the student. However, Tiffany tries her best to balance out the differences in choices. Tiffany's templates were very helpful and she had a lot of good references to share. Both us and our son had weekly action items. Our meetings with her were on time, focused and kept us moving forward. She took us step by step and explained clearly. There were some moments where it felt like things were moving a little too fast in areas we wanted to spend more time, but when we asked for clarification, she did provide it. Tiffany's systematic approach to the college application process, along with her recommendations on schools based on our son's interests, contributed to the high volume of acceptance letters from schools of his choosing. As a family, we committed to the university that best suited our son's personality, needs, and goals. Tiffany was there every step of the way.
