I probably wouldn't trust this place if you want your vehicle to run it's best for a long time. The guys working there were unprofessional, a little too social, and took off with my credit card for a really long time. When i gave them a coupon, the guy said he couldn't honor it. The manager wouldn't allow it. That doesn't seem right, considering it had the company logo and business address right on the coupon I got in the mail. 1. If I could give this place and this manager less than one star, I would. 2. I have a high mileage VW that has been using non-synthetic oil for over 80,000 miles, and at the recommendation of my mechanic, I've decided to continue with regular oil, even though VW calls for synthetic. 3. I've been to this place several times, and the guy running the place always gives me a hard time about wanting non-synthetic oil, but in the end, gives me what I want. He is rude, always seems angry, and really shouldn't be allowed to talk to customers with such a bad attitude. 4. Today was the straw that broke the camels back. He told me that he would not put non-synthetic oil in a German car, that it was against company policy. I told him to check his records, I'd been in 4 or 5 times before, and that was not the policy before. When he refused to change the oil to my specifications, I told him to close the hood, that I'd just go somewhere else for an oil change. 5. It's no surprise now that I think about it, that whenever I've been there in the past, I've always been the only customer. I'll steer all my friends and family away from this place. read more

Please note: I couldn't choose zero stars, and whatever happened to 'the customer is always right'. I had the strangest experience. I went in for an oil change next to the car wash and should have sensed the kind of people I was dealing with when the mechanic peeled off the sticker from my previous oil change and said to his helper 'hey, he got his last change from (name of competitor), maybe you should check for leaks'. Whatever. The work was done fine, maybe a bit pricey but hey, I had a coupon for $5 off. When I was given my paperwork the mechanic said that this would entitle me to a free car wash next door. The next morning (I live 1/4 mile away) I pulled into the car wash and showed the attendant my invoice for my oil change and explained I was there to have my free car wash performed. He returned with the car wash receipt and I went inside to settle up. I handed the woman at the register the receipt along with the oil change invoice and she glared at it for a few moments and said 'this is only good for the same day you had the oil change' in a nasty tone of voice, clearly implying that there was absolutely point in arguing with her. I walked over to the oil change building, told the mechanic, who ushered me into the managers office. I explained that no one mentioned this 'same day' restriction, that I only live 1/4 mile away and had I been told I would have come back again. He scowled and scribbled a note on my invoice and said 'take this to the car wash cashier'. I went back to the car wash with the note and the woman grumbled and said 'that'll be $11.73 ( or something like that). I said I didn't understand, I was here for my FREE car wash. She said the wash slip the attendant gave me was for the ELITE ($21.99 or so) wash. I said 'I showed him the oil change invoice and clearly said I was here for my FREE car wash'. I said 'All I expect is what your company offered me, nothing more, nothing less'. I went into the the waiting area as my car began its way through the wash machine, and the car wash manager poked his head into the waiting area and snapped something about checking with the lube manager and he swore they told me about the same day restriction (duh, how else would he respond, CYA ya know) and that I then threatened that I was going to call the police on them (what a joke). In the end they ran my car through the wash machine (probably without any soap) and they didn't turn on the blowers to dry it off. I have never been treated with so much hostility, all over them failing to tell me that the FREE car wash was only valid the same day as the oil change. I should have raised the 'red flag' when the mechanic started out his work by bad mouthing their competition, guess where I'm going back to now. In closing, I have been using that car wash for at least 20 years, though I believe new owners took over around 5 years ago. Maybe there's been a more recent change in owner/management? All I can say is 'get a life people', what a rotten stink you made over a lousy FREE car wash. I will never return and have informed everyone in my circle of friends about my experience. I'm sure they'll pass it on even further, and that YELP readers will see this too. Good riddance. PS I glanced over at some other reviews and I see that I'm not alone, though I can't stress how much hostility they showed to me, this must be a challenging place to work at, I'm sure. I.E. if they treat a customer that badly, I can only imagine how they would treat an employee. Just look at my case, the mechanic must have been so terrified to tell the truth about omitting telling me about the same day restriction, he probably thought he'd get fired over a free car wash. So they took it out on me instead. What a class act. read more

So...here's a screwed up one - I pull into Solar Lube Cocoa Beach and asked how much for an oil change. The rep, Austin, said $32 + tax or you can go to our Cocoa store for $24. I said "go ahead and do it". So they do the oil change and a new rep, Josh, told me that I needed an air filter. I asked how much more and he went to computer and said it would be $20 over the $65 oil change. When I said "whoa! That's not what I was quoted." He said "I don't care what you were quoted this is how much it costs." He even called Austin over who confirmed the price he told me! I told him that I would only pay what I was quoted and he said he was calling the police. Instead he called the owner who told him to drain it if I wouldn't pay the new cost. So they drained the new oil and put back in the old. Josh just said "Get the hell out of my shop!" What a rip off! Will never return read more

This is the worse car repair, oil change place on Merritt Island. I rate them a zero! They are horrible! I was a customer for a few years at Solar Lube til recently... I took my suv in to get a alignment and my drivers side window fixed. I was told it would be about 300 for all repairs and when I picked up my truck I was told the part they ordered only came with the window regulator not the motor. They put the regulator on but no motor so I paid the 300 and was told to bring it back to replace the motor. I don't think the regulator was even broken and my window wouldn't even move the next day. My alignment was also a nightmare. After they were finished my steering wheel pulled to the left and ended up causing wear to my new tires. When I brought my car back to see if they would fix it the manager blamed me and said he wouldn't fix it unless I paid again. Then he said I'd have to pay another 400 to get my window fixed. No thanks! He was rude and I walked out. I will never return there. I also was stolen from over Christmas when I came in for a oil change and car wash I left my car there when I came back my sons Christmas gift (a Google play card) was gone. Save your money and go elsewhere. These guys at Solar lube formerly Sonic Lube are crooks. They probably changed their name because of all the bad reviews. I had no idea so many people had bad experiences with this company. read more

I have always had a great experience here. However on Friday, 4/19/2018 I had ordered the Extreme car wash. At the end my drivers side mirror was hanging off. The attendant asked if I ever had this problem, and I said no. He called the Manager and basically he said that my mirror was so old that they were nor responsible and he taped it up. It's shocking to me that all of these other people had such terrible experiences with this company. I have been getting my oil changed here for a few years and i have always had a good experience. The people that work there are always friendly and i think their prices are very reasonable. This particular visit, my right headlight was out, and they changed it for $10. I mean, how much is a headlight anyway, $8? Just do it! I also had them replace my windshield wipers for $20. Done and done! Now i don't have to worry about those two things anymore. Thank you Sonic Lube!! And you get a free car wash when you get your oil changed. How awesome is that? I will always come here to get my oil changed and my car washed. read more

This place has went down hill as far as service go! I use to go here all the time and get EXCELLENT service and my car was always done A1! But I think it's under new management and it's in the crap hole! Got my car washed here and they left my window down about 2 inches, so the inside of my car got wet! I informed management, all they did was put some towels down for about a min! THATS ALL! They didn't even offer to use the wet vac! I was livid! I had to go get the water out my car myself! Not to mention my car had water all over it still, they didn't even completely dry the outside! I will NEVER go here again!!!! read more

I should have read reviews before going to this business. i recently called in for a wheel alignment. The service tech said it would be 42.95 out the door. I said great proceeded to make appt. when I showed up I was taking a important business call and had not even came into business the tech rushes out to my car and urges me to get out which I found quite rude. He proceeds to do the so called alignment which took 10 minutes comes out and tell me it is going to be 75.00 dollars now and would not release car till I paid it, then proceeded to tell me my battery was weak. I told him I have had no starting issues and I did not come in here for battery repair I came in for alignment. This business has no morals and is out to rip off customers. I contacted supervisor and he said alignments are 80. I realized then they have no set price and charge what they feel. I will never go back. read more

I would give them a zero stars if possible. They broke the handle off of our dipstick and didn't tell us. When we confronted them they claimed the vibration from driving the car broke it after we left. I took it to a real mechanic (40 yrs. at gm) who managed to get the dipstick out and he said that there was no way they were telling the truth. It cost me $20 for a new dipstick. I just left this place and am completely appalled. I didn't see the Yelp reviews before going or I probably wouldn't have. Instead I looked at the Google reviews which were more positive which I can only guess have been manipulated by the shop. Like others, I pulled up to the drive and looked at the sign to determine whether I would want to purchase an oil change. The sign listed an oil change for $32. When the employee approached my door, I asked if they had any special offers for new customers and he told me he could give me 10% off. After I drove into the bay and they checked my lights, the manager proceeded to tell me how I had two different options for oil. I opted for the standard oil option not the premium. Apparently the standard oil for my vehicle at this shop (including cost of service) is $75. The manager claims to have told me the price was $75. While I don't deny hearing that price, I thought it was in relation to the premium oil I opted out of. Had they given me a write up beforehand starting the oil change and it's anticipated charges, I could have clarified, yet they told me they would just ring it up after. Hindsight being what it is, that was a red flag! When I came to check out, he told me the cost was $75 after my 10% discount. I asked him to repeat himself and asked why it was so much higher than even a dealership would charge. His reasoning was that change the oil quickly and dealerships make you wait around for hours. I mention that I wasn't in a rush and the time wasn't worth the added cost for me, and asked if the oil was any different than a dealership would use and he then proceeded to tell me that dealerships get better price on the oil. I told him that I was not comfortable paying $75 and he said "fine! I'll just charge you $32 and take it out of my paycheck." When I responded that I didn't ask him to take it out of his paycheck and could I please talk to a manager, he told me he was the manager. I asked if I was the first one who has ever been confused about the price considering the sign upfront. He told me he's been managing the place for year and has never had a problem. Obviously the reviews here prove that's not the case. I suppose I'm fortunate to have left there only paying $32 as some have not been so lucky, but it's safe to say I will never return or condone patronage of this local business. When I suggested they update their process to include a write up beforehand he told me it was too "time consuming" to do it beforehand for every customer. He must be making so much off those who don't question the price that it's worth the risk of an unhappy customs here and there that only pay what the oil change is worth. That's one business model, I guess. But not one that will stand the test of time on this small island! read more

In all my years of driving I have never personally gotten an oil change. It was either my dad or my husband who took care of that for me. I Decided to take initiative and get an oil change yesterday as I was 1000 miles over. Drove past this place and was hesitant Because of the reviews but I wanted to give them a shot anyway. My wife took her vehicle to this location for an oil change. The technician recommended a coolant flush. She declined and was told that the radiator was near empty and she was at risk of overheating. He then said they could fill the coolant for $30. She call me and I told her to decline. 10 minutes later, when she arrived home, I checked the coolant level. The radiator was 100% full and the reservoir was near the low indicator. It took ~2 oz. of coolant to bring the reservoir to mid-level. This technician flat out lied about the coolant level and chance of overheating. Additionally, $30 to top off coolant if it was low is outrageous. Actually, this same location topped off my coolant last Saturday and only charged me $2.99. The tech that checked the air filter also failed to reconnect a vacuum hose that connects to the air filter cover. When left disconnected the check engine light comes on after a few miles. You can't remove this cover without disconnecting this tube, so the tech should have known to reconnect it. If you need an oil change and a car wash they do a fine job. Just take any other service recommendations from them with caution, unless you have money to burn. Personally, I will not give this business with dishonest business practices any more of more business. Hey Yelp, why is my review classified as not recommended along with 4 other Sonic Lube reviews? The one review that that is recommended has only 2 useful votes while mine has 6. That seems a bit fishy to me. read more

Yelp, please allow for negative stars because this place doesn't even deserve a zero. Avoid this place at all cost. They are cheating liars that will overcharge, give you lesser quality products then told, and horrible customer service. I went in for a high mileage oil change which when manufactured is mixed as a part synthetic blend. During my wait, I noticed them pumping the oil from the same 50 gallon drum as the standard conventional oil, and come to find out after inquiring, they did actually use conventional oil and added some cheap knockoff additive called "True Brand" High Mileage Treatment instead of using a synthetic blend like I had been lead to believe. When I called them out about this and told them this was not what I paid for ($70 btw), they insisted it was the same thing and that I was to stupid to know. I was $50 for a high mileage oil change (includes up to 5 quarts) and then they charged me $8 for each additional quart (2 total). (so that is $40 for oil and $10 for labor?) They charged me $8 per quart under the impression it was part synthetic when it was actually just conventional. There sign says $33 for a conventional oil change, if labor is $10, that's $4.60/ quart, so why did I pay $8/ quart? I went back after leaving and I asked for the bottle of treatment they used and asked how many quarts of oil it treated and they told me it was up to 11 quarts. After reading the bottle, it said 4-6 and my truck requires 7 quarts of oil. So they used a product that doesn't even meet the specs of my oil capacity. They were condescending when I was aggravated and misspoke and used the term gallon instead of quart and then called my car a piece of $h!t. Even the owner was there and he acted like a total jerk. His son is a technician there and if you ever need oil advice, please go see him because he knows everything there is to know about oil apparently. I believe they acted the way they did because I called them out on their little scam. After I pulled off the lot a second time, I pulled over to make sure they didn't leave my oil cap off in an attempt to sabotage my car. As soon as I opened the hood, a piece of 1x2 about 16 inches long fell out from under. This could have done some serious damage to my fan clutch and serpentine belt. I cant prove they put it there but I know it was them because I typically do my own oil changes and I was just under the hood servicing my air filter and I have NEVER put wood under my hood. This place needs to go out of business so I a more reputable, consumer friendly place can take over. Don't support this business and let them drown in there own lies. Karma is a b!$#& and they will get their day. They had me trespassed when I wouldn't leave until they gave me my money back. Not that I'd go back anyways. read more

Took my vehicle here to be serviced. The manager on staff over charged my wife for an oil change and recommended a coolant flush, and a transmission flush along with a differential service and front/rear brakes. Luckily my wife called me, as I service all my vehicles at our local mechanic of which the transmission fluid and coolant were just changed when I got a new radiator. Brakes were also just done not even 5,000 miles ago. Manager was rude when she declined. Would not recommend this shady place to anyone! read more

I showed them the owner's manual and also called dealership, but they still insisted I needed the more expensive service eventhough it contradicted the owner's manual and dealership. Be careful if you use them they will tell you it was that way when you brought the car in and will refuse to use their insurance company to repair or fix any damages. I'm trying to find out who their insurance company is so I can fix the thousands of dollars worth of damage they did to my vehicle! The owners are dishonest and horrible people. Solar Lube employees have tried to sell me a synthetic oil change twice now for my new car. Both times I left and went back to the dealership which was actually a lot cheaper. Both different cars. They must try to sell synthetic oil to everyone with a new car. Plus it would have cost me $85 they said at Solar Lube and when I left and asked my dealership about it, the dealership only charges $65 for synthetic if I wanted it (but they told me that isn't the type of oil they have been putting in it, so I didn't get it). Dishonest... They told me my warranty on my car would no longer be any good if I didn't use synthetic oil. My dealership told me that is not true. I got my oil change at the dealership and drove by Solar Lube on my way home, (this was Friday evening rush hour) and Solar Lube was empty, no business. I believe it and I understand why. I will not go back again. Too bad, it would have been so convenient to get my car washed and oil changed at the same time. I'll continue to use the car wash, but never again for the Solar Lube. They have lied to me one too many times. read more
