Rooms are nice and have everything you want. The toiletries are cheap and watery. Toilet paper is also cheap. Shower is nice with multiple jets. The staff (other than Martin the caterer who was amazing) was just terrible. They don't care, and offer very little help and seemingly hate to be there. There is no food at all on property (the Asian place nearby is pretty good). Solara is not really near anything you can walk to so if you do not have a car -forget anything to do. Each time I spoke to the staff the answer was some form of "we are a resort and don't do that." The meeting rooms are sad and tired. Lights are burned out all around the place. Sidewalks are not cleared of snow and ice so there is always a danger when walking. read more

We stayed at an Air BnB here. The Air BnB was nice and clean and wonderful. The resort is getting sort of run down though. The elevators are broke, there is no lobby, the pool is yuck, the grounds need upkeep, the coffee shop isn't good, etc. Unless you need the space, the kitchen, the washer dryer, then the Malcolm is a better bet. read more

Stayed over on a Saturday for a ladies retreat with lady friends in my field who love being in the mountains as much as I do. stayed in a 2 bedroom and saw 3 bedroom 4/5 atmosphere and location. Great view of mountains from the room. 4/5 setup of rooms - I like the bathrooms sink and tiles/ the counter looks like a rock which I found really unique. See photo of the edge of the bathroom sink counter. Kitchen was nicely setup with great refrigerator and stocked well. 4/5 cleanliness 4/5 staff were friendly and helpful and asked questions. I did not get a chance to check out the Pool and spa, however upon another visit I might just do that. Because I absolutely love that type of thing Overall, great place. Update: I did an early morning swim in the hot pool and cold pool. Very nice set up of the warm water area. The cold pool has a nice mural to look at if swimming face up. read more

Love staying here when we travel to Canmore. The rooms are beautiful and the views of the mountains are breathtaking. Prices are decent unless it is high tourist time. You get a fully functional modern kitchen, living room with fireplace and TV and the bedroom has a fireplace and TV too! This place is interesting. I can't say for the star rating you'd get what you expect, but I can say what you get is good. Cons: 1. Customer service wasn't great - definitely not a resort quality experience. 2. Amenities - kinda sucked. Jacuzzi is not great, super brightly lit. Pool area is a but dingy. Pool is tiny! 3. No restaurant on sit but Table is walking distance at Coast Suites and super delish. Also there is a Safeway close by to get food. 4. Spa -Did not go and not sad about it. Facilities don't feel like a spa resort. 5. Our TV worked for like 5 seconds all trip - super annoying Pros: 1. Rooms are basically apts. you get your food and can cook - thru have it all including a BBQ. 2. They have a movie in the theater each night pretty nice 3. Bike rentals! 4. Great showers!!! I'd stay again bc being Banff is nuts. Parking is a joke. Better to stay here and book a tour with Brewster! read more

Was here for a work conference and it was definitely a beautiful resort. Our caterer wasn't very vegan friendly but they did try and I appreciate the effort. The cabin I had was unreal, it was so gorgeous, with a full kitchen and 2 beds. the fire place brought some cozy vibes and the living room area was very nice as well. I felt like it could have comfortably fit 10 people. Really really loved how it looked as well. The movie theatre showed shrek. The shower has 3 jets that hits you from all sides, very cool. Front desk was very nice and helpfl to me a vast majority of the time, although they didn't communicate with the caterer about how I would like some non-dairy milk which was not cool. I would come back if I were going to banff, but I definitely see this as a place that you are almost just renting out an apartment, don't expect it to be like a hotel where you get super pampered. read more

We booked a two bedroom via Trip Advisor. We were on the second floor in the C building. The unit was clean and as described. The beds have an odd design where the sides are longer and I probably stubbed my toes at least ten times. Beware. The beds, sheets & pillows were comfortable. We did have some issues with hot water. If we took a late morning shower there was no hot water. If we took a shower at night we had plenty of hot water. It was never difficult to find a parking space. The elevator was in working order. The pool and spa were also working. It is a bit outside of the center of town but totally walkable if in good shape. The towels could be updated. They are on their last leg. The first two nights we had no noise issues. The last night we had a family above us and we heard everything. It was very difficult to sleep. The area by the elevator was never cleaned the four days we were there. The maid does come everyday. The staff is direct but not overly friendly. There are units for sale if interested. Overall not bad but for the cost the lack of hot water, the noise level and the bed makes me not give a higher review. It is the summer season and 150 anniversary so I did expect everything to be more expensive. read more

We love this place. It's where we stay when we go to Canmore and have been there a couple of times. It's very clean, rooms are nicely decorated and have all the comforts & tools from home (toaster, blender, cork screw)... that you don't always see in condo hotels. Beds are comfy and we can't hear a lot of noise between suites or in the hallway. There is a great little hot tub & wading pool, so ideal with kids. Staff is always friendly and helpful. Looking forward to there being some kind of retail/restaurant off the lobby at some point, but definately my favourite home away from home in Canmore. read more

We really enjoyed our 5 night stay. The property is tastefully appointed with nice art work, matching furniture, appliances and fixtures. The beds are very comfortable with nice sheets which is NICE. This is one of the few places where I actually liked the bed. The bathroom and kitchen have above average fixtures. Every bedroom has its own fireplace and flat screen TV. The balconies have tasteful outdoor furniture and an electric BBQ. The fitness center (One Wellness) is a full service spa with a small but adequate gym with some free weights and cardio equipment. They also have personal trainers on staff that can also give private Pilates lessons. There is a small indoor jacuzzi area that also has a kids wading pool and water play/splash area. The property is well maintained and I would definitely come back and stay here again. read more

After a long road trip from MT this was a welcomed oasis. Check-in was easy, parking was a breeze and the location is convenient.When we walked into the condo my husband said, "This is the place that I deserve." We were both impressed with the condo. We rented a one bedroom corner place on the first floor. Great amount of space with a high end feel. There was a fire place in the living room and in the bedroom. Leather furniture in the living room and in the kitchen. I was a bit weary of renting a place close to a playground, but it ended up working out okay. No one really used the playground, or we were gone when it was in use. The elevator was painfully slow. So be prepared and be patient. Book online, ask for a park pass. read more

Stayed in the three bedroom suite that was fully equipped with a kitchen, an electric kettle (I need one of those) and great views. We didn't spend a lot of time here (hiking and all that), but the beds were comfortable and the master bath had a claw foot bathtub and a cool shower. Views were also great! When I come back, I will definitely stay here. read more

I stayed here for two nights last year, as I was attending a function. I didn't have time to take advantage of most amenities, but feel I was able to form enough of an opinion that I wouldn't return by choice to see the rest of Solara. I shared a two bedroom suite with three friends. I was surprised that each bedroom only had one bed. Everything else about the suite was pretty fabulous. However, each of us had room key failure at least once. Two of us had room key failure twice and the only excuse the staff could come up with is that we would have had our keys too close to a credit card or cell phone. Yeah, no. My friend purposely avoided this after the first failure and it didn't make a difference. This was frustrating. Walking through the resort is not overly intuitive or convenient (depending on where your room is) and I frequently ran across people that were confused. There is no coffee shop, restaurant or lounge on site. I felt that I was complaining about the resort almost as often as I was praising it. Not good. The conference rooms are suitable enough but none of the three I was in had any natural light. If the weather is nice, you really feel like you're missing out on the mountain views and experience of Canmore if you have to be indoors most of the day. Call me spoiled, but Solara just didn't do it for me. read more

Upon checking in the first night they upgraded me to a 2 bedroom suite with a great view of mountains all around. Pretty amazing........spacious for sure, baths are nice. There are a large amount of condo resorts in Canmore as they were built for the Calgary Olympics and most are operated as VRBO or resorts. The staff and facilities are great, even in the Covid Era, but the cleaning left something to be desired. There were still dishes in the dishwasher, old coffee in the machine, mold and slime in the washing machine, rugs were in need of cleaning and there was a significant amount of dust throughout the suite. We will not be coming back! read more

We stayed here one night while attending a wedding at the same facility. We didn't know that the units were privately owned suites - we were expecting more of a hotel experience. The rooms were amazing! Nicely decorated, high end finishings. We were upgraded upon check-in to an incredible 2-bedroom suite with a lovely balcony. We didn't need the kitchen facilities in our suite but they were well stocked and I wish we had the chance to cook there! Our first complaint is the elevator. We stayed in the Aurora building, and the elevator was sooooo slow. Even in my heels after the wedding, it was faster to take the stairs than wait for the elevator. The second downside of this resort is that there is no restaurant on site. There was a small one across the street at a different resort, but nowhere else to grab a drink with friends without driving into town. For most people this wouldn't be an issue because of the insuite kitchen, but we didn't bring food or drinks with us. Overall, a beautiful place with amazing rooms. Not worth the price if you're using it just as a hotel though. Be sure to take full advantage of all the in-suite amenities! read more

We stayed here in October with another couple. Check in was very quick and easy. The staff were very pleasant. We were in the standard 2 bedroom which was plenty big enough for 4 adults. The suites are nicely done but starting to show some wear. This did not affect us at all. The kitchen had limited supplies for cooking/eating but there is enough to make due. Bathooms/showers are very nice. Beds are very comfortable. Pillows are also comfortable but bring your own pillow if you don't like thick pillows (I bring my own whenever we travel). For the amenities, I only used the fitness facility. It had a good selection of equipment and weights and was very clean. I did see the spa and it looked very inviting! Heated underground parking is always a pleasant bonus but parking stalls can be pretty tight if you have a larger vehicle. Lots of clearance for larger vehicles. We had a $20 credit voucher that we had received upon reserving the room through their own website. We showed it to the front desk agent when we checked in and were told that it would be applied. It never was even when we questioned it at check out. Very nice hotel with great views. Will stay here again. read more

This place is super expensive but extremely nice. My room is a one bedroom suite with a king sized bed. The rooms are like condos with a full kitchen, living room and of course, a wine cooler!!! There is also underground parking which is fantastic. Check in is not until 4 PM but when I arrived early, they were able to check me in right away. 8-night stay mid June to explore Banff / Jasper. We stayed in a 2-bedroom premium suite which is well equipped. Plenty of dishes and flatware for our group of 6. Awesome showers. Staff said they were near full occupancy, but it was super quiet and we never had any problems finding a spot in the parkade. Fitness center had treadmills, ellipticals, bikes, rowing machines and I was surprised to find a complete power rack and barbell tower. Looks like it's a mini commercial gym with classes, but I never had a problem with crowds there either. If I were to nitpick, I'd ask for more lighting in the suites. These eyes aren't that old, but had a hard time seeing to shave and playing board games at the dining table. Solara is right off the main highway and it felt good to be able to get away from the crowds at the end of the day. read more

The guest service staffs were super non cooperative! I left behind a pouch with a valuable band in it. Contacted them early morning after. They did not show any interest in finding the item, and also was not apologetic about not finding it. I was obviously an out of town tourist and had to call at least 10 times for them to even move a finger in a timely manner. At the end, they never found it, which again evidences that house keeping might steal your belongings and they have zero enforcement. Would never ever recommend nor go back to the resort. read more

Would never set foot in this resort ever again. Hallways are dark and dirty as are the rooms. Shared a two bedroom suite with hide-abed for wedding, eight phone calls and personal appearances later we finally got sheets for the hide abed but no pillows as they apparently didnt have any. Had to call for clean towels and toilet paper. The room never was cleaned in the four days we stayed. There is no customer service or communication at this resort! If planning a stay bring your own bedding, cleaning supplies and lightbulbs! read more

It wasn't awful, but for the $$$$, I expect better attention to the details. On the plus side, the setting and grounds were beautiful, and the condos were well designed and clean. While you could hear noises from other rooms in the hallways, inside the condo was very quiet. I really enjoyed the views of the mountains from the deck. However, there were a whole host of things that could have been done better. The oven didn't work and they were unable to fix it. One of the reasons for renting a condo is to not have to go out for every meal. With no oven, we had to eat out for most of our meals. They also didn't do anything to rectify this. There was also a lack of kitchen equipment. For a condo that sleeps six, we had 4 plates and 1 bowl. Good thing we were eating out every meal due to the lack of an oven. The website advertised blackout shades which would have been nice given the long days with sunset around 10 and sunrise around 5. Instead we had light streaming in at 5am. The beds were messily made upon arrival, with the sheets not fully tucked in and hanging out. Also, on one of the beds, the sheets had holes in them. One bedroom was supposed to have a king bed, but it was actually two twins pushed together, which is just cheap for a high end place. Bathrobes were a nice touch, but a couple also had holes. Not exactly the "sheer luxury" and "high-end details" they advertise on their website. read more

Absolute shit service! Don't ask me why we've come back??? Maybe because they always have availability, and that's probably because no one returns. They run through new staff every 3 months, they refrain from actually helping anyone in any manner! You're lucky if you have coffee in your room and even luckier if they deliver any. A number of years ago we had our wedding here and I make sure to put it on the "NO" list to any of my wedding clients who are looking for a venue. At our wedding, they told me they would coordinate with my other vendors, instead they refused to open the doors to our conference room or the kitchen so my caterers and florists could set up. They said they would set up the room, they didn't. Instead I had to call on ALL of my wedding guests to help set up our room for the wedding reception. They don't answer the phone at the front desk and when they do, they're quick to tell you why they can't help you. The usual answer is "I don't have anyone who can". Go figure, your staff turnover is unheard of. If you stay here, you're on your own for everything. Don't count on much. They were supposed to build a restaurant 4 years ago and it still doesn't exist. No food. No restaurant. No service. To make it even worse, THEY get upset with you when you finally say something. read more

This was our second stay at the Solara and it was beautiful! The suite was spotless, beds are cozy and the gym is awesome. My kids really enjoyed the movie theatre. I would have given it 5 stars but we had an awful experience with the check in. The front desk manager that checked us in was very rude and truthfully we felt that we were not welcome. I emailed the GM when we returned and I have yet to hear back from them. I believe that the check in is just as important as the room as this is the first point of contact in welcoming guest and the Solara failed in that regard. Front desk never picked up the phones so if you needed anything extra you had to trek down to the lobby and ask for it. The bed was kind of weird in that it sticks out at the bottom, a definite toe stubber! And I agree with another reviewer that the towels need to be replaced. They recently renovated the pool area and it was awful, tiny pool and very large hot tub and just overall a dark and dingy area. Will probably be looking elsewhere for our next trip to Canmore. read more

This is one of the nicest resorts I have been to. My husband and I and a couple of our friends shared a suite for the long weekend and we had a great time! The suite was more than spacious enough for two couples. The room was modern yet felt very much like a cabin, everything was spotless and the beds are amazing. The fireplace in the bedrooms adds to the romance of the Rockies and the full kitchen was perfect and we had everything we needed. The only thing I could even think of to improve this resort would be to offer more selection as far as food goes. They offer pizzas you can take to your room and cook but do not offer anything else. If you aren't prepared enough to bring food with you then by the one you consider it- it's too late. Being a fair walk from the main streets of Canmore this was the only time we needed to go elsewhere for something we were looking for.
