We had not seriously considered going solar for our home due to very limited South roof exposure, heavy shade, and relatively low electric bills. Several companies approached us and gave presentations, did "calcs" (no light meter on roof?) and more or less confirmed our assumptions. The cost /benefit they offered was simply too high based upon the number of panels they said would be required to get the guaranteed production required for our 2700 SF, two story home. So when Solar Co approached us, we were dubious, but one essential difference immediately got out attention; we would be buying their system, not leasing. And, their engineers, using light meters and careful calculations, were able to guarantee the appropriate production using our unshaded East and West exposures. Their price, including installation, was also VERY favorable compared with the others, and using more panels than offered by the competition. Not only were we impressed by the thoroughness of their sales presentation, but each SolarCo employed was considerate, friendly, and very knowledgeable about the system, installation, and whole process. During the install, they took great care to clean up, and they left my landscape undisturbed when delivering the panels. We are currently producing about 15-20% more energy than promised, which is also impressive. I have already recommended them to several neighbors considering Solar. Even the building inspector commented on the high quality of the installation. We have been thinking of installing solar panel on our house for several months but didn't like to look of the panels on the front the houses we had seen with tile roofs. After talking with Solarco, they stated that they could install the solar panels level with the existing roof tiles that greatly improved the look on our roof. The roofing team from First Rate Roofing (Kevin Payzant) Scheduled the days and time he would be at our home and, unlike most contractors he showed up at the scheduled time, performed the work and even fixed a few loose shingles on the back side of our roof. Next, the Solarco guys (Manny and Matt) showed up as scheduled and worked late into the evening to finish the solar panel installation. Solarco did what the other solar companies promised and couldn't deliver. I talked to a number of other solar companies and they either wanted to lease me a system for the next 20 years or sell me a system way too large for my needs at a very high price. SolarCO did a great job with my installation. The installers answered all my questions during installation. I had to get a new panel so one of the things I misunderstood was that I could alter the amps on some of my panel but discovered that the amps was fixed. I only had room to grow. Oh well.
