There has been NO CARPET CLEANING service provided. On or about 12/2/25 I spoke with Tabatha at WaterBear, explaining that I had some wine stains on a small area of carpet. I asked if that was something her company could help with. She said she would send someone to take a look. A gentleman, who introduced himself as the owner of the company, came to my home and looked at the stains. He said he thought the carpet should be steam cleaned, but his big truck was out for repair and he would have Tabatha call and set up an appointment with me to get the work done. Tabatha never called. A couple days later I called the company back and asked if there was a problem, explaining my situation. The receptionist apologized and said she'd have someone get back to me. No one has called me or been in touch. And today I get this invoice. I am pretty grossed out at the level of customer service, or lack thereof. Just to be clear, this invoice will not be paid. There was no service provided, no phone call to set something up, and no follow up by your company. I will find someone else to do the work.

Tim saw on line our appliances had been delivered and reached out indicating he was available to come right over which saved us a bunch of waiting around time due to the delivery window of 3 hours. We thought our whole day was filled with waiting for delivery first and then installation. Tim arrived and greeted me professionally and took a quick look at the work to be done. From start to finish, it was less than an hour and a half. Throughout, Tim was engaging without being distracted from his work. Careful with our counters, cabinets, flooring and other appliances, and just an overall really pleasant person to have in our home. While he didn't have to make any alterations to our existing cabinetry, I can only assume his work would have been excellent. I was very impressed with his ethical standards. In our conversations, he mentioned an experience he had with a prior customer who had purchased an appliance that wouldn't fit the space they had and when they tried to coordinate a return, the big box store refused the return and told them to find someone to sell the brand new appliance to, rather than making it right for the customer. Tim told me he stopped contracting with that big box store after that because they didn't put the client first. That impressed me. When we ran into electrical problems (which ended up not being due to installation, but rather was due to external factors that were NOT the fault of RH), I reached out and asked if they could come take a look. They came out the next day (less than 24 hrs after I initially texted), found the issue, and fixed it. We are so pleased we are planning on using them for future projects. I misplaced the the quote/paperwork from last year. And wasn't even sure which company had made the report. I called Top Hatter the other week, inquiring if they are the company who had seen us last year. The lady who answered the phone was cheery, did a quick search for my account, and had all the notes from last year, in front of her, in the company's system, with in seconds. Work was performed multiple times without prior approval or any written scope changes. Communication was extremely poor--many of our calls and emails went unanswered, and we often had to follow up repeatedly to get basic information. We also found ourselves continuously having to check if they were doing things properly. For example, they neglected to take moisture readings before removing the drying equipment to ensure that our house was indeed dry. Although they apologized, the same issues continued throughout the project. Dealing with a home mitigation situation is already stressful, and the lack of communication and clarity only made it worse. It is incredibly unsettling not knowing what is happening in your own home. Based on our experience, we would not recommend Harris Restoration, especially for insurance-related work, where clear documentation, transparency, and consistent communication are essential.

I declined the repair due to the excessive cost. Afterward, I personally investigated the issue and found that the real problem was a failed high-limit safety thermostat, which I replaced myself. What made this experience worse is that my credit card was charged $240 for a visit that lasted less than 5 minutes, even though no repair was performed and the diagnosis was incorrect. I contacted the company to resolve this matter and received no response. Taking advantage of customers' lack of technical knowledge through misdiagnosis and excessive charges is deceptive and should not be acceptable in any professional service business. As a business owner, this experience was frustrating enough that it made me seriously consider starting my own service company simply to protect other business owners from unnecessary repairs, inflated quotes, and careless diagnostics. I have retained all documentation related to this visit, including the written estimate, billing records, and evidence of the actual repair.
