Tried them out with a new client 2 class pack special! My first visit was this weekend and I took the Starter50: Introduction to SolidCore class. It was a great experience! Checking in was easy, and for my first time, it was so helpful to get a quick overview of the equipment and get full explanations and demos of the sets of exercises we were going to tackle. It was nice knowing what to expect ahead, and a good rotation through core, legs/glutes, obliques, and upper body. Lots of first or second timers and this class and I felt supported/guided. Instructor was walking around giving feedback, and asked ahead of time on permission for light touch corrections. It was a great pilates/strength training type workout! Adaptable to different experience and fitness levels. I'm definitely still sore two days out. I think most of the workout could be replicated at home with weights, bands, and sliders, but it's very fun to use the fancy reformer machine and be guided through / not have to plan or program a really effective workout. read more

[solidcore] - Pilates Near Me - Ann Arbor, Michigan

I've taken ~60 or so solidcore classes at this point in three different states at 5 different studios, so I've been able to experience a lot of variation in the classes offered. Overall solidcore is my favorite workout I've ever tried and I'm totally a super fan for life. Unfortunately this wasn't my favorite studio. Pros: 1. Instructor was phenomenal (I took class with Jane S) - she offered a lot of versatility in the class, offered plenty of modifications and amplifications, and clearly knew what she was doing. Gave shoutouts to individuals within the class which I always really like. Probably one of the best solidcore instructors I've taken class with 2. The class itself is awesome as mentioned above. I'm just totally obsessed with solidcore - can't recommend it enough for someone looking for a challenging but high-energy full body strength class. Cons: 1. The reformers at this studio needed a major facelift. They were rusty, the rubber covering the strings was falling off, and I think they have smaller platforms than the standard sweatlana (although that may have been my imagination). I'm not sure if they were just really old or maybe purchased from another studio secondhand or something but they were soooo bad compared to the quality that I'm used to at solidcore 2. No lockers in this studio (just bins) which is obviously a risk for theft, etc. not the end of the world but I feel like having lockers is a pretty baseline request All in all, I don't live in Michigan full time so I likely won't be back anyway, but if I did live in the area I'd return as I just absolutely love the workout. If you want your butt kicked to the moon and back, solidcore is the place to go. The machines can be intimidating at first but the instructors are good about helping you through the class your first time. It gets easier to catch on, but not so easy for your muscles (which is a good thing to make the most out of your workout). read more

You don't know what sore is until you've been to a SolidCore class. This is coming from a gal who swam/played water polo competitively, CrossFitted for 5+ years, is an OTF regular, and has tried probably ALL kinds of boutique exercise classes from infrared yoga to barre to spin to boxing, etc. My PCP recommended pilates for my back pain. So, I signed up for a 2 class client special. The class is essentially like a pilates reformer machine but with a solidcore twist. The instructors do a good job at explaining and guiding - so don't worry if you've never done a pilates class or have never used a reformer machine. Both times, I have been sore for DAYS and in places where I truly didn't know was possible - e.g. in-between each frickin' rib?! I took a class at SolidCore through "Class Pass" the other day and have to say I was wary that it wouldn't be a great workout. I've experienced the Pilates reformer before and have been utterly bored. HOWEVER - the darkness, the blue lights, the instructor and music was fantastic. I was shaking the whole time and continued to do so days after! Unfortunately, the price point for studios like this is too expensive for me as I need variety in my workouts. I know that you can purchase 10 classes for $199 but with my gym membership at $30/month I just can't swing the cost. Wish studios like this were attached to a gym. LA Fitness offers a proper HIIT class, could we add solidcore somewhere else? Will definitely take a few more classes in the future though. read more

I really love this studio. The workouts are fantastic, it's clean, aesthetically pleasing and the machines are nice. I find the attitude, kindness, and warmth of the staff to be the most important aspect of deciding wether I would regularly work out somewhere. And the instructors here definitely meet that standard of kindness that makes me feel welcome and want to return without hesitation. Fitness studios can be oddly intimidating. The workout you LOVE to hate... I've taken solidcore classes in a few cities and the Ann Arbor studio is fantastic. If you haven't taken a class before, be prepared to sweat and to shake. You will leave feeling exhausted! I thought I was strong, and then I realized that solidcore strong takes you to a whole new level. The music, the ambiance, the motivation: all great. Coach Rachel's classes are some of my favorites, but you can't go wrong with any instructor. Its a bit pricey, but they're always running promotions (including student discounts!). read more

Solidcore is the hidden gem of Ann Arbor. I originally tried this workout because it is Michelle Obama's workout of choice, and wow I couldn't love it more. Very difficult but rewarding. If you are a stressed graduate student, someone who wants to become more fit, or someone who wants to try a different workout than reps at a gym, Solidcore is an amazing atmosphere to work on personal growth and fitness. Ashley is an excellent manager who always goes above and beyond with communicating to customers. All of the coaches are incredible... they are very accepting of where you are at physically, remember your name, and could not be more kind. I am a novice and staff have been so encouraging. Highly recommend Solidcore for anyone who wants to try something new, find a method for stress relief, or grow in fitness. I couldn't recommend solidcore more. First class is free so you have nothing to lose by giving it a try :) read more

Since moving to Ann Arbor in June, [solidcore] has become my favorite workout. I've attended nearly 15 classes, and I cannot get enough. I love that each day of the month has a specific body focus (e.g., Glutes & Back, Legs & Triceps, etc.), so it's easy to understand what areas you'll be working and what will be sore the next day. The coaches are fantastic (so friendly and helpful), and they guide you through the day's workout, correcting you as you go. The workout centers around a modified pilates reformer (Sweatlana), and it kicks your butt! Five stars for [solidcore] that has me hooked and keeps me coming back for more! read more

Best workout I've ever paid for. Every time I go is a challenge and it's the only specialty studio that I think is worth the money.

I have gotten fantastic results since starting Solidcore. Improving core strength is good for everybody, but especially if you practice yoga or are a runner, I strongly recommend supplementing your training by going to Solidcore's classes a couple times a week based on my experience. Pair an effective workout with Solidcore's fantastic coaches, and you have an overall great workout experience! read more

I cannot recommend Ann Arbor [Solid Core] enough!!!!! I've been consistently going for 6 months and I'm totally hooked. I've done Boot Camp classes and various other group workout classes before in addition to going to the gym but this is 10x's better than any of those. It is a total body workout that varies from class to class but always includes core, legs and arms. The coaches are extremely friendly, encouraging and always push me to get my best work out possible. I am so glad I found this studio and this workout and cannot imagine my life without it now. read more

LOVE THIS WORKOUT! It's full body, not just core. Very effective for 50 min. of work. Plus, it's non-stop, so time flys. The trainers are awesome with lots of positivity and energy to keep you going hard. I'm a former professional athlete and mother of two. I've taken around 10 classes and I noticed more strength and improvements when doing other sports like volleyball, running & weight lifting. Only complaint is the $20/class is expensive, if you want to do it more than once a week. Nevertheless, I really love this workout! read more
