The classes and all instructors have been so nice and fun. I have yet to go to a class I haven't loved yet. Very intense full body workout! If this is your first class I recommend maybe arriving 15 mins before the class actually begins so that you can claim your spot, place your things in a locker and even do some pre-stretching because I got there just in time and had to jump straight into which was a bit overwhelming. Although, thoughout the course of the class I enjoyed the encouragement coming from the instructor, how clean the facility was and the workout itself wasn't like any other workout I've done so this was pretty cool! read more

Let me give it to you straight- solidcore is not for the faint of heart. Will you feel like you are dying the whole time? Yes. Will every muscle in your body be begging you to stop? Yes. For the entirety of the class, I am wishing it was over. However, after 6 months of doing solidcore, I feel that my fitness has been elevated to a level I didn't think was possible. I have never received so many compliments and the workout classes I used to go to before now feel easy. I also appreciate this studio's extremely flexible class times- you can go to a class basically whenever you want. Also, since the coaches follow a formula, you know you will get a great workout each time. I have NEVER left wishing I worked out harder. The studio is super flexible and, responsive and easy to contact through their email if you ever have any issues with class scheduling or classes that are expiring. If you are thinking about trying solidcore, I would give yourself at least 3 classes before you decide if it's for you or not because the class structure and using the machine is an adjustment. I can understand the hype about Solidcore. But for those who are looking for a pilates place that you can learn the more technical stuff and to correct your form, this is not it. I went to Solidcore twice with their new member deal (2 classes for $42) but I found the experience both quite similar. The class is not interactive as in that the instructor is not doing the moves together with you. The instructor instead is yelling at you the instructions while the music is blasting, making it super difficult to understand. This is frustrating because the instructions themselves are quite complex as it's not a simple "squat 10 times" but "put your foot on this platform and place your hands here and do this." For someone who has no experience with a reformer (the Pilates machine), it's quite hard to keep pace. Once you understand what to do, yes the moves are hard. But I don't mind that as I know that solidcore is known for their hard workouts. However, I wish it was easier to follow so that I could get to the hard workouts faster instead of wasting time trying to understand what is going on. I will say, the few days after solidcore, I was very sore. I appreciate the philosophy of solidcore about engaging in small repetitive movements to engage the core and other body parts. I wish I could have liked solidcore because it really is a good workout, but I found myself struggling and lost on the instructions 25% of the time. I fuckin love solidcore. Read some of the other reviews with low ratings because its too hard. It's called SolidCore because it will actually get you a solid core and that comes with hard work. I have been a fitness/yoga teacher for just about 6 years and a practitioner for 15. I teach a very hard class in the city and this is the only class in all of Philadelphia that can give it right back to me. The staff are all incredible/hard working/sweet/funny they also are on point with anatomy. They treat all clients like family and its really nice. It is my go to when I am having a hard day. This place definitely is somewhere you have to go at least 5 times before you're at least a tad comfortable for what you're in for over the course of the 45 torture session that you signed yourself up for. That being said, I've never been sore like this before. Truly a near impossible workout for even people that would consider themselves 'in shape.' To put it in perspective, I do soulcycle 1-2x/week and Barre3 1-2x/week and still had to back off 3-4 times throughout this workout because I truly experienced the 'muscle failure' that they talk about. These classes are AMAZING. I go to a local gym 5-6 times a week and the first time I attended a solidcore class, I felt like I had never worked out before! WOW. This class will make you work muscles that you did not even know existed. Your body will cringe and cry and BURN but it's all worth it in the end. Solidcore is basically lagree Pilates plus with slightly different reformers. Would recommend arriving to class a little bit early to go over the machine if you haven't used one of these before. Sarah was great! She makes sure your form is correct Music is upbeat and time goes by quickly! Downside: it is pretty pricey; I think the classes start at $30 each and get slightly lower with the packages. First class is $15 though! Also, there are only 12 reformers and the last class is at 6:30, which makes it very popular for the after work crowd. I went to Patrice's Solidcore class on Saturday with 2 of my friends. We all thought it was an excellent workout and were sore at the end of class! I go to the gym regularly and this class definitely worked my muscles in a new way!! Patrice was an amazing instructor. She was very friendly and easy to follow. I highly recommend you try the class! The studio was very clean. I only gave 4 stars because of the price. I'm totally hooked on [solidcore]! This is a difficult and rewarding workout that will have you sweating and smiling. The machine seems intimidating but you really pick it up quickly. The abs, arms, and leg exercises are all equally challenging. The results that you see from this class are incredible... and fast! I've noticed a huge difference in my arms and abs since starting this in September - and the strength I've gained has made me be able to challenge myself more in class. Even as you get "better" the more classes you take, it'll never get easy. Teachers are friendly, helpful and motivating and the studio is beautiful and clean. THIS CLASS WAS HARD! I felt the burn in some of my muscles immediately because the focus of that day was arms so my arms were crying after this class. My abs, not as much. But fast forward 24 hours. The pain slowly crept in and got more and more intense. It was a burn that lasted a few days and that's when I knew I had gotten a great workout. The staff was awesome - super friendly and the instructor was really great. I loved that the class ended by high-fiving everyone around you. It was really cool and an awesome way to make a community. A few reasons why I never went back to the studio. 1) Price: my student budget cannot afford $30/class and there's no student discount; this was the biggest issue. 2) Distance: this place is so far away from where I live and not even on my route home from school; I'd just have to go too far out of the way to do it and I'm not sure that I'm disciplined to do it. 3) Contact: after the first class I wanted to try a few more and there was a 5 for $125 deal for first timers; I emailed back and forth with the studio manager and at the end of the conversation asked to purchase the package, but never heard back from her. I even called a few times to get the purchase done and heard nothing. Honestly, despite the other two reasons, I was willing to give it a try but since I never heard back I just figured it wasn't meant to be. I think studios like this are great - the reformer is an insane machine to workout on but it gets the results that you might be looking for so if you're willing to splurge, I highly recommend trying at least one class. Hopefully your experiences getting the new student discount will be better than mine! read more

I was a big fan of solidcore until I had to deal with customer service. I have been ignored after multiple attempts reaching out to assist me and ended up losing 2 classes. On the first occasion, I was scheduled to come to class with a new instructor, which I was really excited to do. I received an email 2 hours before the class saying that instructor has changed. The email read that the studio was positive that all instructors provide amazing experience; however, if the notice was sent less than 10 hours before the class, they said they would give an option to reschedule the class. I reached out to the person listed in the email to re-schedule my class an hour later after receipt of the email and about an hour before the class, but my email was ignored. I followed up a few days later - still nothing. Not cool. On the second occasion, I scheduled my class and as I was leaving for the class, I received a text message saying that there was a system error and there were no spot for me the class. The message said that they were going to credit the class back to my account for the inconvenience (almost sounded like it was a favor). I had a package of 10 classes that was expiring and I scheduled my classes out so that I don't lose them using my availability and instructors I wanted to take classes with so any wrinkle in the schedule would have made me possibly lose classes. The 2nd class was expiring the next day after I was told there were no spots for me and a system made an error. Wouldn't one think that this can be accommodated and extended if the schedule doesn't allow me to use it the next day with the instructor I want to take? Solidcore wouldn't think this way. I checked my account the next day and the class was credited back amd I wanted to schedule the class so I don't lose it and it was the last day I could use it. The ONLY class that had an opening after 5PM was at 7:30pm and the rest of them were all waitlist. And on top of it all, I was not available at 7:30PM that day. I texted the number number back saying that I would like to get a credit back for my 2 classes and still - no response. I even called the studio and the resording said that they do not answer calls and voicemails will not be returned and pretty much said hang up and email us. I emailed the studio manager explaining that I was not credited back the first class and never contacted back about it and that also requesting an extension of my time for my 2nd class because I did not have sufficient time to use it. Still -- NOTHING. I have lost 2 classes because of the terrible customer service and I'm sorry but your classes are not $5. If you are offering classes for $30, please offer decent customer service. Your instructors work too hard to be receiving a one star rating. As for now, I will share my Solidcore experience with everyone I can. Simply terrible experience! Thank you very much. read more

Within a minute of the class starting I was already shaking. The coach I had was great and walked you through the entire workout and during the workout was very attentive at form and would come around and fix my positioning. I am OBSESSED with solidcore. I am a long distance runner/major exercise junkie so I thought that the workout would be a breeze but after my first class I realized that I could not have been more wrong. I literally hobble out of the studio every time that I take a class. This workout taps into muscle groups that I didn't know existed. The first class I took was a bit intimidating because the workout is so unique and unlike anything that I had done before but I am so glad that I stuck with it! I have seen a huge improvement in my running since I started at solidcore, especially on hills. It is a total game changer. The studio itself is super cute and has free water and towels. All of the instructors are fun and knowledgeable, especially when it comes to modifications. While it is a group fitness class, it has a very personal feel. The instructors give great feedback, talk you through the entire workout, and encourage you to push outside of your comfort zone. I highly recommend giving it a try! read more

If you want to find muscles you never even knew existed and rock them hard, [solidcore] is the place to go. The first class is tough, but it's so addicting to want to go back and be better the next time. I started off doing a lot of the modifications on my knees (which the instructors are helpful in showing you) and have been able to work myself up to being on my toes (at least for a portion of the moves haha). The 50 mins goes by in a flash. Every muscle in your body will hurt, but it makes you feel like a rockstar. You will get a full body workout during the 50 minutes that will leave your glutes, thighs, abs and arms sore. But the good kind of sore. Studio is brand new and therefore BEAUTIFUL, it has all the amenities one would expect from a boutique studio in this price range (towels, filtered water fountain, storage, dry shampoo, deodorant, tampons, body spray, etc.). Terrible customer service. Patrice dismissed me like a child. I arrived 5 instead of 7 minutes before class and was told i was not able to take class after getting a babysitter and paying to park. Not to mention driving 25 minutes to get there. All she said was "I understand" and closed the door. The email I received was to please arrive 10 minutes prior to familiarize yourself with the machine. So i guess I was 3 minutes late and she was too lazy to reiterate her instructions. For $32 a class, the staff should be very accommodating. Shameful read more
