When traveling in a country like Italy, it is exciting when you run across great beer because the focus is always on wine. Stumbling across Solo Birre Artigianali just outside of the Piazza Navona was fantastic because there it was, a BEER BAR in Italy. They had a ton of great beers available, both in bottles and on tap. It's super tiny, but they had some tables outside and that's all I needed. They also make pizza, but we were pizza'd out at that point, so passed and cannot comment on the food. But it was nice chatting with the owner, resting our feet and enjoying some yummy beers.
Thats the problem, though, I waited too long to write this and I cannot remember which beer I had! FAIL! I do know that it wasn't Pinky Salt because I was bummed that they were out of that particular Gose I was wanting, so probably an IPA. the nice thing is that they had a good selection of Italian beers and they can be tricky to find outside of your Peroni or Nastro Azzuro. Oh, you know what else is awesome? Beer in Italy is SUPER affordable usually. So there's that.
If you find yourself wandering the streets in or around the Piazza Navona, please look this beer bar up, you will not be sorry! read more
