Never in our wildest dreams have we thought of ever making our outdoor living oasis vision come to life. That's right...OUTDOOR LIVING! It's the perfect gift that keeps on giving. We play host all the time now and the praises from everyone from kids to adults alike just never ends! Our experience with Blade Runners was first rate! Waited 11 years before finally pulling the plug and deciding on a contractor/landscaper and we truly cannot be any happier of our choice. Garrett's design background and top of the line 3D computer program were truly an exceptional asset to the entire experience. He is visionary, professional, flexible and most of all compassionate. He has a creative mind for design, strict standards for work quality, and stands behind his work. He took our ideas and mixed them with his to transform ordinary into extraordinary. He worked with us to find a solution for our back yard that fit within our vision and we couldn't be happier with the results. While he definitely has stylistic leanings that he favors, he listened to what we liked and didn't like and his choices were always spot on. We felt we could trust him completely and he proved us right every step of the way. He helped us conceive the designs, offered many new ideas, helped us select materials and plants, and executed with an eye for detail. He was open to our feedback along the way and made adjustments with ease. He included several benefits beyond our agreed scope - including foot rest on the bar that we would never have thought of ourselves - at no additional charge. His crew was also very attentive to detail, both in terms of making sure the foundation items are sound (drainage, soil condition/preparation) as well as the final aesthetic look (border design, plant/trees placement). Always early to arrive on site, professional and respectful of our family and property which is very important to us. They always cleaned up after themselves at the end of the day. Our empty oddly sloped backyard lot became an amazing outdoor entertaining area. Everyone who has seen it absolutely adores and loves it! We are very happy with the workmanship and end product. Garrett and team Blade Runners cared about their work and made sure the work as well as the maintenance was in tip-top shape. The end result was exceptional just as promised...even after the job was complete, Garrett still kept coming by to check up on how things are holding up making sure our satisfaction has been met and then some. Evident from his Instagram posts from past clients, he was not only after our business but a life-long friendship that you will hardly ever find in a hired professional. He even made us a very nice video of the entire process, the before and after, beginning to end using his awesome drone so that we would have an aerial view of the entire project. I cannot recommend Blade Runners highly enough. Thanks, Blade Runners and your fantastic team. We absolutely adore (and everyone else whom has stepped foot on) our backyard! I will continue to use them on future projects and as long as I own my home!

He was accommodating with my schedule and showed up on time- actually early! We talked, he shared the history of the company (30 yrs in business, I remember correctly) and reviewed what we were hoping to replace- he showed me what Shading Solutions could do- measured, twice, and we were on our way. The date he told me to anticipate our awnings should be delivered and one week before, contacted me to say we are on schedule! The awnings were delivered and we set a date for installation. The day before, Kurt Lamothe, the installer, came to look at the awnings and to check out the job site, impressive! Not waiting for 'day of ' - being proactive shows professionalism ~ so appreciated in this day! The installers show up, again, professional and friendly and EARLY! Again, I was impressed because as they're installing, Joe, my sales guy, shows up just to make sure all is going well and that I was satisfied. He even texted me after to say there is a windy storm rolling in so make sure to roll up the awnings as they were just installed. The guys picked up all the wrappings and left not one piece behind. Oh- and the price was fair, no hard sell or upsell. Will post pics later ~ but we are VERY satisfied to find a company and people who are professional and are great at their jobs! Thanks Joe, Kurt, Kurt Jr and Cliff (?) I apologize if I got the name wrong!

I'm extremely disappointed with how OnDeck handled an issue with our ScreenEZE installation. The…read moreinstallation crew themselves were very nice and professional, which makes the way the situation was handled afterward even more frustrating. We have a mid-century modern home with a very specific exterior aesthetic. One of the defining characteristics of the house is the clean, minimal exterior detailing, and we have been very intentional about keeping window and trim elements flush and visually unobtrusive. OnDeck installed the ScreenEZE system using an exterior corner-mount method that left a substantial amount of dark metal visible around our white openings. At no point during the sales process was I told that OnDeck only installs the system this way, nor was I told that there were different manufacturer-approved mounting options that would create very different finished appearances. During the installation, I was surprised by how much visible metal there was, but I assumed that once everything was complete it would look more like the clean installations shown in ScreenEZE's own marketing materials. I did not realize there was another mounting method that could have substantially reduced the exterior metal because that option had never been discussed with me. I only became aware of the inside/flush-mount option after the project was essentially complete, when I received the installation instructions from OnDeck. Those instructions clearly showed more than one installation approach. When I raised the issue, the initial response was not simply, "We prefer another method." I was first told that I was confusing my installation with a different product/system used for other applications, including arched openings, and that I had not purchased the product I was referring to. I was the one who had to point out that the inside-mount option I was asking about was shown in the installation instructions OnDeck itself had given me at the end of the project. I then contacted ScreenEZE directly to understand what was actually possible. ScreenEZE told me that, when installed correctly and in the appropriate application, flush mounting is a manufacturer-approved method, is covered under their 10-year warranty, and is considered just as reliable and durable as a corner mount. After I brought that information back to OnDeck, their position became that flush mounting is simply not a method they choose to perform because they believe their corner-mount method is superior. That is a perfectly reasonable company preference -- but it should have been disclosed before I hired them. Had I been told, "We only install ScreenEZE using an exterior corner mount, and we do not offer the inside/flush-mounted option," I would have immediately discussed whether that approach aligned with the architecture of my home. If it didn't, I would have hired a different installer. I was never given that opportunity. My first conversation with Phil after raising the concern was extremely defensive. At one point I had to tell him that I did not appreciate being spoken to as though I were a "dumb housewife." The conversation felt dismissive rather than solution-oriented, which was especially disappointing because I was genuinely trying to understand what had happened and how we might fix it. OnDeck also told my contractor that correcting the installation would essentially require replacing everything. Since they were unwilling to offer a workable solution, I contacted another local screen contractor. That contractor was able to reuse the existing metal, replace only the screen material, and move the entire installation inside the openings with two installers in one day. The cost to me was an additional $2,800. I asked that $2,000 be held back from OnDeck's final payment to account for part of the additional cost I had to incur to achieve the installation I originally expected. Rather than having a meaningful discussion about a compromise, I received a notice of lien for the $2,000. What makes this especially disappointing is that I understand what it means to run a small, family-owned business. I run businesses myself, and I know how important trust, communication, customer service, and your word are to building a reputation. Mistakes and communication breakdowns happen. What matters is how a company responds when a customer raises a legitimate concern. I was completely willing to work toward a fair middle ground. Instead, I felt dismissed, given conflicting information, and ultimately forced to find and pay another contractor to solve a problem that could have been avoided entirely with one conversation before installation. My issue is not that OnDeck prefers the corner-mount method. My issue is that this preference materially affected the appearance of my home and was never disclosed before the work was done. Unfortunately, based on how this was handled after the installation, I would not recommend OnDeck.
