I had great experience in prior years but this year is different. I dropped off our tax documents…read moreon Thursday March 5th and usually about 2 weeks to be completed as we were told in prior years. We received a call on Friday March 20th by one of their office staff that our return was ready to be picked up. My husband, son and I went to sign and pick up our tax forms and thought we would be receiving our IRS return roughly 2 weeks from picking up our forms. It is now Monday March 30 almost April and our return was never sent to the IRS by their office and this I only found out because I had logged on to the IRS website to check on our refund but they did not have our information so I called Covati and Janhsen and that's when they said it was never sent to the IRS. So if I didn't check the IRS website for our refund, I would have never known my return wasn't filed. I trusted their office with our documents and return yet our forms just sat somewhere in their office without being filed and without even a call. If I didn't call them who knows how long before our return would have been sent to the IRS if even at all. So disappointed unfortunately we will not be returning.

I was a client of Castaldo CPA for several years. If the firm's response is that I am no longer a…read moreclient, that is true, but only because my account was transferred away from their firm. In March, shortly before tax deadlines, I was informed that my account would be handled by another CPA firm as part of what was described as a merger. I was told: "We've spent the better of last year vetting him/going over our clients with him, so he's well equipped to handle it. We'll still be involved but ultimately, he will be preparing the returns/signing them as the preparer." As a client, I relied on those representations when deciding to remain with the successor firm. Unfortunately, my experience after the transfer was disastrous. Tax matters that should have been handled professionally were not. Communication became increasingly difficult, payments continued to be collected, and eventually my calls, emails, texts, and portal messages went unanswered altogether. I later learned that similar complaints about communication and client service had already been publicly posted about the successor firm before my account was transferred. The consequences have been significant. I have spent substantial time, money, and effort trying to untangle issues that arose after the transfer and am now working with new professionals to address problems that should never have occurred in the first place. My concern is not simply that my account was transferred. My concern is that clients were asked to place trust in a successor firm that Castaldo CPA stated had been thoroughly vetted. My experience did not reflect that assurance. Choosing a CPA is one of the most important financial decisions a person or business can make. Mistakes, missed filings, and lack of communication can have serious tax and financial consequences. Based on my experience, I would strongly encourage prospective clients to carefully consider how client transitions are handled before placing their trust in this firm.
