Let me start out by…read moresaying that I take phenomenal care of my teeth & oral hygiene. 2-3 years ago I had a dental implant done by Dr. Sindoni. The entire experience was a nightmare!! The first one was "a failure". Ok fine, it had to come out & a new one put in. It literally took months for everything to heal in between visits & what not. I was due for a follow-up in October of 2020, in the heat of Covid. Allegedly I missed this appointment. In December of 2020 I, along with my family, contracted Covid. I was hospitalized & on oxygen. Christmas Eve, 2020, my mother passed from Covid. My father was hospitalized for 3 months, then released in my care due to dementia. Allegedly I missed another appointment in January of 2021 while I was healing & grieving the death of my mother. Fast forward to today, the implant is giving me issues. It's tender, sore & I was told by my dentist that there's some bone loss. I call Dr. Sindoni's office to get back in there to see what's going on & I'm informed by STEPHANIE, that I'm a "non-compliant" patient for allegedly no-showing at my previous appointments. I explained to her what happened & where my life, head & heart were at the time & she didn't care! All she kept saying was that I was non-compliant. She's rude, bitchy & knows there will be zero repercussion as the doctor is her husband. There is no more $$$ to be made on me. They already robbed me and now won't follow through on THEIR workmanship. STEPHANIE informed me that this was an "investment" and it was up to me to "protect my investment"=we're not taking responsibility for any issues in the future. Tread carefully! I was referred to Dr Fantuzzo, and after my consult appointment, I felt more at ease than I expected. I wasn't able to afford IV anesthesia (blame my insurance not the doctor) so I had to opt for Nitrous. The pain had gotten so bad that I unfortunately needed to get the surgery done the day before my birthday. BUT, oh my gosh. The surgery experience was fantastic. I remember hearing him say "first ones out," but I didn't feel a thing! My recovery was so smooth the next two days, no swelling, no pain, no blood. He's not a magician, he's an expert. He knows what he's doing. My surgery only took 30 minutes, and that's not because he rushed, it's because he is literally THAT good. I thought a filling would do however that was not to be the case. I have an EXTREMELY high tolerance to novocaine. After four attempts at numbing my lower gums my normal dentist conceded defeat. She suggested that I try Buffalo Oral Surgery and hopefully get sedated for an extraction. It was with heavy heart that I made my appointment. Today was the day. I had a female surgeon/dentist. In my angst over this procedure I didn't get her name. She sat and spoke to me about the anesthetic issue and then started shooting me up. It took her about four tries as well. She had me open my mouth and I assumed she was just checking to see if the local was working. She spoke to me about a number of things and then sat back and said the words I so longed to hear - "You are finished. The tooth is gone". YES! Other than my anxiety there was nothing to bother me. The actual extraction was perhaps a minute or two? It took longer for the local to kick in. Am I over my fear of sharp objects in my mouth? Not in this lifetime however I know now that procedures don't need to be painful to be effective.
