My experience was very similar to Clayton R's. This posting is fresh off of having our couple's massage canceled. We booked our massage today a month in advance and had to re-arrange work and other obligations just to have this service for it to be canceled via text 7:25am this morning the day of the service which was scheduled at noon. Her (Karen was the name she told me) statement was that one of her therapists was sick, then when I asked her what was her plan of action to make it right, she had the nerve to get defensive when I asked for a manager because she refused to answer a basic question. "I am the manager! What would like me to do? You want me to 'make up' for someone who is sick? Really?" I could practically hear her snarl over the text. This unprofessionlism was galling. When I asked if they would get us in, she said there were people slotted already. I questioned "So we get canceled but others get the luxury of keeping their appointment?" She disregarded the question and said she could set something up ANOTHER month from now. Mind you, when she said this, she couldn't even give me a firm date to when that could be done. Sherrie was the best. I had gone to my chiropractor twice and was still suffering with upper back pain. All I needed with her was one session. Sherrie has 10 plus years experience and has worked for a chiropractor in the past. And it truly shows! She did deep tissue massage along with aroma therapy with relaxing music. My husband and I booked a couples massage for Valentine's day and both of us left extremely disappointed. We agreed it was probably the worst massage we've ever had. I listed 3 trouble issues and during a 90 min massage, only one of them was hit. My husband only listed one trouble issue, and it was not hit. The two women helping us did not seem to like each other and it was an awkward experience entering and leaving, the woman helping my husband at least addressed what he had written on his sheet but mine did not, and we left Soluna feeling no different than when we walked in other than sad at the amount of money we spent to get something so bad. I got the 60 min deep tissue massage and it seemed like she missed all my muscles. I know there is a art to massage and my therapist just didn't do it. Excellent service! My body has undergone some stress and beating from my workouts, lifts, and fitness classes, so it was due time for a deep tissue. I searched around for a decent price and Soluna's was the best. I have been here before for a basic massage, but it had been many years. When I showed up, I was warmly greeted and already felt at ease. My massage therapist was incredibly intelligent too. After filling out my description form, Megan could give me insight right away on areas to focus on. She had experience working with individuals who lift and perform boxing and BJJ, so she was able to pinpoint areas for best tension and muscle release. She even gave me best practices and tips on stretches and actions to ensure my massage lasts longer and help me long term. I walked out feeling like a new person! My husband and I have been to Soluna MANY times for massages. Normally, we get couples massages, which we prefer, but on occasion availability does not allow for that since the only time we can go is on Saturday. We have NEVER had a bad experience at Soluna, and always leave feeling happy and relaxed. We both prefer deep tissue massage since we suffer from various types of pain - neck, shoulder, etc., and every massage therapist we have had has done an excellent job of relieving the pain and tension in those areas. This is my first time at Soluna massage. Lindsay at the front desk was fabulous. There was a glitch on my Spa Finder card which she diligently worked out until the problem was resolved (with a smile and positive attitude!) I had Donna as a masseuse, and she was wonderful. My body feels 10 years younger! She was great at communicating with me so that my experience was comfortable and suited my needs. She also explained why some of my tension areas were that way, and made suggestions. She addressed all my problem areas, and I feel great! I loved the heating pads she used! Posted an initial review that was lackluster given I was miffed about a previous experience with a LMT that did a horrible massage. Well, the owner reached out to me and persuaded me to try it again. It was a very good massage and definitely changed my mind about the place.... until now. Since this initial posting, I have continued to use Soluna Massage a good bit in the past 2 years. I have had my appointment canceled 2 times now--the day of the appointment. The first time I was miffed but got over it. Now it has happened again and only 2 hours before my scheduled time. The appointment was made nearly a month in advance. I was not given another massage therapist. In fact I asked if they could cancel someone else and put me in their slot. The response to me was that other customers had been patrons for years. So much for my customer loyalty. For the record, I have never been cancelled on by a massage therapist in all my years of going to various establishments-let alone 2 times. Per Soluna Massage policy, patrons must cancel a full 24 hours in advance or be charged the full amount of the massage if canceled. Apparently it is a double standard when it happens the other way around. I was told the owner is going to reach out to me and I have not heard a response. In fact, they have a credit on my account that I have yet to be refunded. At this point, I am done with this place. Never going back. If they can treat me like this, they will surely treat others in the same manner! read more

I got a massage here (deep tissue) and it was wonderful! Sherrie was very nice and worked through a lot of knots in my shoulder and lower back. The lighting and music were perfectly soothing. I've been going to Soluna Massage for about 2 years now and man has it been a life saver! I'm a guy in my 20s, pretty healthy, and go to the gym 3-5 days/ week but I started having lower back and upper shoulder pain that progressed after working in an office and sitting at a desk for long periods of time. It was to the point I could barely get out of bed in the morning and I have a pretty high pain tolerance. I tried everything I could find but wanted to take an alternative route instead of taking medication for the pain. This is when I remembered Soluna massage. I had gone there once in the past but alway considered getting a massage a "luxury". After a couple sessions with the therapists I knew I had to make this a regimen. I started going two times per month and have continued ever since. Throughout our sessions we worked on targeting tense muscles, stretching exercises, and loosing up muscles I never even knew were tight. It seems I was experiencing Piriformis Syndrome. All the staff are very friendly and each therapist has their own special technique when treating their client. I bought a Groupon for a one hour massage at Soluna. I redeemed the Groupon on May 5th. And it was worth every penny I spent, and then some! The receptionist was friendly and greeted me immediately upon my arrival. He gave me a form to fill out with medical history questions- it was very thorough. When I was introduced to my massage therapist, Keturah Hurley, she was polite and informative. She asked what pressure I preferred and if I was having any pain that day. I told her I was not having any pain, but that I am a runner and like to have my legs deep-pressure massaged. She assured me that was no problem. The room was not as small as other places I've been to and the temperature was comfortable. When Keturah began the massage she did everything I asked. I felt very relaxed the whole time, at the same time my legs felt wonder from the perfect amount of pressure. She asked if it was too much, but I told her that's what I prefer after a long run. I love that Keturah was so professional and was overly chatty. After the massage, I was given some alkaline water and some brochures about the other services offered at Soluna. They sound wonderful! And they have great specials on a weekly basis which I will be taking advantage of in the future! I NEEDED a relaxing massage as I have been studying for a big test. My fiance needed one as well because he has had to deal with my stress! I've had many massages but am skeptical of places that offer Reiki and cupping as well since I see those at snake oil. I'm glad I got over that! This place is amazing. They were professional from the start of making the appointment. When we were running late they still accommodated us and didn't cut into our time. The staff was great about medical conditions, which is important because my fiance has a few areas that should not be worked on at all. That was no problem, they reviewed the paperwork and asked us both questions on what we needed and expected. My fiance was staggering out the door because his muscle were so relaxed. By the time we got home he was asleep in the car and tried to convince my to let him just stay there and nap. No such luck with it being over 90! The prices there are FANTASTIC and well worth the price. Cheaper than a lot of other locations (trust me I looked at practically every massage location in the greater Louisville area to make sure!). The facilities were clean and the atmosphere was calming and relaxing. I could even see that cupping equipment and hot stones were kept clean and everything was well organized. If you get a chance take advantage of their Thursday/Friday special to try it out. I'm going back Thursday after my exam for a deep tissue massage. Soluna is a very relaxed, calm space and has some of the nicest and most educated staff I have had the pleasure to meet. Emily was able to work through so many kinks in such a small span of time and incorporated stretches, stones, and several massage techniques that helped me bounce back to feeling really great again! I have been here probably a half dozen times over the past few years and I would say that the quality overall has been good, but it can be somewhat inconsistent because of high turnover (every year I come back, I pretty much have to find a new massage therapist). That said, almost everyone I've worked with has been very knowledgeable about the musculoskeletal system, some even being helpful about noticing issues I'm having and making good recommendations. I have joint hypermobility, so I'm very prone to injury, aches and pains. It also means that I have to be in good hands or else my symptoms could be aggravated and they've never steered me wrong here. I'm posting today despite having gone for years because I had my first massage with Kountiss Johnson and she's the best person I've seen there. I've been having some issues with my knee and she not only helped me with some stretches (while massaging to relieve the pain I usually have), but she also taught me some stuff about the musculoskeletal system and showed me how to do some cross-fiber friction (which I had read would be helpful for my condition and was excited about learning). She also puts on like a Biofreeze-style gel to help with any pain after. If you're dealing with any muscular aches or pains, I would totally recommend her. Also they give a discount for teachers and they do cheap days on Thursdays and Fridays! read more

When I moved to Louisville a few years ago, it was difficult to find a good massage place that was affordable and could fit me in their schedule easily. My mom actually discovered Soluna and got me a gift certificate, and I've been going once every few months since. Soluna is in a big house/office space in Fern Creek and it's pretty unassuming, but it's quaint and nice inside. They offer online booking which is super easy to use and I've never had a problem getting an appointment. They also offer discount days, so I always try to schedule on a Thursday or Friday to get an even better deal. I had been going to Marissa for about two years, and I was super sad when she left, but I've booked my last two massages with Kountiss and she is wonderful. I don't live near Fern Creek, but the drive is worth it for the price and the people. read more

A hidden gem! My boyfriend bought a couple's massage for my Christmas Gift and we were finally able to use it this past Saturday. All I can say is that I hope to get this gift from him every Christmas! We had to reschedule twice as the first time there was a family emergency and the second time the snow storm of Louisville decided it wanted to barricade my car in. Soluna Massage had no problem with our reschedules and worked with us accordingly and professionally. The location is in an office complex type of building and Soluna is located on the first floor. When we walked in we were greeted by a gentleman that gave us forms to complete. They were very thorough and asked about past and current medical issues. We completed the forms in a timely manner and exactly at our appointment time our massage therapists showed up to direct us to our room. My boyfriend's massage therapist was Emily Shown and mine was Keturah Hurley. Ms. Hurley discussed the process and asked me about problem areas along with the firmness I would prefer. As an avid runner I needed the legs worked out and as an individual who can be high strung the back and neck needed some work too. In those glorious 60 minutes Ms. Hurley made me feel relaxed and really made progress in my "problem" areas. It was obvious she had the experience and wanted to ensure that I left with fewer kinks than upon arrival. Ms. Shown obviously made an impression on my boyfriend as this was his first massage and he was quite pleased with the results as well. Ms. Shown was also very friendly and professional and reminded us to drink plenty of liquids for the remainder of the day. I left feeling exhausted and relaxed which is how one should feel post massage. My muscles felt even better the next day! Maybe they don't get black customers often but I felt uncomfortable. I actually came on the wrong day and they worked to get a massage in just had to wait. Eric did the massage and I explained lower back and shoulder massage needs. He touched my lower back for 3 seconds and I'm not exaggerating. The bed and room were cold and it was uncomfortable, after I was half way through I had to ask if the ac was on and that's when he decided to turn on the bed warmer. I went here using a Groupon and the prices are good but it is not a very clean place and the blanket that was used on me was ripped and kind of matted. The cupping cups I guess they are called did not appear to have any sanitization area and appeared not very clean. The foot detox was interesting. They used a generic tub barely big enough for my feet to fit and was right out in the middle of the room. The women are friendly just not very 'professional'. Just my opinion. read more

I have been going here for a while now. Today I went in and was on a walker last night and a cane today. I had face cupping and a 90 minute massage. When I left, I was very concerned as my back was still hurting although much better. HOWEVER, about 2 hours later, I was walking on my own. I have to admit that this is not a foo foo place with all the water and scents, but it has always worked for me. The people there (and have had many different ones) are all very kind and seem to care. It also allows me to have services more often because they have Thursday and Friday night specials.
