Wonderful experience with Mo! My lower back feels fossilized sometimes because it's soooo tight, but Mo was so thorough and put in a lot of work to help alleviate the pain and stiffness, which has plagued me for about 20 years. I am fit and I am a longtime yoga practitioner. I understand my role in managing these issues, but no amount of exercise can offset 8 hours sitting at a computer a day. A good massage is sometimes the only thing that can help when my body really starts locking up. Ive tried a number of massage therapists who are trained through westernized programs, and I even had a standing appointment with a wonderful reiki master who was a massage instructor for many years. Unfortunately, none of these therapists (who were legitimately excellent) were able to provide much relief for issues like persistent psoas tightness and snapping hip syndrome, etc. Mo is the first massage therapist who really made a difference in my pain and my low back and hip function, after just one session. I don't know if I truly do need deep tissue work or if it just *feels* as if I need deep tissue massage to me because of my usual experiences, but I always ask for deep work and rarely feel as though it's even close to being deep enough. A lot of massage therapists just don't seem to have more than textbook classroom-based understandings of the body, and they tend to try to use sessions to lecture me about the most basic things or assert their expertise, even while they're failing to recognize where my muscles are tight and how to actually address the tightness. That's why I decided to try an eastern-based practitioner this time. This was a fairly vigorous and intense session and I got the exact pressure I wanted/needed, without having to even say anything. It felt as though I finally got some release along my spine. She also did exceptional work on my shoulders and mid-back as well and gave a brief scalp massage. It made my whole week! Been here several times, all have left me feeling relaxed and rejuvenated. First time to st Matthews location this week, and prefer Middletown only due to outside sound from the business next door. I've now experienced the head spa treatment. My appointment was on a Friday afternoon and "Mo" was watching for me. She was incredibly kind and helpful, especially knowing it was my first time. I was the only person at the spa so I didn't experience anything more than the sound of music and running water. I wasn't sure what to expect. Here's what I learned that may be helpful to you for the head spa experience: - The Thai bed offered the comfortable, wider bed. It was heated and I was covered with blankets. - You will wear a towel on your top. Straps would be in the way. Come wearing a tube top, something that can be pulled down, or slip off your bra. - If you don't have warm socks, they offer fuzzy socks. - Lockers are provided for security. The key is attached to a bracelet and you can slip it on your wrist. - A scalp analysis is completed before and after. - The treatment started with a massage and it continues on and off throughout. - The pressure isn't painful but it can be intense, including on your scalp. My arm muscles were very tight so I was mindful to breathe through the soreness. - The head massagers are amazing. I've already looked up where to buy my own! -Your hair will be washed multiple times. Aveda products are used. Overall, a wonderful experience. It is definitely a splurge for me; however, this will be a treatment I'll come back for to keep my scalp and hair healthier, plus have an opportunity to relax. read more

Wowww, such an amazing experience. Before I set an appointment I went there to get help and ask what kind of massage is good for my body and concerned area. I have had headaches for a quiet bit of time and wanted to get some massage helping it. I met Bui (the owner) and I talked about what I need, she was very very helpful and told me since it is my first time getting massage (I never had massage in my life), I can try customized massage Therapy and see how it works for me. She spent almost 20-30 minutes to just talk to me and show me the area. She is such a sweet, compassionate person. I went for massage yesterday and Nid was my massage Therapist. She was extremely good! She listened to me and made sure the whole time she works on all my concerned areas. She was very very very good! My headache is much better now as my neck and shoulder are less stiff now. I am so much more relax and it really made a difference in my mental and physical health. Relaxing environment from the moment I walk in the door! YOU SHOULD KNOW*They usually keep the door locked, since it's appointment only. But someone is usually at the desk waiting to let you in. So don't fret if the entrance is locked* They keep the lighting down low & have essential oils in diffusers for little aromatherapy. They also offer either room temperature or cold water as well & have comfortable seats in the waiting area. This is my second time here & usually when I arrive, they are ready to take me back & get started. I showed up earlier this time but didn't mind the ever short wait time & we did start on my scheduled appointment time. Nid is a massage wizard! I told her my exact problem areas & how much pressure I would like this time & got to choose my aroma oil before I even got undressed. After I was ready on the table she got to work, I had never had a massage before my first one here, so doing an 60 mins this time was like being transformed into a different person. My shoulders & back at the tightest & when I left I felt like a weight was lifted. The room was very clean & comfortable temperature. They play instruments music to help transport you to a state of relaxation. I am hooked now & the staff makes me feel so comfortable & welcomed each time I visited, that for me it's worth the hour drive from my home. I had two spa experiences at Lalai Day Spa! I am new to the area and newly pregnant with my first child. So just as I hit 20 weeks I scheduled my first prenatal massage! It was incredible and I'm already looking forward to going back! Very professional care and nice facility! I also had the head massage on the Thai bed. It was enjoyable and actually the 2nd one I've ever had. It varied a lot from the previous one I had elsewhere but was still great. The only thing was I felt the massage part was only super great when they used the electric head massager. When the workers fingers were used in the washing and most of the rounds of treatments it wasn't as hard of pressure and didn't feel as relaxing. It felt more like going through the motions of washing your hair, which I get they have to follow their system but I just couldn't get to ultimate relaxation. I also made the mistake of doing the full flat bed and I think I was uncomfortable due to my pregnancy which is totally on me. So if I go back for another of those I will do it in the recliner type of chair instead. Every employee I encountered was super welcoming and nice! Definitely recommend this spa! The LaLai Day Spa website is a well oiled machine! It's user friendly and super easy to use. I booked my appointment online with ease and to my surprise; LaLai Day Spa has Saturday hours too! Lots of flexibility. The Lalai Day Spa provides a range of massage related services in a very relaxing environment. My massage therapist, Nid, was wonderful. She showed me my private massage room. The room had soft lighting, quiet Thai music, and put my stress at ease. Nid asked me to choose an essential oil, asked what areas I would like massaged and provided time for me to prepare/undress and drape the blanket over my body. Nid worked all the areas we spoke about. I am typically not a big fan of massages but my experience with Nid was perfect! Her techniques were not painful for me and she respected my limitations and requests for a light massage. I came here once for a Yelp event! And I had a 30 minute massage with Nid. I decided to come back but this time I felt very SORE and ROUGH leaving the massage. Now I texted the owner to book a massage because I had another friend who wanted to go and we had back to back appointments. They were very accommodating since I had to meet at a later time. So my friend and I both felt our massages were too rough and hard. We didn't fill the client form but our level of firmness would be for me medium/ light and this was WAY TOO FIRM! I mentioned to Nid twice that I didn't like how hard she was with my legs. I mentioned I had a new tattoo on my shoulder and my neck and shoulders still feel very rough and sore a day later. I winced a few times when it hurt and would say I didn't like it. I felt every muscle and bone crack and did not know we were going to do that, too. I mentioned to Nid that I do yoga and I thought I'd be more resilient to the firmness but it felt uncomfortable. I would say, if you book here just speak up and let Nid know your comfort level ahead of time! She knows what she's doing but had a hard time understanding me. I felt like I shouldn't have to keep reminding her that it hurt me or felt uncomfortable. I might come back down the road but for now might look elsewhere. They did honor a discount however but Nid was confused by the discount and kinda felt frustrated and didn't want to argue about it. read more

I visited Lalai Day Spa last week for a lymphatic drainage massage. The spa is located in the far corner of a shopping center thru a courtyard. Follow the signs & look for the purple signage on their door. I was warmly welcomed by my massage therapist, Bui. I've had multiple massages in the past but this was my first ever lymphatic drainage massage. Bui gave me a full rundown of what to expect during the massage. She was very thorough & professional. At the end of my service I felt amazing. Bui had bottled water & hot tea waiting for me after my service. The spa was very clean & well kept. One hundred percent 5 star. My husband and I had a couples massage with Barinda and Whitney and they were beyond wonderful! We both have health issues that cause a lot of ache and pains and both ladies took the time to learn about us to focus on our problem issues. And both of us felt so much better after our session! I was greeted at the door and invited in. The place smelled nice, very clean and well decorated with a relaxing feel. There were 4 oils for me to choose from, which I loved having the option. The massage table was very comfortable, sheets were so soft and the bed was heated. It was a very comfortable atmosphere. The massage was incredible, my masseuse was definitely well educated in the art of massage because she knew exactly where my pain was, but never hurt me. She did the perfect amount of pressure and checked in with me during, but not too often that she was disruptive. I felt safe and comfortable the entire experience. The hot towel was the perfect temp, I wasn't too oily when it was over. I have more mobility in my neck now than I have in years because of the incredible work she did. I cannot wait to return!
