The clothing was affordable because of a sale, but I personally would not pay full price for most of the items (e.g., $125 for casual pants). I arrived at the store about 10-15 minutes after opening time on a Monday morning, and there were 8-10 other shoppers present, likely due to the sale. No one greeted me initially, but eventually a salesperson asked if she could start a dressing room for me. I tried on quite a few items, and maybe 15 minutes later a salesperson asked if anyone in the dressing area needed help. Because there were other women trying on clothing while I was there, I asked another customer for feedback about how an item looked. I didn't mind doing this. However, if the store were less busy, perhaps a salesperson might have returned to the dressing room earlier and been able to offer the feedback herself.

Today I had the privilege of dropping by to see Carol, the volunteer coordinator for The Perfect Fit in Allentown. Talbots was extremely generous in donating 10% off all transactions today to The Perfect Fit for Working Women (a program of the YWCA). The manager, Donna Barry, was so helpful and she is so incredibly "pro-community." Every single employee could not have been genuinely more kind. This says a lot, especially since the store is having a "30 percent off everything" sale.

I nicely asked the 2 salespeople at the desk if I could make an even exchange on an item (with ALL tags in tact) that I needed in a smaller size. One woman said "I'm not the manager, and you have to ask the manager", who was standing directly beside her! The manager was eating a sandwich as she looked at me in a very condescending manner. She asked me to repeat my request. I nicely repeated my request (even though I knew she heard me, but I also work in retail, so I wanted to be gracious). As she continued eating her sandwich behind the service desk, right out in the open, the manager tells me she cannot accommodate me. All while holding her hand up in front of her mouth as she spoke and did not even use a napkin. The manager said she will only accept a return within 2-3 days. (Like what??) I thanked them and then immediately left because I just could not stand to give my money to that store after this interaction. The manager took another bite of her lunch (like use your employee room to eat your food!) and didn't even look up at me again. These women were beyond uninviting and rude! No wonder the store was empty with zero customers.

We walked up to the entrance and immediately noticed 2 ROSS security staff standing near the center desk area. Great to see because loss prevention should be at top of every retailers priority. We showed them our cash register receipts as we left the store. Inside, the assortment of clothing and home goods was mediocre. Many rack were organized into categories and easy to find different sizes within the departments. The staff, especially the head cashier, was pleasant and knowledgeable.
