I spent nearly $1000 on co-pays and imaging, but never had the surgery due to unnecessary runaround. I wouldn't recommend this place.

I can't even list all the different health and fitness challenges that Mike and Gio have helped me get through. They've not only helped with overcoming challenges, but in achieving new goals. Some gym classes and personal training feel stressful, this was not that. I was able to put my energy into the exercises and let Mike and Gio safely handle planning and monitoring the routine. It's a welcome break during the workday or to start / end the day. The mental reset of the environment is as beneficial as the physical reset. On session cancellation policies: Some of them may seem a bit strict at the start, but they actually benefit you in the long run. The sessions are very customizable and taking a stretching or easy session is better than skipping, 100%. I don't think I'll be able to find anything this good, and the only reason I'm leaving after two years is because I have to move for work. I would've never thought I'd visit an old gym on work trips or vacations, but this one I definitely will.

Joe has been incredible from day one, and I recommend him without hesitation. Coming from an athletic background (college sports), I had specific goals for my recovery. Joe took the time to build a thoughtful, structured plan focused not just on healing, but on getting me confidently back athletic ability the right way. Every session was purposeful, challenging, and clearly tailored to where I was in the rehab process. Also, it goes without saying, the convenience of at home physical therapy when injured is incredible. He brings everything you could possibly need for recovery. I am about halfway to full recovery, but wanted to share my experience thus far. 5+ stars....

Happy to write this review of Joe Mateo Physical Therapy and Performance Medicine. Joe's in-home PT care was a great approach for the recovery. I was very impressed with Joe's treatment and pleasantly surprised with the results. He had me up and walking and recovering most function within the first few days. Swelling and pain were markedly reduced. I avoided all opioids and did great with just Tylenol alone. I will certainly use Joe again for the next knee surgery.

    1. Receptionist will lie and tell you they don't accept your insurance even if they actually do…read more She will continue doing this even if the insurance company contacts them and tells them she is incorrect. 2. The care here is beyond sub par. They do not have you do enough exercises to work on all the necessary muscle groups, and you will pay for this with your health. 1 (details). The receptionist acts as an unethical gatekeeper. My insurance told me this is one of 2 places that are in my network in SF; she proceeded to repeatedly tell me otherwise to persuade me not to even try to get the approval and just go somewhere else. After speaking to my insurance, they assured me that this location is covered and to go ahead and get the approval. Ever with approval already completed, the same lady refused to book me an appointment. My doctor stressed the importance of starting pt quickly after surgery, so I actually printed my approval out, drove to the location in person the day after having surgery (while barely being able to walk and on crutches). FINALLY, when I was there in person and I explain to her that the therapy has already been approved and show her the paperwork, she books me an appointment (reluctantly). After this horrid experience, I called my insurance and advised them to get in contact with this clinic and tell them to stop incorrectly turning people away. A few months later, my partner (who has the same insurance as me), needs to book an appointment for pt. The same lady continues to refuse service and lie and tell her that our insurance is not accepted. She ends up going through the same horrid experience as me just to get the appointment booked. 2 (details). This post op pt was the first time I have ever done physical therapy. I assumed their care here was good as I went through it, as I had nothing to compare to. The therapists seemed nice, and I had no way of knowing if what they were advising was correct, but I assumed they were professionals. Only after going to another physical therapist 2 years later, after having continuous pain, did I realize how bad the care here is. The versatility in exercise at the new pt location really put things into perspective. I could feel each of the important muscle groups being worked, unlike anything I ever experienced at FYZICAL. At FYZICAL, they will do the bare minimum and skip tons of muscle groups that need to be built up to avoid future pain. The receptionist (or whoever is forcing her hand to lie) should be fired. The therapists should take more courses or just stop being lazy and actually help people.

The landing broke 32 bones - including shattered elbows, back, neck, ankle and pelvis. The docs at OTI worked miracles to reconstruct my arms, realign my pelvis, and ensure that the neck/back injuries were stabilized. It is due to their remarkable work (might I say craftsmanship?) that I suffered no long term disability from the fall - in fact, my tennis game has improved and I'm even running faster than before (probably more due to motivation than the titanium that reinforces a few body parts). These docs are at the top of their game - empathetic, expert, and enthusiastic about the practice of medicine. I'm forever indebted to their team.

He is the finest doctor I have come across and Colleen and the rest of the staff were amazing helping me, and giving me the finest care pre post and surgery. They are what medicine should be all about. And to top it off, he's a cowboy who knows a good horse! Serious cool points there. I completely shattered my femur in a horse training accident the year before, and had a titanium rod put in, by another doctor in my area, then began the long slow pt process. I realized that something was not right. I was in pain all the time, had a severe limp despite all the efforts of my physical therapy group in Monterey, and was getting worse rather than better despite my bone growing back in. I am 28 now, if I had not fallen in their hands, I would be in serious chronic pain and walk with a shuffle/limp for the rest of my life. First off, Dr. McClellan believed that something was up and got me in for a CT scan that showed that my leg and hardware had "healed" 36 degrees off. To say this made sitting, standing, walking, and doing anything a struggle was an understatement of the century. I couldn't work and was really struggling for a long time in every way. Before Dr. McClellan, many doctors turned down my case and I was losing hope at ever becoming better. Fortunately, he said I'll fix this and man did he! He set that sucker at the perfect angle and made it as straight as its mate on the left and put in a much better rod and hardware. He had tons of people in that room helping him work on me. I want to thank all of them as well! I was scared but everyone was very kind and got me in the right mindset before I went under and they worked their magic. The minute I woke up from surgery, I felt giant relief and the pain in my hip was gone. I knew immediately that his plan had worked. 8 months later, my limp is almost totally gone. My pain is at a level that doesn't affect me unless I push the envelope. Thanks to Dr. McClellan and his amazing staff, I'm making a huge comeback and am now taking back control of the chronic pain and my life. If you are unlikely enough to need orthopaedic surgery, get your broken butt to these guys, your luck will change for the better!

The few times I went, it was all cracking, too much equipment, and nothing explained--I left more uneasy than helped. Because of that, I avoided chiropractors for years even though I've had lower back problems for over a decade. When I finally called Cameron, I was in a lot of pain and honestly a little apprehensive. From the start, he was different. He took time to really listen, was extremely understanding, and made me feel at ease. Before doing any major adjustments, he had me get an X-ray just to be safe and to better understand what was going on. That alone gave me confidence--no one had ever taken that step with me before. The X-ray showed that my hips had been out of place for a long time, likely from years of skateboarding injuries. What I appreciate most about Cameron is how respectful and transparent he is. He never does anything without explaining it first, and he makes sure you're comfortable every step of the way. There's no scary cracking out of nowhere--he's cautious, thoughtful, and incredibly knowledgeable. You can tell he really cares about getting to the root of the problem rather than just rushing through a session. Now, after four sessions, my body feels better than it has in 15 years. Honestly, I felt relief right after the very first visit--it was immediate, and I've never experienced that before with any other treatment. Each session has built on that progress, and for the first time in over a decade, I feel like my body is getting back to where it should be. Cameron is a master of his craft, but just as importantly, he's kind, patient, and trustworthy. If you've ever been hesitant about chiropractors like I was, he's the one to see. I can't recommend him highly enough.
