Personable, friendly gave a great bid but unfortunately was not up to the task…read more He seemed to have a real issue with measuring. The closet he built us does not have a right angle in it and one side is a full inch and a quarter longer than the other, making it very difficult to find a door. The sliding door he installed is not centered so there's this weird filler on only one side. He didn't give us the correct measurements to purchase the door in the right size to begin with, which I think caused the off-center installation. Either he decided he couldn't do the work or got bored with the job, either way, he left us, for weeks, in the middle and went to do another job (very well reviewed, with pictures on Yelp). He made excuses every day (he was sick, his dogs got loose, Home Depot didn't have what he needed...) about why he couldn't come, never mentioning he was working on a different job. We only found out when we were looking through Yelp and saw their review. He finally showed back up with workers that he hadn't had before and asked that I pay half of their day's wages ($400 which was not an agreement in the original bid). The next time I saw him, he showed up around noon, got nothing done for a whole half day then left again. That was the day we decided we had to change. We needed the work done by March and he had proved we could not rely on him. (By the way we are still struggling, as elderly people unable to do the work ourselves, to get the work completed and it's now the following January). We had paid him in full for several jobs that he either did not do at all or did not complete. We requested a refund. He gave most of it back, in small amounts, with a couple of months prodding online, but never came through with the final $100 he owed us. I was angry, but now I'm just sad because he seemed like a nice guy, but as the job wore on it was obvious it was just too big for him and he had an excuse every day why he couldn't be here on time, why he couldn't be here at all and why he always needed more money. He would go to Home Depot every day and buy supplies that we paid for and one day he decided to buy himself a new power tool, that we paid for. I guess nice people have issues too. Sadly, I would not recommend him.

Painted my house, repaired Hardy siding, repaired and replaced tile in a bathroom, fixed rotted plates in my shed and turned an ugly storage area on the side of my house into something attractive and usable. I have a pier and beam house and the metal posts were rusted and flaking. The crew completely revived them and made them like new. They were always on time and communicative, and now that they're done, I feel like I have a new house! Would absolutely recommend GJB to anyone needing a well rounded handyman service for just about anything under the sun.

We have a ground level wooden patio with a metal veranda that was in sore need of having the…read morefloorboards replaced. Initially, we planned to do the work ourselves. We bought/stained pressure treated lumber and did the demo work of pulling up the old porch. We soon discovered to our dismay that the underlying frame and columns holding up the veranda were varying degrees of rotted-out and needed to be replaced entirely. We wanted the job done right, and so we decided to find a contractor to work with. After doing some research on Yelp, I reached out to a handful of deck building specialists. Originally, Deck N Cable Railing wasn't even on my radar. Yelp has the function that if you click a button, it'll automatically duplicate your request and send it to an additional handful of businesses. I didn't even realize that I had accidentally done this. I'm so glad I did because Deck N Cable Railing was one of the businesses that Yelp sent my way. First off, they were very fast at responding to my request for info. They reached out, asked for a bit of additional information, and then offered to come out to give a free estimate in person within 24 hours. Juan Pena, the owner, arrived on time for the appointment. He listened attentively to our needs and evaluated the job that needed to be done quickly, efficiently, and thoroughly. He was sensitive to our desire to not let the lumber we had already bought/stained go to waste and made a plan to utilize it. He was also able to give us a quote on the spot which was really helpful. On the day of the installation, Juan arrived with his crew members, Jovial and Alejandro, to help get this situated for the job before he left for the day to attend to other projects. Jovial and Alejandro spoke limited English, but they used their smartphones and Google Translate to communicate with me when a question came up and so communication worked out just fine. Jovial and Alejandro were friendly, professional, and very hard workers. They were fast and fastidious and kept the job site neat. Juan had said that it may take up to two days to finish the job, but his crew were almost complete by the end of the first day. There was a minor issue with the frame visibly sticking out just a bit at one corner of the terminating edge of the porch. It wasn't a structural issue, more of a minor cosmetic issue, but I discussed the issue with Juan, and he immediately came up with a suitable solution to address my concerns. He joined Jovial and Alejandro on the morning of the second day of the installation to personally inspect their work. The job was finished within an hour or two on the second day. All in all, Juan and his team did an excellent job with the porch. It looks fantastic and feels exceptionally sturdy. We're very happy with the quality of the work, and we are looking forward to enjoying it for many years to come. We'd recommend Deck N Cable Railing without reservation based on the quality and efficiency of their work alone, but that's not the only reason you should consider giving them a call. Juan was very easy to work with. He's professional, responsive, friendly, and conscientious. He takes a lot of pride in his work and it's important to him that his clients are 100% satisfied with the work done. Moreover, his pricing is very reasonable. His quote for the job was by far the most reasonably and competitively priced bid. Finally, and this is a bit embarrassing, I accidentally overpaid for the job. I paid Juan in cash, handing him an envelope with cash, without realizing that I had miscounted it. Imagine my surprise when I got a call from Juan that evening (apologizing for calling so late!), to let me know that I overpaid him, and he wanted to schedule a time when it was convenient for me for him to stop by in person to return the amount I overpaid. That's integrity, folks. If, like me, Deck N Cable Railing isn't on your radar, they should be. Solid 5 stars.

That's a bunch of crap. They don't know what the rest of my deck looks like. They never bothered to come out and look at it. This company is a joke and all they want to do is upsell you. Beware of this company!

Here I am giving the benefit of the doubt, because Bryan just started work on our major master bath…read moreremodel. I am supplying all material and he is doing the labor. Yesterday was "demo day" and boy was it ever. He started promptly at 8am and other than lunch did not leave until after 5pm. Amazing work as well as his worker Reuben. Demo'ed the shower, removed a separate tub, removed all the old tile, cleaned it all up. Oh, and removed all the old wall paper. Of course, they protected the floors where they had to remove all the debris as well as protected all the major items in the bedroom (beds, dressers, etc.) with plastic. So, for the first day, truly exceptional work in my opinion. Would highly recommend based on the work so far. Will update as work nears completion. My wife and I have built a million dollar custom home in the past and it is reassuring to see such professionalism. Update: day of completion. Bryan and Reuben finished the bathroom snd did a splendid job. They cleaned up well after themselves and left all in a great state. My wife and I are very pleased with their work, their timeliness each day, their overall professionalism as well as their ethics. The price paid was the price agreed upon with agreed extras along the way. We plan to use them again for two other projects in the future. We highly recommend them both. 2nd update: 3/11. After completion we noted that cleanup was less then perfect. Also, there was one full tile on the floor as you walked into the bathroom that had not enough mortar under it between the tile and the floor. How do I know? Every time one stepped on that tile it sounded hollow. All the other floor tiles were perfect. I called Bryan to tell him of this and gave him the choice to repair it when it failed or repair it now. He came out the next morning and took immediate responsibility for everything and even did a better job of cleaning. He also saw (on his own, without me telling him) of a place in the shower that needed RE-grouting. He did all this humbly and gratefully. He also reminded me to call him when I wanted he and Reuben to spend a Saturday putting flyers on doors for my campaign (I'm running for City Council in Woodway). He totally volunteered at no charge when he heard I was running. He has an amazing work ethic.
