The prices were very reasonable in comparison to many of the vintage/antique stores in general. I live about an hour away from here but I will come back to see what new stuff they have! The staff was very friendly, knowledgeable, and helpful as well. If you are looking for vintage gems at reasonable prices, they are definitely worth checking out.

An incredible shopping experience for all vinyl collectors…read more The owner of the store is an experienced and careful collector who refurbishes and treats all vinyl and vinyl equipment in the store himself. On top of that the aesthetic of the store is truly unique compared to any other in the region with it's cozy feel and warm lighting. On top of that the organization of the records is easy to access and alphabetical, my only issue is that the owner is difficult to negotiate with but he'll take offers they just have to be good offers and he at least won't give you attitude while you're trying to bargain with him, unlike most record stores nearby. However, if you get to know the guy and shop consistently he'll throw you some deals and maybe some free pins.

Bought a beautiful vintage Philips turntable from Illiana Music listed on Reverb. This was at the…read moreend of February, 2020. The turntable arrived a later... ..but was completely destroyed, because the heavily weighted platter had not been secured, was easily able to lift off the half inch tall spindle, and acted as a wrecking ball to demolish the tone arm, snapped off the tone arm rest, cracked the stylus, broke off the needle, inflicted massive gauges in the top platform off the turntable, and was able to damage mechanical components to the point of rendering it a total loss. My loss of well over $100 was not great.. ...but much more sad was that a beautiful, 50 year old piece of classic hi-fi history had survived graciously for decades.. ...only to be senselessly demolished because of a simple lack of effort (and respect) to pack securely. All turntables have a provision to allow you to lock the springs, remove the platter and place it under the cabinet to prevent this damage. Very simple and takes all of 2 minutes. The shipping box had no damage... ..it's just that during handling, if not held perfectly still at all times, the platter will lift and freely bounce around inside the dust cover... ..and the platter is nearly 75% of the entire turntable's weigh and will easily bulldoze anything it can reach... ..and it certainly did just that. I wrote Illiana Music about the total destruction immediately, then several more times with no response. In May (3 months later) I finally received a response that the owner had a death in the family and someone else had been handling selling and shipping. As much as I can relate to loss of family, Illiana Music had no problem taking my money but not taken responsibility for their neglect and failure to deliver what I paid for... ..have they made any effort to compensate my total loss of money I gave them. I've written twice since, it is now going on 4 months, no further response and I've lost well over $100.. due to Illiana Music's complete negligence, zero customer service, zero responsibility for losses because of their poor service, and totally ignoring my communication. Hate to say it but.... WHATEVER YOU DO, ***STAY AWAY FROM ILLIANA MUSIC... FAR AWAY!***

I have no idea how long they've been in business, but this place is a must considering how few record shops there are in the south suburbs. They have an extensive selection of LPs as well as used audio equipment. I had my eye on a few uncommon (but not super-rare) records and found them within minutes. Unfortunately, they were all $10 each, which is higher than I've seen anywhere else. I'm not an expert on record stores, so maybe that's not crazy, but I was a little shocked how many records were in the $7.50 to $10 range given their conditions. (There are also $3 and $5 records, but not as many.) $6 each for CDs is also pretty insane. So I'm docking them one star in that regard. Part of the charm of a record store is the crusty employees who are more than willing to give their opinion on what you listen to, regardless of if you've asked for it. Rest assured, the lady working there was pleased to tell me she hated one of my favorite bands. That ticked me off, but she does know her stuff and happily offered some suggestions of bands I might like that I've never heard of.

With a sign that clearly states donations accepted until 6:30 p.m. but when you walk in you're told they stopped accepting at 5:30 because their hours are different. The sign out front still says 6:30 and they would not take my two boxes. So I will not be donating there anymore. I'll go down the street to Goodwill

When I called the customer service to try to get a time of the pickup, the representative had an attitude. When I suggested a courtesy call so people don't have to sit around all day waiting, she replied "We're doing a free pickup. It is your responsibility to call us to get a time." I replied the items you are getting are free to you in which you sell and make money. She replied Yes but we don't call. Some people wouldn't respond when we called in the past so we don't call. I recommended automated calls and she again said we don't do that. I have donated to your organization many times and after this, I will not do so anymore. It is obvious that Salvation Army does not appreciate the people who donate and their employees are rude.

They were plugged together the same SKU number and everything as a matter of fact when they try to stand the tag on the other end, it would not go through so they went in and changed their inventory to include two instead of one right in front of me, so that way they could charge an extra amount I mean other than that not a terrible experience, but it is disheartening especially when I would buy it for my daughters room and I am on a limited budget as is but overall they are nice people. The only downside to Etc... is that there isn't a changing room, so you have to take a chance and hope that your $4.99 clothing item actually fits you. I put back several things because I wasn't able to try them on, and my rampant body dysmorphia was telling me I probably would not fit into that petite extra-small blouse, even though it was very cute and looked like it might fit. Oh well. My children did find a handful of Wii games for $1 each, though, and they were super excited. This is a good thrift store to give kids a few dollars and let them go wild. They'll find something, for sure. The proceeds for Etc... goes to a local Christian school. They sell mostly clothing, which take up the entire right side of the store. On the left side of the store is furniture, home goods, frames, kitchen items, toys and games, and even magazines. There are lots of things to paw though, at great prices.
