They tried to get me to agree to something that sounded good, but would have left me with obligations to the court. I said, "I defer all decisions to my attorney." They acted like I was making a bad decision and giving up a good deal. I didn't care. I hired Mindy Sohn, so I decided to put my faith in my legal team. After that incident, I did not show up to any other court dates. I never had to go to that first one, but I could see that all I would do is get in the way. I waited for Mindy's announcement after the final court date. No witness. Case dismissed. This was a relief, because the way the police handled the minor accident scene was terrible. An officer who arrived at the scene originally made his mind up about who was at fault and what had happened, even though he did not witness anything. He had no jurisdiction, so we waited for highway patrol. When the officer who wrote the ticket showed up, the first officer took her aside and had a long talk, appearing to mansplain the accident to her. When she came over to me, she would not listen to a family member who had just arrived because she said my family member did not witness the accident. But, neither did that first officer who had no jurisdiction and no business getting involved in her investigation! He was a big bully, presiding over the situation, trying to make sure it went the way he intended. He seemed to have some reason for getting the other accident participant who was really at fault off the hook. Of course, I was outraged and wanted my day in court. But, in legal situations, it's not like on TV. Fighting a traffic ticket is not like the Johnny Depp trial, though you might say that Mindy Sohn is the Camille Vasquez of traffic-related court cases. I recommend, if you have a speeding ticket, red-light camera ticket, accident ticket, DUI, or anything else she handles, call the office of Mindy S. Sohn.
