Many dinosaur books do not talk about some of the ones here. I wish they had a book about all of the books you saw during the visit. I would definitely buy it! Most of the books at the gift shop were cartoons or with just a few pictures and a lot of facts. Some fun little things: feeding koi fish on the path, some benches in the shade to eat a snack while walking, two large playgrounds with many picnic tables and a museum to look more facts about dinosaurs. I do wish they would tell us more about the dinosaur prints found in dinosaur state valley park. Many dinosaurs here were found in Canada, Asia, Europe, or Africa. Only a few were around here. I did love to learn about the only one found in a cow farm in Kansas! Overall, it was a great trip, and I would recommend to any dinosaur fans! If you come on a day, 80+ degrees, it will be hot, so bring lots of water, hats, sunscreen, fans, and cool clothes. There is some shade on the trail to get some relief. There is a changing table in the bathrooms with 4 stalls, so it's not too long of a wait when lines form.

One of the most fascinating things about this museum is the fossilized foot prints of what would have been considered the earliest known humans. They were massive and are said to have stood over 8.5 feet tall. I've always wanted to know what made beings grow so large and tall back then? Anywho, see that along with the bones of some of the largest amphibious and land based beings were a sight to be see in fairytale books.

I only say this because the front door to the art galleries was unlocked, and I helped myself to a leisurely look at the exhibits. Honestly, I probably wasn't supposed to be there, but I didn't know any better. After all that, I very much enjoyed looking around at the art work, as well as the grounds encompassing the buildings. For my next trip, I'll hopefully get better prepared for actual visiting hours. Until then, I'll consider it as a private viewing.

Somewhere in there is even a story of of how Barnard traded with the Indians for a (captured) woman, who later became his wife. I highly recommend reading the Mill Museum info at the web address. The docents are super friendly and will take you through the building, which was bought by Richard Moore on the 2nd August 1979. He restored and furnished it with antiques from the Federal period to the Eastlake period (1775-1875). He established Barnard's Mill Art Museum in the old hospital addition and filled it with the art collection from the Fielder Foundation and art works of his private collection. A must see while in Glen Rose. PS. Did not make it inside on tis trip, as it's only open on weekends and we were here on a Tuesday.

But all of the curators are knowledgeable, friendly, and eager to provide all sorts of factoids. These people are really passionate about their projects and dinosaur digs- you might even get recruited to help them dig up some dinosaur bones yourself up in Wyoming! We were thoroughly surprised by the Mayborn Museum. It looks small but it offers so much for kids…read more The first floor is the museum and the second floor is interactive and mainly for kids. We spent the whole day here except going out for lunch as they offer re-entry. Check out the Design Lab and Lights and Sounds areas. We had the most fun there. Also, there are scavenger hunts all over the museum so keep your eyes open for those.

Many of the interactive exhibits that would interest younger folks has been updated. Interactive exhibits is a big part of the museum exhibits. Very educational and fun. The Holy Sepulcher exhibit cost $18. It featured small wooden fragments believed to be relics of the True Cross from Christ's crucifixion. Each item carries a rich history. As Christians, we enjoyed this exhibit very much. The other areas of the museum were more spacious. 2 notable works of art included Caravaggio's The Cardsharps and Michelangelo's The Torment of Saint Anthony, an early piece thought to be his very first painting. The entire museum was easy to walk through and explore at your own pace. Service: The staff was friendly and accommodating. Self-service luggage storage was a plus as it was very convenient. We had 2 carry-on luggages and a backpack. There is a big cafe inside with patio seating for lunchtime. Parking: Free in the parking lot. We took ride-share from DFW airport since we came here before checking in to our hotel back in Dallas.

There is wartime memorabilia section at the entrance from most wars including WW1, WW2, etc. There are displays of guns and rifles from earlier eras, as well as medals and uniforms. However, the atmosphere is thick with the smell of dust and enclosure (not good if you're asthmatic or have breathing concerns). You are required to leave a minimum $5 donation per person.
