I visited two weeks ago, the elevator in the parking garage was broken!! The wouldn't go down, only up. Let's me clear - I am not that lazy, I will walk when needed. However my friend has a busted knee, which wouldn't allow her to climb stairs. She's already walking like a pirate. I went to 3 other parking garages before I found one that felt safe with an easy walk. We purchased tickets in advance ($17 - Super Sweet Karaoke) General Admisson. As we entered The Sweet Tooth Hotel you could hear the off-key Karaoke in the bar area. We received a room key at the desk for the additional 7-8 rooms. The first three rooms were vibrant and full of local art installations. I was obsessed with the Mad Hatter's tea Party themed room. The bar is fun! Lots of reflective mirrors. You can purchase desserts here as well as cocktails. I wish this place stayed open until 1am. We stayed until closing which was (11pm) I ordered the "sunset dream" cocktail. All cocktails are $8 on Fridays. The bartender gave great suggestions. I would definitely recommend going here if you're in the city.

The Holy Sepulcher exhibit cost $18. It featured small wooden fragments believed to be relics of the True Cross from Christ's crucifixion. Each item carries a rich history. As Christians, we enjoyed this exhibit very much. The other areas of the museum were more spacious. 2 notable works of art included Caravaggio's The Cardsharps and Michelangelo's The Torment of Saint Anthony, an early piece thought to be his very first painting. The entire museum was easy to walk through and explore at your own pace. Service: The staff was friendly and accommodating. Self-service luggage storage was a plus as it was very convenient. We had 2 carry-on luggages and a backpack. There is a big cafe inside with patio seating for lunchtime. Parking: Free in the parking lot. We took ride-share from DFW airport since we came here before checking in to our hotel back in Dallas.

The staff and everyone we interacted with were very friendly, and the parking was awesome--easy and convenient. General admission is around $16, but if you visit on Friday, admission is free, which makes it an even better value. The location is also great because you can easily walk over to the Kimbell Art Museum and make a full day of exploring the Cultural District. For me, one of the biggest highlights is the building itself. Tadao Ando is one of my favorite architects, so getting to experience one of his buildings in person was really special. I've always looked at those iconic concrete Y-columns and thought of them almost like giant martini glasses holding up the precast concrete roof. The combination of concrete, glass, water, and natural light creates such a peaceful atmosphere. I really love the location, the architecture, and the overall experience. Definitely a museum I would recommend, especially if you appreciate modern architecture.

The DMA has a supporter membership for $120. It includes parking which would cost you $20 otherwise. You also get two free admission tickets that you can use to view the museum's collections or any special exhibitions each and every day of the year. The membership will also provide a discount at the museum store and in the snack bar. Visit twice during the year, and the membership more than pays for itself. You can buy your membership online, print the receipt, and show it for free parking. Once inside the venue, show the receipt at the check-in desk to get your free tickets to the special exhibit(s). Your DMA cards will be mailed to you in four weeks, in the mean time, use that printed receipt for everything. We renewed our membership this weekend April 2026 and went to see the Samurai Collection. Metalwork is not a favorite of mine, but I was still fascinated by the stories presented on the placards throughout the exhibit and I certainly appreciated the beautiful, intricate craftsmanship presented in each piece. I didn't realize that the Samurai swords and armor had been banned from production in Japan, so the metal workers pivoted and learned to become artisans. They started to make and repair metal embellishments, lanterns, and incense burners for the numerous temples in the country. Many of the items in this collection were from Kyoto and Nara, both places my husband and I visited in November 2009. The full body armor was fascinating. Little pieces of leather were coated in metal, painted, and woven tightly together to form a moveable, but protective layer over the body. The workmanship was exquisite. The exhibit had a few short videos you could watch to learn about the work. I especially liked the 30 second clip about the process of making cloisonné. These vases are beautiful and the process to make each one is detailed and meticulous. Kids could collect a postcard-sized scavenger hunt near the entrance and use that to stay in engaged throughout the visit. At the end, there was a sign on the wall with the answer key pictures showing which art pieces help the intricate designs they were looking for. The DMA has a permanent collection that includes a variety of art from around the globe, as well as multiple special exhibits throughout the year. Everyone is bound to find something that delights them and inspires conversation and wonder. Worth a visit!

Many dinosaur books do not talk about some of the ones here. I wish they had a book about all of the books you saw during the visit. I would definitely buy it! Most of the books at the gift shop were cartoons or with just a few pictures and a lot of facts. Some fun little things: feeding koi fish on the path, some benches in the shade to eat a snack while walking, two large playgrounds with many picnic tables and a museum to look more facts about dinosaurs. I do wish they would tell us more about the dinosaur prints found in dinosaur state valley park. Many dinosaurs here were found in Canada, Asia, Europe, or Africa. Only a few were around here. I did love to learn about the only one found in a cow farm in Kansas! Overall, it was a great trip, and I would recommend to any dinosaur fans! If you come on a day, 80+ degrees, it will be hot, so bring lots of water, hats, sunscreen, fans, and cool clothes. There is some shade on the trail to get some relief. There is a changing table in the bathrooms with 4 stalls, so it's not too long of a wait when lines form.
