Sara and Leann were our Day of Coordinators for our wedding at the Ebell of Los Angeles. They knew the ins and outs of the venue and staff, and put us at ease as soon as we met them. They were great to work with, always friendly, and easy to get along with. We were planning from out of state, so we were so grateful for their flexibility as well. Our wedding day went off with basically no problems. There was a minor issue with the flowers our florist brought for our sweetheart table, but Sara and Leann were able to set it up beautifully with the flowers we already had. I had full trust in them. I knew they'd be able to handle anything. They were great with communication between us and the vendors throughout the planning process. They were so organized, prompt, and very detail oriented. 5 Reasons why Something Events gave us the most amazing wedding posted 5/13/2013 1. Creativity. Something Events had the most beautiful, simple ideas that made our wedding design turn out exactly the way we imagined it in our minds, and a couple of things that we didn't think of that our guests still talk about a year later! 2. Relief. We were so slammed with our jobs and families, and had too much on our plate. Something Events did what no one else could- relieve us of the stress AND make us feel like we were still driving every decision. 3. Go-to contact. About 2 weeks before our day, Something Events essentially took the keys to the car and drove every detail through the rehearsal dinner and wedding, and again always made us feel connected and in control of everything. 4. Amazing demeanor. You have to see your event people more than almost anyone else on your big day, and in my opinion, no one can make you feel calm, happy and confident like Something Events. 5. Crisis-Averter. We didn't hear a word about any Vendor/Guest/Timing challenges at all, and were left to just enjoy an unbelievable day. Sara and Nicole did an incredible job with our wedding. They went above and beyond our expectations. We of course received the list of what would be included with our package, but were floored by how much constant attention was given to our wedding. My husband and I would regularly wake up to friendly emails outlining vendor quotes, to-do lists, and schedules, all of which Something Evenets put so much time into. We were initially on the fence about hiring someone to coordinate the wedding. We are major DIYers and were confident in our ability to craft our own wedding (of only 50 people). However, we hired Sara and Nicole about 2 months before the wedding and we cannot stop saying how glad we are that we did, as in, I am scared to think how it would have been without them. They totally understood our vision and did everything they could to make it come to life, including helping with design and giving recommendations on how and where to set up everything from decorations to lighting. We already had a lot of our decorations crafted, but when we got too busy Sara and Nicole took over and did an outstanding job. They have excellent taste and really understand current trends in wedding design. Something Events immediately took over all of our vendor relations, found quotes on everything from limos to ice (yes we had to buy ice!), made personalized schedules, and designed and hand crafted a killer dessert table, all while being totally responsive, accessible and friendly. We had such constant communication that my husband and I now miss talking to them. On the day of the wedding they were calm and in control, they showed up early, picked up last minute items from my house, met all the vendors, set up all decorations, directed everyone through the day-of with total ease, packed up decorations and stayed until the last minute of our venue rental. I had the chance to work with Something Events and my quick comment on the experience is that they more or less masqueraded as professional wedding planners, and our venue suggested we let them go after our venue threatened to cancel our wedding because of Sara's lack of responsiveness to them. Even if you are seeking affordable wedding planners, I would still recommend you look elsewhere -- if you go with affordable wedding planners who do a poor job, then you'll be sad on one of the most important days of your life. Sara and Nicole really know their stuff!! They are creative, fun, professional and easy to work with when you are planning your big day. I hired this dynamic duo for "day of" coordination activities and design ideas - they evaluated what I already had, got to know us and made a perfect recommendation for a design theme that tied everything together perfectly. We met often, communicated regularly and I always knew what was going on at all times. They coordinated and communicated with EVERY vendor that I had with such an effortless attitude that it made everyone immediately at ease. They had organized timelines, breakdowns, short lists and back up plans for everything....I had a million questions, they put my mind at rest every time and never once looked annoyed or got tired of me asking a question (that's amazing customer service!!). 2 days before my wedding, I went to get my rings cleaned and was at the jewelers chatting, laughing and talking about how relaxed I was and ready.....the jeweler asked me for a business card for my coordinators because they "ALWAYS see the brides before the ceremonies and they are RARELY as relaxed as I was that day" What a tribute to a job well done.... The day of - I never felt a glitch (if there was one), the day was smooth - many of my guests commented on how well run the day was and that there was none of the typically lag time that implies poor planning. This team had it locked up and running like they had done it a million times....I am so grateful and would recommend them without hesitation. I kept having moments of panic that people wouldn't arrive (type a personality trying to let go) and right on schedule they all arrived. Something Events (Sara and Brian Geiss) is an actual scam designed to take your money. They created a secret arrangement with our vendors and forced the vendors to *pay them* to be a vendor in our wedding!! Then took our money and wouldn't return it. How did I not even know things like this were even possible?! When we had to let go of the vendors, they shared with us that they already paid Sara to be in the wedding. Honestly, save yourself the headache lovely brides! There are really wonderful, affordable wedding planners who will save you the hassle so skip Something Events. Last thing, worst thing, I DIDN"T CHECK YELP! Yelp saves lives. I wish I saw what the one bride went through. I would have changed my mind. Cheers Yelp folks! Sara and her husband, Brian, and their team are unfortunately very amateur when it comes to wedding planning. As much as I absolutely *hate* doing things like posting reviews online, I'd hate for another bride to have to go through what I went through, so I'm sharing this for her. Please, find another wedding planner. I wish I checked Yelp to see that their reviews are 2 years old and there are only 3! That's a red flag, but I never checked, so here I am... :/ We ultimately had to fire Sara and her husband because, frankly, her husband has no idea how to plan weddings. Here's what happened: 1) After being slow to respond, Sara had to arrange for Brian to step in and plan my wedding one month in advance because of her own personal reasons 2) I was slightly worried because I had never met Brian and didn't know he was Sara's husband (which meant he also had to deal with the life event Sara went through) but I went with it 3) Brian was extremely slow to respond, and anything he promised to do within a certain time frame, he just didn't do. He wasn't professional, but even worse, he seemed too preoccupied to actually pay attention to important wedding details 4) Our wedding venue asked us why we chose them as vendors (we married at the Montage in Laguna Beach) because they didn't seem professional *at all* 5) All of the vendors we had to cancel once we met them with 3 weeks until the wedding (they kept delaying our meeting vendors until I became angry), as they were all also amateur (the florist did florals on the side, and was a full-time SAHM) 6) They promised to refund us our money when we shared we weren't happy with their work, and they *never did* 7) We are now taking them to court for our $4,000 deposit 8) Even worse, they actually agreed to give the money back because they understood that they weren't able to do their best work, then changed their minds and ultimately caused so much stress, no bride should ever go through this! My genuine hope is that if you are looking for a wedding planner, you find someone who really cares about your special day. Sara and Brian did not, and it really showed. (The worst part is they were recommended to us by close friends, so this came as a huge shock). read more

I find it very interested that Something Events had zero reviews for almost a year and now have had 3 back to back 5 star reviews (two on the same day), absolutely not a coincidence. Clearly Sara and Brian are getting their friends to post good reviews about them as a cover up. Don't be fooled by fake positive reviews people, Something Events are two amateurs claiming to run a legitimate wedding planning business. We were lied to from the beginning and were told that Sara has a team to help us in her absence. We found out later that they only have 2 free lance part time employees (who we never heard from) and that Brian, her husband, would be the main contact. Brian is woefully incompetent and has a bad attitude. If you're not good at your job, at least be nice about it. He wasn't consistently distant and unhelpful towards us and even our parents and venue organizers. We had to fire Sara and Brian 3 weeks before the wedding because they completely failed to deliver anything of substance and were a hinderence rather than a positive influence in our wedding planning process. One clear example is that 3 weeks before the wedding we still did not have mock-ups for florals. When my wife asked how the alter would be decorated they said no decorations are needed because the venue is so beautiful!? Then Brian had the gall to blame my wife for them making crazy assumptions about what we wanted. What kind of wedding planners blames the bride about her dream wedding day? We begged them for weeks to put us in touch with the florist, photographer, videographer, and DJ. We finally had enough of their foolishness and hired new wedding planners who did all the work and planned our perfect wedding within 2 weeks. Our new wedding planners saw the website for the photographer Sara and Brian recommended and were stunned how terrible their pictures were. They were definitely trying to cut side deals and make more money by finding inferior vendors and keeping some of the money for themselves. When we fired them they agreed to refund our deposit only to renege and say 90% of the work was already done. How can 90% of the the work be done if all the vendors haven't been hired and florals, seating arrangements, processional order, and menu, live entertainment, DJ playlist all haven't been finalized! If you want to be scammed and stressed out while planning your own wedding, Something Events (still not sure if they are even a legally registered business), aka Sara Geiss and Brian Geiss are the people for you. Otherwise save your time and money and hire professionals that have more than 8 reviews on yelp. read more

Sara Geiss and her team did an incredible job as the Day of Coordinators for my daughter's wedding in Sept. The church and the reception site each had their own "coordinators" so I almost didn't book a DoC but I am SOOOOO glad that I did and that it was Sara & team. They provided all of the services that DoCs are supposed to provide but what I really loved about them was their calming demeanor and thorough attention to detail. Every DoC I contacted, which was many, told me that I would have nothing to worry about, that they would take care of everything. Sara and her team were the perfect fit to help coordinate the day of my daughter's wedding. We had some unusual challenges, being that the wedding was only a few months away, and the bride and groom were going to be in town for a few short weeks prior to the big day. Sara listened intently to all the information I had gathered up to that point and was on board with what was needed in a short period of time. Plus she and her team struck just the right tone: competent, professional, but warm and friendly and very attentive to last minute details. And it was important that she could immediately take over the planning I was doing and have an immediate and comfortable relationship with my daughter and her fiance. I wanted to make sure that even with all the planning the wedding day could flow along and feel effortless. And that definitely was accomplished. Sara and her team were awesome. We contacted them fairly last minute looking for a day of coordinator to help with decorations and last minute details. Their original quote was a little high for our budget so they worked with us to make an adjusted package so that we were only paying for the services we really needed. At our consultation they provided lots of great ideas for how to do things that we were struggling with. Decorating our arch on a budget meant no flowers, but we wanted something and didn't know how to do it. Not only did they give us great ideas but they executed their plans on the day of seamlessly. Sara helped us make tissue puff balls and gave us all the help we needed. On the day of we ran into some issues with our florist as we didn't order enough centerpieces. Sara handled everything at the venue and made sure the tables were decorated with the bridesmaids bouquets as soon as possible. I'm so glad we hired Something Events. They made all the difference on our wedding day and we couldn't have been happier with their services. read more

Something-Events provided great day-off coordination for our wedding! My fiance and I enjoyed our planning meetings with Sara and the team. The team was friendly, organized and helped us think through some last minute details. The day of the wedding, family and friends were truly impressed by how professional and responsive the coordinators were. They helped set up some decorations at the venue, coordinated the ceremony, worked well with other vendors and also helped the bride when needed.
