It's called an import store but there's also a bit of local crafts. The prices aren't inexpensive, but it's nice to support local and there's stuff you can't get anywhere else.

As we browsed through the window, Imports Gift Shop - A Touch of Molokai seemed like the place. Maybe this is about as close as Molokai gets to a department store, and it's open every day from 9:00 till 5:00 pm or so, except for Sunday. Lots of bright natural sunlight inside. There are a lot of things in here, but the store is not cluttered. Clothes (dress-up and casual), shoes, housewares, jewelry, accessories, candles, Hawaiiana, arts and crafts, souvenirs and lots more. I bought a wood serving tray for my mother that looked Hawaiian with its flower pattern (she will never know it was made in China unless she reads this). Found for myself a Take It Easy - Molokai t-shirt for myself as Proof of Life. That t-shirt beat out one other with a picture of a dog that said: Molokai Dog - no fence - no leash - no problem. Very cool. The prices for things seemed reasonable and the staff (family?) were friendly. Ala Malama Avenue is pretty much the only real commercial street on the island that we saw, but we didn't go into the residential area near the airport. There are not too many stores here, but they seem to cover what you need. Didn't see a furniture store though, but there has gotta be one around somewhere. I'm sure if you lived here there are all kinds of things absent from the island. However, I saw a postcard here that said: paradise is sometimes measured by the things that are missing.

During our recent visit to Maui, we discovered this charming store, which offers Hawaiian Heritage jewelry at affordable prices. The owner, Mirasol, is incredibly kind and helpful. I purchased three necklaces as gifts and a bangle bracelet for my son's girlfriend, but the bracelet turned out to be too large. Mirasol kindly exchanged it for a smaller size, which left a lasting impression on me. I was so pleased with her service that I ordered another bracelet for the girlfriend's birthday, and it arrived within just two days. We passed by this little shop when we were walking around Lahaina and we were so glad we did! The shop owners Mirasol and Alex were both so kind and patient. I've always wanted a Tahitian black pearl necklace but the price tag on them is quite steep. So I was so excited when I found this little shop with a good collection of Tahitian black pearls (including a beautiful floating style one with a perfectly round and lustrous black pearl) at very reasonable prices. Mirasol was very knowledgeable about pearls and she was so patient in letting me try on different styles. They also have a small and simple collection of pink and black coral jewelry in 14k gold settings (and the prices are much better than other big brand name stores on the same street). Alex has a remarkable collection of beautifully-made ukuleles, and you can hear him tune and play them sometimes! He also joked around with his wife Mirasol, and they put no pressure on their customers to purchase from their store, so we were super relaxed shopping there. Needless to say, I was pleasantly surprised by the quality of jewelry and prices here. Marisol and Alex were both SO funny and so sweet. I always try to support local businesses, so I ended up buying a pearl necklace and a pair of coral earrings there! One thing that is really great about this store is their selection of affordable jewelry and sterling silver rings. I bought a cute, three-flower ring from here. Whilst on our honeymoon, my husband lost his wedding band in the ocean. He was lucky to find an attractive, temporary replacement sterling silver band from here for about $20. Rings are priced from around $15 - $22. There is also a nice selection of other souvenirs and gifts. Worth a stop in! (Also, the gent behind the jewelry counter gave us some great suggestions on dining and drinks.)

As soon as you come through the door, you'll be greeted with crisp air conditioning and warm friendly aloha!
