Ordered flowers online and upgraded from standard to deluxe and the flowers delivered were not like the picture in online picture (in my opinion) also were very cheap - carnations and daisies versus roses and lilies that were shown in online picture. I walked in, eager to see what sort of floral arrangements they had. I was looking to buy some thing for my wife for our anniversary, which also happens to be Valentine's Day. The older lady behind the counter, put her head in both her hands and said "you men are ridiculous. You're supposed to call ahead." I didn't say anything, but was rather surprised, given the fact that I was willing to spend some money as a customer in their shop. The arrangements they did have were very nice, but a little pricey. I found the florist in the Columbia area using yelp and called with a very short notice to have flowers delivered for a funeral visitation the same day. Wow! There are too many words to describe how awesome Something Special is. Grant is truly a remarkable and creative designer. I do not desire normal flowers when I send arrangements, I just tell Grant that I want something funky. I not only get something funky but beautiful as well. My friends take pictures of the arrangements to show them off. The Christmas display is one to see it is a fairy land come to life. Something Special Florist did my flowers for my wedding Oct 7th. To be honest I have been rather torn about leaving a review. The experience with the shop is both great, and kinda upsetting. Grant is very gifted in being able to do unusual and out do the box amazing designs. Upon meeting Grant he is very nice and welcoming. With that I will say don't second guess him to much, because with his gift does come a tiny touch of harsh arrogance if he feels you are not trusting him. My wedding was extremely different, I was going for more of a dark and moody color scheme as well as floral swags for my bridesmaids instead of bouquets. In our meeting ,I asked for dark colors such as burgundy, navy, deep purples or richness like jewel tones. The one and only pop of color I had asked for were billy buttons which were a mustard gold tone. So here was the hard part, the day of my wedding I received my flowers which were not the color scheme I had expressed. I had colors such as bright red, hot pink, bright purple, and even a light lavender rose in my bridal bouquet. Now I know what you are thinking, why didn't I say anything? Well here is where I am torn. My flowers were still beautiful. Everyone talks about them and they look great in photos. I am the only one who knows they are wrong. I will say that the groomsmen sides flowers were the perfect scheme, and I loved the use of the blue thistle like I had mentioned. My only regret is that We went with more of a moody makeup and nail tone, which made me feel a tad disconnected from the whole look. Also my additional flowers such as my mothers pin/ preachers pin had a peach colored ribbon around them that were in my option extremely random or far from the color scheme. I really didn't understand the reasoning for the color choice of the ribbon. So my advice is to explain a little more, you won't be disappointed in the design and direction Grant goes with, just make such sure to give a clear theme or scheme. Or ask for a early preview? Seeing flowers only on the day of is very hard on the client. Who wants to tell someone that something quite isn't what you want or what can you do? It's the day of, and it's hundreds of flowers. I will say the price was well worth the set up and displays the day of, the texture , displays and direction were perfect! Just the colors were completely off. read more
