What happened to the ice cream??? I was so dumbfounded by the color of the ice cream because it use to be deep purple when we use to get the ube in the past...if you compare colors. Now it's like this very light light shade of purple. My husband thought we got vanilla ice cream for a second. Even the taste was different. Did you guys run out of ube or are we just cutting costs? The ice cream didn't even taste as ube like as before either. So strange. I'm going to have to come back and try the other ones too. I saw the pistachio one and it also was look so light compared to the pics...it also look vanilla like. Even the guy was asking- oh is this pistachio? Service was good but slow. Stopped by Somi Somi with my sister-in-law on a scorching hot day when we were craving ice cream and taiyaki, and it definitely hit the spot! I ordered the matcha soft serve with black sesame filling in my taiyaki, and my sister-in-law got the ube soft serve with Nutella-filled taiyaki. The soft serve was creamy and refreshing, and the taiyaki was perfectly crispy on the outside. Mine had a generous amount of black sesame filling, which paired really well with the matcha. My only small critique is that I wish the matcha flavor had been a little stronger. It was good, but the matcha taste was fairly subtle, and as someone who loves matcha and black sesame together, I would have enjoyed a bolder matcha flavor. The staff was friendly and welcoming, and the shop itself was clean and well-kept. I had actually forgotten how much I enjoy Somi Somi--it had been several years since my last visit. SomiSomi Soft Serve & Taiyaki is such a fun little treat spot, especially if you have kids! They have taiyaki, which is like a soft, breaded pancake waffle shaped like a fish and filled with your choice of fillings. My kids' absolute favorite is Nutella (of course ), but they have a variety of options if you want to switch it up. Their weekly swirls were matcha/ube, chocolate/Thai tea, and cookies & cream with milk tea...and they don't play about flavor. Everything tastes rich and creamy without being too heavy. I love that you can mix flavors and make it cute and aesthetic too. They also offer flavored pasteurized milk that comes in these really cool glass bottles, not going to lie, the bottles alone make you want to buy one. It just feels different than your typical dessert run. The whole vibe is bright, clean, and fun. It's definitely one of those places you go for a sweet treat and end up taking pictures before you even take a bite. Don't sleep on Somi Somi! The establishment is always super clean and service is always great! As for the product itself, so bomb. I got the milk tea soft serve with custard filled. If you love cold treat , you have to check out this ice cream spot! I absolutely adore everything about this place. The service is fantastic--friendly, efficient, and genuinely welcoming. One of my favorite things is their Taiyako with two flavors--it's honestly divine! You can even get extra taiyako on the side to enjoy with your ice cream. The flavors are rich, the ice cream is creamy, and every bite is delicious. This is my go-to spot, especially in the summer when it's blazing hot outside. The only challenge is the location--it's in Shanghai Plaza, where parking can be a headache. But trust me, if you can brave the crazy parking situation, this place is absolutely worth it. Somi Somi is Amazing!!! If you haven't tried it, this place is an absolute MUST! We absolutely love their soft serve ice cream and fish-shaped cake (Taiyaki). It's such a great concept, and the desserts not only taste delicious , but also look super cute. The store is very spacious, nicely decorated with bright colors and very inviting atmosphere. They have counter-top seating inside and a couple of tables outside as well. Staff is kind , very friendly, welcoming and they truly appreciate your business. There are 3 steps to order. Select a cup or taiyaki, the choice of soft serve and the filling for inside. At the end they have different toppings you get to choose from. You really can't go wrong with any items you put together, it's all equally delicious! We have ordered several different items from the menu and we were pleasantly surprised with the flavors , not too sweet at all, ice cream was very creamy and the Taiyaki were very fluffy and yummy!!! Soft serve and taiyaki? Yes, please!!! I've had this place marked in my bookmarks for so long, but never had the chance to stop by. Well, my time came when I was in the neighborhood for dinner and I jumped at the chance to stop by and have some yummy desserts. Walking in, the place is sparsely decorated but in a fun loft way. We didn't realize where the line was though, only figured it out when we were being ignored and the girls who came in after us stood in a particular spot and were called upon next. Oops! If this is your first time in, look at the walls, the "red carpet" will tell you where the line is. We ordered soft serve and taiyaki. The taiyaki takes a bit because it's freshly made but it's well worth the wait. If you're ordering soft serve, even with a taiyaki pushed into it, it will come out super fast. I got milk and sesame swirl with a custard taiyaki and Biscoff topping. Soooooo good. My moms ube with coconut topping was pretty freaking tasty as well. I've never tried taiyaki that wasn't red bean so the mint oreo was a special experience that I want to have more of. I cannot wait to come back and have some more of these amazing treats! read more

Somisomi is unique with different flavors of soft serve ice cream in a bright white and yellow space meant to be inviting, warm and a place to relax. I got the earl grey and matcha soft serve with tayaki with matcha custard. The tayaki is one of my favorite things but it was a little bit crunchier than normal for me. We had also asked to put both the fruit and macaron but only one made it onto the dish. read more

I searched on Yelp for dessert places and they recommended SomiSomi. Since Yelp has never steered me wrong we decided to try it out. So glad we did. Service was great. The guy taking our order made sure he had our order right. The music was a little loud which made it difficult to talk to them but they still got our order correct. I loved my dessert. The ice cream was delicious and with the Nutella coding inside just took it over the top. This is our new favorite dessert place. The ube & milk tea combo with a black sesame filling is addictingly good! The combo paired with the black sesame complimented all the flavors so well. Went with the biscoff toppings but maybe would've been even more complimentary with coconut flakes. The ice cream is creamy and not overly sweet, you could taste the milk tea which is usually a plus plus for me since some places make it tastes more like milk. I got the upside down so I'm not sure if you're supposed to eat the taiyaki first, but I took mine off and just ate it as I wanted to and then made my own little cone. Whichever way you want to enjoy it, the choice is yours. The service was quick and the cashier recommended the black sesame filling so I took her rec and wasn't disappointed. It's fun watching them prepare your order, so the ambiance is light and casual. There's also some high chairs if you want to sit and eat it there. Tried another location further from the strip. Located in a relatively update strip mall with other restaurants. Not as busy as the Spring Mountain location but I don't mind that. Tried their summer special Mango/Guava combo. The flavor was not intense but still enjoyable with the soft serve really dense and creamy; the way I like my soft serve. My favorite!!!! I don't come to somi somi often but I do follow them on IG to keep updated about their seasonal flavors I love the new banana milk flavor, it's so good!! If you're a fan of Korean banana milk you will absolutely love this. It is quite sweet and filling so I usually just opt for the soft serve in a cup. My mom also got her favorite, cookies and cream, and it actually wasn't too sweet which we were a fan of! Staff is always friendly. Somisomi, you did not disappoint for our first time! This is their Henderson location in a busy plaza on Eastern at Richmar. This is an ice cream shop that serves Korean-style desserts, most notably their "Ah Boong" treat, which is their version of an ice cream cone shaped like a goldfish that has soft serve ice cream and your choice of a filling stuffed inside of it. You can also get this in a cup, which is called the "Upside Down Ah Boong". According to the lady that placed our order, the upside down Ah Boong gives you more ice cream than the regular Ah Boong. The more you know. When we walked in at first, it wasn't too busy, but during and after we placed our order, it was starting to get really packed with more people coming in and the line was beginning to spill out the door. They have some seating inside, but not a whole lot. All they have is a small couch in the front and some high-top chairs near the back of the shop. Keep note of this if you plan to visit, especially if you're here during a ridiculously hot summer day. I ordered an upside down Ah Boong with chocolate soft serve ice cream and custard filing. My boyfriend ordered the taiyaki (4) with (2) Oreo and (2) matcha filling. The taiyaki is exactly like a waffle but with filling inside. When my order came out, the guy calling out customer's names asked me if I wanted any toppings, in which I chose rainbow sprinkles, finished with a strawberry on top. Let me tell you, I SCARFED that goldfish cone down, even before my boyfriend got his taiyaki. I actually did this for a reason, because the ice cream in my cup was melting really quickly and I didn't want to get it all over the place (it was still well over 100 degrees at 8:00pm, even when the sun came down). The custard was absolutely amazing and it paired very well with the ice cream. My boyfriend enjoyed his taiyaki but said a few of them became a little soggy on the bottom overtime. He ended up putting his leftovers in the fridge, which kinda did the trick. This is a place that we'll probably come back to in the future, as it's not too far away from my house. Delicious soft serve and crispy taiyaki. Friendly, polite customer service in a convenient location that is light and bright. There is seating inside as well as a table outside. We had the upside-down milk tea with custard filling in the taiyaki and an upside-down cookies and cream with custard filling. You can choose from a variety of toppings and we got the strawberry with a macaron. The soft serve is not too sweet and is complimented by the crunchy taiyaki. Somisomi is my favorite sweet treat if I'm ever in China town This location does tend to be super busy but the staff seems to put out orders pretty fast so be patient(: When you first walk in it looks crowded but they have sweating in the back. They do switch out their ice cream flavors weekly. My favorites are the cookies and cream, matcha and strawberry swirl. I do get the upside with netuella for my fish filling! Nice and cool high ceiling. They should remove the big huge wooden chairs right in front of the counter and replace with table and chairs that are more comfortable to sit and enjoy the foods. DELICIOUS! I came here with my family for a little treat. We ordered soft serve, taiyaki, and cold brew. The service was pretty quick and the workers were helpful and greeted us when we walked in and when we left. The music inside is a bit loud but the location is super clean with a large bench to sit on as well as chairs and a long table against the wall. We loved the taiyaki. My favorite flavor was the Nutella filled one. At first we ordered only a few flavors and after tasting we actually ended up ordering more! It was super good. They come out really hot so I definitely recommend letting it cool down a bit before biting in! read more

The soft serve is smooth... like real smooth. Not that icy stuff some places try to pass off. We went with ube and matcha swirl--rich, creamy, perfectly balanced. You taste the ube right away... buttery and floral. Then the matcha slides in earthy and just bitter enough to keep it interesting. This ain't no basic froyo energy. This is flavor with depth. Some flavors that I chose were also painfully slow to come out. I don't remember if this situation is normal because I haven't been back in such a long time. My topping choices were brownies, mini M&M's, mini Reese's peanut butter cups, and hot fudge, and Kyle's choices were blueberries and numerous cereal items. When we weighed our cups at checkout, the guy helping us out barely made any communication with us. No greeting of any kind when we walked in, no "hello", no "thank you, come again", nothing. It was a little busy inside, and I understand that nobody likes working late at night, especially on a Friday, (it was like 8:30pm when we were there), but to me, no communication at all towards customers is a little rude. The frozen yogurt, though, tasted exactly like how I remember it when I was in high school. The brownies that they have are also delicious and this kind of topping is my main favorite. They provide lids with your cup in the case you plan to take it back home with you, to prevent any type of mess from happening. This location opened just outside of Green Valley Ranch just last year, and I decided to invite my friend over here instead of our usual late evening burger stop. I tried the Classic Burger ($9.99). It was pretty solid, with a decent thick patty, hefty bun, some lettuce and tomato, and a burger sauce. It wasn't that exciting compared to some of the other popular burger chains though, and it was giving lots of California vibes in the sense that there wasn't a lot of fattiness. I did get it with a combo (+$4.99) though. The onion rings were crispy and mostly were bite-through-able, and they went alright with the ranch. I do think a 1:2 or 1:3 ketchup:ranch mixture might be the play, but I didn't investigate thoroughly yet. I also tried my friend's fries, which were okay but not that memorable either. My rating was really not gonna be awesome except for my drink (also included in the aforementioned combo). It was my take on an Arnold Palmer, a roughly 1:1 mix of their unsweetened tea and their lemonade. I later found out that the tea is a passion fruit tea, which is why I was getting fruity/tropical vibes that aren't usually part of this tea. And the sweetness ended up so addictively ideal that I could hardly stop drinking the thing. I will be back to Ruby's when I really crave that Arnold Palmer, and hopefully I'll figure out what to do to find a better entree on their menu. Maybe my friend's chili cheese dog could be a good starting point.
