I've had consistently great experiences with the accountants here as they're knowledgeable, professional, and helpful. Unfortunately, the same cannot be said for the front desk. The woman at reception, who I understand is the owner's wife, is consistently rude, dismissive, and unwelcoming. From her tone of voice to the way she speaks to clients, there's a clear lack of basic courtesy and professionalism. Every visit, my parents and I are met with a lack of basic courtesy that immediately sours the experience. As the first point of contact and the gatekeeper to the accountants, her demeanor makes it difficult to even want to walk through the door. It's disappointing because the quality of service beyond the front desk is solid, but customer experience starts the moment you arrive. I've usually had good experiences here, but this last time was a dud. I filed my taxes and waited two weeks for contract from them to pay my fee with no response. I finally called and it turns out that we had slipped through the cracks. Communication was extremely difficult over the phone, in English or Vietnamese. THE WORST PLACE TO HAVE YOUR TAXES PREPARED! BEWARE! This place has the shittiest customer service ever: the CPA's wife (who is the receptionist of this place) is the rudest, most disrespectful, most unprofessional person I have ever met. She especially doesn't give a shit about long-time customers. The way she talks to customers, no matter how old or young they are, is like scolding a little kid when they did something bad, which is so uncivilized and disgusting. Also, she is always in a bad mood and never smiles, and for some reason, always finds an excuse to kick their customers out, which is weird because this place needs customers to file their taxes with them in the first place. I had the worst experience ever and ever for messing up my tax income 2021 files. If anyone went here and paid too much taxes which seems not right. Please go to David Vu Tax and refills an amended IRA C form. They did my tax returns with 4x as total households and my taxes due were over 9k both federal and California State dues. I had multiple ITS mailed letters adjuncts to pay such amounts. I had total genocidal losses and stress due to this business Som the owner and CPA certified time after time deflect and blames my income.and stocks selling was too high for that year. Only did he admitted it was his worker's. Mistakes when David Tax place said it was just an error on Son.s.preparer missing 2 lone items and calculated wrong amount of stock selling etc. I'm find ways to filed complaint with IRA and CA state board on this business when Son himself stated to me it was just a small issues on my looses financially! David refined my 2021 tax form.and I'm getting back money over 2k, not owing any money to both branch of government.! Please others to check to year 2021 and see if anything was missed. Firstly, absolutely the worst customer service in the the entire world. Absolutely terrible and awful! Yen, the "wife of the owner" is extremely unprofessional, rude, and has no sense of customer service. She answers the phone like she just rolled out of bed and we as customers are intruding and bothering her. You realize without customers you have no business right? Please rethink your approach and enact some form of customer service training if you are to continue acting as a receptionist and say you are the owner's wife. It would be better if you remove that part as it does not shed a good perspective for customers. Future customers beware and work with this place at your own risk. They will not answer your questions or return your calls. You are risking your financial well-being and chance of being audited by the IRS by working with this place. They will always send you the bill but will not do anything on time. To the owner, please train your employees to respect and treat customers with care. It does not take a lot to be professional. It takes even less to not be rude and a decent person. Please think about removing your wife from her current position. It's not a good look! When I went there to get my 2019 taxes filed, nobody greeted me or ask me to wait despite me calling ahead of time if it was okay for me to go. The 2 staff there were occupied with 2 other clients but part of customer service is letting the customers know what is going on. I waited for 45 mins or more. Sure I got my taxes done but of course today I received a letter from The Franchise Tax Board of CA stating that my explanation of changes are WRONG. These people who did my taxes have INCORRECTLY calculated my tax return resulting in me OWING the state over $40. So that is on top of the cost this CPA office charged me. Absolutely horrible. All these years of filing my taxes, I have never had anybody calculated it wrong causing me to lose more money. Might as well just use Turbo taxes because at least they will guarantee you they do it correctly. read more

Tax is stressful and relying on a tax preparer that do not value your time and do not handle your personal financial documents in a secure manner, makes the experience worse. There's a laundry list of what's wrong with this business- 1. Customer service is absolutely the worst. You will see first hand yourself. 2. They do not value your time so expect to wait 45 mins to two hours to get time in with Sonny. They do not offer appointments. Imagine waiting in a small/cramped space for that long and multiple times before your taxes get finalized. We've called, text, had conversations to meet and Sonny would be a no-show 3. Mishandling your personal financial records is a huge concern. I've witnessed other people's financial documents with income, social security, address laid all out in front of me during office visits sitting in Sonny's office. 4. Disorganize- Sonny and his team have lost multiple important documents and withhold providing information and records that we are entitled to. Often times, his response is simply because he cannot find it. 5. Son and his teams uses tactics like sandbagging numbers to trigger fear and then when you sit down, he will punch a few keys to drive favorable numbers. This is the hook. 6. We got audit multiple times because of their incorrect input of numbers and data. During audits, Son and his team showed their incompetencies so we finally lost our trust after so many incidents. Sure- he may know how to process tax returns, but many tax preparers/CPA do so find a good one that do not give you this headache. They really need to focus on a business model- quality over quantity. When you try to squeeze in too many clients because you see $$$, your quality deteriorate. First year with his service may be great, but I can assure you that you will get fed up and transition to someone else. The only reason I come here is because I've used their tax services for years. I am a creature of habit and don't like change, hence why I have not moved onto a different accountant or used turbotax to file my taxes. This place is busy and usually always has a wait. I made the mistake of coming on Presidents' Day and waited like 2 hours on a Monday late afternoon. It was terrible, you'd think they'd fully staff on a holiday knowing the volume of clients coming in. Most people who came in had to stand because there's limited seating. Also the lady manning the front desk (sons wife I think) is often either stone faced no emotion or she's nibbling and eating on something. When does this lady never eat? I always see her chew with her mouth open and she doesn't greet guests either. No personality, no smiles. I have never seen someone so unprofessional in my entire life, and I have been to even more shittier establishments. Do you want a proper answer? You will not get one. The receptionist will say "Come back later" with no explanation, and with the rudest attitude ever. You come multiple times throughout the day, call them to come and they will say come, however when you arrive, no proper explanation, only to be asked to leave and come back later. Only Sonny answers questions properly, however the person in the front should be fired for her conduct. I saw her drive away 6-7 customers by saying come back later even without letting them complete their conversation. I don't often write review but this time I make an exception. My husband and I had been coming here for our tax return for quite sometimes now, back when they operated out from their residency. There are some things that I can overlook and keep coming back to his office for the convenience, other part is too lazy to search for another CPA. However, I decided to stop using his service this year due to several reasons. Last year, my company issued W2 correction so I asked Son's office to to amend to our return. Due to Covid, we had to drop off our documents to his office. One of his staff called and asked why we gave them the pack of documents again while they notice that our file just done not long ago. After heard my explanation, the lady staff said will call me once she's done with our file. When she called back, first thing came out was there is not much different to our file, but we will have to pay $50 when we pick up the documents. I asked repeatedly if there is any changes to the amount that we owe the government and she again said no, I can sense her annoyance at my question every time she answered. Her statement at that time wasn't true because 3-4 months later we received a letter from the State asking for our past due taxes, which was the additional amount that we owed from original filing. And just over the weekend, which is 10 months later after we file our taxes, we received another letter for IRS asking for our short payment of our federal owe. This is such a mess because now we have to pay more of penalty, as to the government, we didn't pay in full our taxes from last year, in additional to any amount that we owe this year. Son's office and his staff - service quality had gone downhill, maybe because they have more customers now compared to years ago so they get to choose which customers that they want to service... In additional, I agree with other posts about the lady that answered the phone, her attitude and the way she responded really turn you off. read more

Son was recommended by my sister that he knows a few ways to do away with some of my wash sales, and so I called. The woman picked up the phone and said "hello" as if I disturbed her from her sleep, and went silent. I had to ask if this is the office to do the tax filing, etc. I asked her if they schedule appointment and she said first come first serve, and so we went. We drove 35 miles to a small office and came in. As we came in there was a small booth with glass shield, probably for Covid protection, but it was dark. It didn't seem there was someone there until I had my eyes closer then there was a middle age woman sitting. She didn't even bother to say hello because she was in a conversation with someone arguing how to cook a specific dish. I had to call her out and informed her that I came here to the office to seek for the services and then she gave me a little yellow file folder and said that I need to put all the tax documents into it. I told her we have many documents and this little file won't be enough. She said just stuff them in the folder anyway, and she will sort them out. We have hundreds of pages of documents that we sorted out and put them separately in 2 multi-layer, accordion file organizers and to take them out to stuff into that little file folder would make it difficult to find later, so we told her that but she didn't seem to care. She insisted that we should do as we were told. We would have done as requested if she would explain and tell us in a courteous and professional manner. Instead, she was still on the phone with whoever on the line and told us in a way as if we were there for a free service and that's how they'd do it, and we could choose to leave. I ended up uttering a bad word (văng tục). I don't mean to give an excuse, but I was quite upset. It wasn't directed at her, but she took it as an offense and asked us to leave. I told her that she was rude, not courteous and her customer service was very bad, and left the place. They definitely lost a potential customer. After I read many of the reviews here, I realized that my experience wasn't unique. I don't know how good Son, the CPA is with my tax (I haven't even seen or talked to the guy), and how much I would benefit from his service, but the unprofessionalism of this woman at the reception really turned me away. read more

I gave them my paperwork (no properties and businesses) and wait for almost ten days. Non phone call from them; or any acknowledgment that my paperwork would be filling. I have to call the office at least 6 times, and their front desk kept telling me that I had to wait. Finally, I showed up at the office and wanted to take my paperwork back. Then the front desk said someone was helping me and he was working on it but I had to wait. After waiting 3 hours, my paper work was still there, not be accomplished yet. Unbelievable, after waiting in 10 days, and 3 hours at office, my paperwork has not be finished, no explanation. I decided to took it back to find other service. DO NOT Have This Guy Do Your Tax!!! My wife brought paperwork to this guy for filing our 2016 tax... She came home after 2 hours asking me if I have any other statements that show the "cost basis" for one of the stocks I sold. I don't have a clue what this mean nor what statement would show this... After looking at the paperwork from E*TRADE... I was completely stunt that a "supposedly" certified CPA cannot see what's the cost basis is on the 1099 form. E*TRADE even provides the specifics box number to enter the given values... I asked my wife to take the paper back and not file with guy... as I don't trust that he knows any sh..t! Not sure if I should give a 4 of a 0 if possible, so I'll go with a 2. My mom wanted to check her refund status, so I called the place. The first time we called, the lady was super nice. She gave me detailed instructions on how to check our status online. Then I had some minor problems with filling out the information, so we called back. This time another lady talked to us, I told her we filled out all the information correctly but they wouldn't let me check the status. You know what she said? She said that there's nothing she can do to help us, the instruction is clearly on the website. She didn't even bother checking with me to make sure my mom's information is correct (because there are still chances that there were some mistakes when they were working on my mom's profile, you'll never know). Basically she told us to figure things out ourselves. I don't thing we would need a service if we could "figure things out ourselves". If my mom is fluent in English we would make sure to stay miles away from this place. At least now I know which place not to go to when I start doing taxes.
