Previously I'd gone to whatever ABC store I can find is but most recently tried the Wine Barrell at my father in-law's recommendation. They have a great selection of beers, wines, and liquors/liqueurs, and the shop is conveniently located. The owner is super friendly and greets you when you enter and is there to answer any questions you may have. The shop is clean and well organized. I will definitely be back next time we are in town!

If you are not from around here, here's how the liquor sales work in Alabama. The ABC stores are state run. Anyone else who sells hard liquor must buy it from them. The drawback is that they have limited hours, and are closed on Sundays. You will find other stores that sell hard liquor at later hours and on Sundays: these stores must buy from the ABC stores and resell, and thus will sell at higher prices to make a profit.
