Overpriced fast food. I've never been to a Sonic before and although I've seen their commercials, I've never had the urge to really find how what their food or drinks taste like. With all this tech, I can't believe we still have to speak to someone to order our food. Why can't we simply order on our phones and then the person can skate on over to the car.. So after doin some grocery shopping, D wanted Sonic so we drove by...they have happy hours, deals on certain days and holiday discounts but whatever deal that is on their site might not be available. I wasn't goin to wait for HH.... So L tried their classic hot dog with tots for $2.99 since they wouldn't give us the burger. D ordered a bacon burger, tots and a shake. The guy skated over with a small bag and a shake. Seriously? For $17?? Wtf. Might as well spent that on Shake Shack. We didn't even get the tots, they gave us fries. The hot dog didn't taste good. Definitely wasn't beef, like those cheap mystery meat hot dogs that people should be afraid of. The fries were salty. Ate them cuz we paid for it. I felt nauseous on the ride back home. Lunch was pretty good, banana cream pie milkshake was delicious! Server was very attentive went back inside to get chocolate milk they forgot to put on tray and brought us the extra ketchup we asked for... We ordered a couple of kids meals and the kids enjoyed their lunch but mentioned there were only two chicken strips and they would have liked more... maybe charging a dollar more for an extra one may be a good idea for a hungry child. read more

Tried the new #valleystream location 1. Waited outside for almost 1hr (25 degree weather) and asked for management when everyone that was there when I arrived was gone and all the new people were getting their order. -Management lost the ticket order and since you don't get a receipt so there is no immediate proof without you going into emails/account to prove otherwise. He was asking me what I ordered and he didn't see it. The other workers were like, he been here for a long time, they were saying it's coming but then they were so overwhelmed I was no longer an issue. 2. They got $34 order wrong... -i'm allergic to onions and hate pickles. I ordered it all without, as well as specifics for each of the other 3 meals. It was all wrong once I drove off after finally getting it. 3. Food was made sloppy like it was from White Castles in the worst hood in NYC, i want refund not going back. 4. The workers were complaining about no breaks and how people were getting fired for complaining about the work while entering/exiting the establishment. 5. Management was just as overwhelmed as the workers, it was so unbelievable that I'll be filming it and interviewing workers over the next few weeks. Will make an interesting revelation about the fast food chain that I had a great respect for till then. 6. I immediately went home to the site to discuss my visit and the location which was up for over a month was not even on the site. That should have been marketing job to discuss with IT once the idea that a location would be built or a way to save face and not address issues who knows. So filled out my issue under the Staten Island location and clarified in my issue description... after a few days I didnt hear anything back and called the 800#. The rep (bad attitude was not helpful) said she couldnt find it (conveniently) and after me stating I'm going to record for the company and public to see, she stated the computer system had issues over the weekend so it was lost??? (ummm, i worked with computers and systems and thats unlikely unless their servers incoming/outcoming were damaged and that is a much bigger issue which they didnt face cause the site was up and running). Final... i'd rather eat a hot dog from any stand in NYC then go back, the lines are just insane. I would have been better off paying a few extra bucks and going to Outback Steak House or Olive garden both which are in the vicinity. This is my second visit to Sonics, first in New York. Both experiences were vastly different. My first visit was in North Carolina, that southern service was tremendously slow and the food got me terribly sick. This Sonics in Valley Stream is pretty new. I remembered it when it first opened because the news made a big fuss about it because there's literally zero Sonics to he found in NYC. This Sonics is also right by Green Acres Mall and Advantage Toyota dealership. Great location, not terribly far, but expect heavy traffic on the Van Wyck if you're traveling outside of Valley Stream to get here. I ordered a double bacon cheeseburger and two corndogs during their happy hour between 2pm-4pm. The ordering process was dope. You can by card right there by your window. I'm not use to eating in my own car but it's pretty cool if you set it up right. Definitely ask for extra napkins. First thing you should do is open and spread out a napkin over your lap to catch any dropped sauces or anything falling out from your burger. The server on skates delivered my order pretty fast. The presentation of the double bacon cheeseburger looked great. It almost looked like a burger you see on television commercials. The bun was nice and fluffy, the lettuce, condiments and burger patty looked neatly stacked above each other. The packaging and presentation of the burger itself, I would give it a solid A. As for taste, it was rather bland but in a good way. It's not a very salty burger and there's no house sauce, just mayo. It's not a bad tasting burger but it can use some flair. Also, the overall temperature of the burger could be a little warmer. The cheese didn't taste or look like it's been melted long enough onto the burger patties. In terms of taste, I would say Burger King makes a better burger than Sonics. My order came with a side tatter tots. They were good, nothing crazy. The corn dogs were decent, good for 99 cents. The worse of the bunch was the soft drink. They load your cup with like 120% of crushed ice. You can probably finish your beverage in 3 sips. Verdict - The whole drive in experience is unique to me. My friends and relatives in the south find nothing unique about Sonics but hey we're from NYC, they broadcast Sonics commercials for years without having a actual Sonics in NYC until last year. This is the nearest one to me and I'm glad that it's here. It's a fun experience and it didn't disappoint too much. This location truly needs work! On 3 separate visits things were missing. Likely to happen with food through a drive through. But I have to ask for straws, spoons and napkins with my meals? At times the car hops are skating with headphones. Not only is that a safety issue on their part it is also very unprofessional. The blasts should have brownies or such mixed in the ice cream. Each and every time that was not the case. The food tastes as good as fast food can taste. The way the employees speak to the customers is good. Overall they need to pay closer attention to the way they make each item. Make sure all items including napkins spoons and straws are ready for the customer before arriving at the customer's car. Make sure the headphones are not used while working. I hope in time things improve rather than get worse. read more

Never again! Have you ever wondered what fast food means? Then you need to hear my story. The first parking lot I drove my wife to was not working and there were no signs on it. No orders were taken in the parking lot. It took 10 (!!!) minutes to find out (a waiter riding by on rollerblades told us about it). We re-parked in another spot and placed our order within 5 minutes via app and did check-in. After that, the screen in the parking lot showed us the progress of our order and 10 minutes later stopped showing anything. After waiting another 10 minutes I contacted the operator through the screen and got the answer that the order will soon be ready. There was nothing special in the order - 2 standard meals with cheeseburgers. After another 15 minutes (watch the time: the first park - 10 minutes, placing the order - 5 minutes, after that the waiting time of 35 minutes!!!) I realized that I do not want to stay here again. I went to the manager's office to ask for a refund. The manager said that they are not returning the money for the orders made through an application and spent another 10 (!!!) minutes looking for a phone number to call me about the refund. Moreover, he could not explain why it took so long to prepare the order, although it had been received long ago. In total I spent more than an hour (!!!) in this place. By phone number from the operator took 15 (!!!) minutes to issue me refund. Conclusion: If you want to stay hungry and spend more than an hour - welcome to this place! P.S. Went here on a Friday night, line was super long and it was very crowded. Food took a while to come out, but our order included two blasts, a shake, jalapeño poppers, a coney chili dog, popcorn chicken, and a corn dog. My malted brownie mini blast was okay, it was a bit thin and there were exactly three brownie pieces... not so exciting. The jalapeño poppers were very good with ranch, and the popcorn chicken was average. The chili dog was too salty and the corn dogs batter was nothing special, it needed to be sweeter. The brownie and cookie dough blast had an overwhelming cookie dough taste, so it was better than the brownie but still not great. I would say it's not worth the wait, the one in North Babylon gave me a much better experience and I loved the thick, colder sonic blast I got there. read more

Around 5pm on a rainy spring Saturday, this place is paccckkkked! I did a little shopping at the mall and decided to swing by after 7pm and there wasn't a wait, however, I got the last stop in the carhop section and the drive-thru also was moving. In order to help the congestion, they have employees to direct traffic. Yes, its THAT busy. Welcome to NY, we have traffic everywhere including sonics lol. It's next to a mall, it's still relatively new, and there isn't another location for miles. it's kind of expected. It does kind of take away from the experience though. This is the first sonics that I've been to and have seen them actually use rollerskates which is pretty cool. The service is pretty great. They are friendly, fast and efficient. There were no issues during my visit. As cheesy as it is for them to say "Have a supersonic day!" I'm glad they say it, it shows commitment. As far is the food. It's okay, just like any other Sonics. I like the variety. I've never had anything bad. All in all, I like it. It's nice to have one close by. read more

Sonics has a variety of fast food. They have a retro flair with employees on skates that deliver your food to your vehicle. Their footlong Coney is to die for. Their mega variety of shakes are fun and delicious. They have an Oreo waffle cone that will make diabetics forget about monitoring their sugar for the day. Service here is the pits. It's almost as if the workers here don't understand the concept of Sonic. I parked, waiting for a waiter for almost 15 minutes, but nobody came. Instead, they just serviced the drive through window (and did so poorly to boot). While I was waiting in line to order (then get my food), the people inside looked like they were having a party. Someone from corporate should visit this location and remind them what Sonic is supposed to be. While I did get my food in the end, it was just ok. Not great. My first experience at Sonic, anywhere. Welcome to the American dream. The little, subpar exercise that americans get, which is walking to and from their car, has been finally eliminated. I thought that there was possibly a place inside to eat, but I guess this isn't their thing. There is an outdoor seating area though. I ordered the philly cheesesteak in a burrito wrap instead of the bun, and guess what, it came in a bun. It was promptly fixed though, so can't really complain. Once taken out of the bun, you realize that it's really not that much meat. The sandwich was pretty good, but the meat pieces were a bit dry / tough. Still decent. The chicken fingers were tasty, I enjoyed them, and the sauces were standard tasting, nothing creative or to write home about. Enjoyable. The tater tots were bland. Even the tater tots that I was served for high school lunch had more flavor, in all honesty. Overall, an interesting experience, but for my philly cheesesteak (on the small side) and 5 piece chicken fingers and tater tots it came to almost $15 with tax. Then when you pick up the food at the window, the order is wrong. It takes another 50 years to get it right. My friend order fries and gets a nice piece of hair mixed in the fries. Ahhhh, finally the place with the commercials of two mildly funny guys sitting in a car comes to the Nassau County/eastern Queens area. Like anyone who lives between Deer Park and New Jersey, I've been anticipating the opening of this Sonic Drive-In ever since word broke out You drive up (or go to the walk up) to one of the many stalls with the big, lit up menus and take a moment as you browse their many options. Once ready, press the big red button (except you, Mr. Trump), and a helpful voice somewhere on the other side assists with taking your order. You can pay with your card right there on the screen, with the mobile app, or once the "carhop" comes out with your food, but PLEASE do not overwhelm them as they are on roller skates & it's clear that some of them just learned during orientation. This particular location is currently suffering from the massive crowds, but I don't expect that to be the norm in another 6 weeks or so. The Drive-In line was long AF, so I parked and walked up instead. The line was shorter, but it still took about 15 minutes to be helped. Once the order was placed, it took about another 15-20 minutes to come out. I'd say that's not too bad considering the amount of people that were in line, the new staff, general growing pains, and the inevitable attitudes they must be receiving on a rotating basis. That said, the food came out good. It's a step up from a McChicken and they've mastered the art of 'tater tots. The cheddar sticks were a bit on the salty side though and I'm pretty determined to try all of their slushes (1 down... 92 more to go). They have someone that comes out with a tray of different condiments to the walk-up area... Not sure if that's because of the crowd or that's the norm. I only removed a star because a handful of staff weren't actually on skates and I thought that was their thing. And also because of general cleanliness where people would be "dining." Then he offered to take my order out (which he never did) but my order was still messed up. Waited another 5 minutes to get the correct sauce (singular even though I had a family size). Once again the employees excuse was he had other customers.... I wouldn't have been in that situation had someone done their job correctly 30 minutes ago. I wanted a refund from corporate but since the idiot who took out my order didn't provide me with a recite they couldn't process it. This is the worst experience I've had at any food place. Sonic is so awesome!! Their milkshakes are so good. I usually get the Oreo one which is delicious. They also have pretty good meals, like wings and fries. You can't go wrong with sonic. But this is the worse 40 bucks I spent in my life. The food is totally disgusting. The chicken is over cooked and rubbery. And it was brown as if they weren't fresh and had been on the roller all WEEK. In addition it smelt sour and just was overall disgusting. Now why would you think that's okay to sell to someone. DUMB! A FORK!!!! I continually order the chili cheese tots and only once out of the last 3 times did I actually get one. The two times, I asked the server as they are rolling off is there a fork. One occasion, yes on the side. I said no. He checked, " Oh, they forgot". Came back 5 minutes later. This last time. Same question: Fork??. Response, "On the side, as they quickly roll away". Press the red button. Can I help you? Need a fork, none for tots. Ok, was the response. 7-8 minutes pass. Press red button again, flashes then goes off. Hmmm, press the red button again. Flashes and then goes off. Someone is turning off the alert inside. Press and hold the button this time. Finally get a response, " Can I help you". STILL WAITING ON A FORK!!!!! Now, about 15 minutes have past and servers are flying all over the place. Finally, a seemingly pissed off worker walks over and delivers 2 forks. UNBELIEVABLE!!! Another issue is the All-American hotdog(diced onions)and the New Yorker(sauted onions). Always order the NewYorker. 2 out of 4 times, I have received the All-American. This new Sonic Drive-In is awesome! The lines are pretty long but the food comes out quickly. The staff has a quite efficient workflow and display nothing short of excellent customer service. The carhops are so adorable on their skates, I love it! Don't leave without trying the tots; they have the perfect crisp and the drink combos are endless! I mean come on, where else do they serve Jolly Ranchers in a drink??! NOWHERE! My current favorite is the strawberry cherry limeade. I'll definitely switch up once it gets hot out...Super Excited! read more

Sonic finally opens in valley stream. I told myself that I would give it at least a month before I got anywhere near the place (after seeing the traffic caused when sonic opened in suffolk) I decided to drive close and see if the walk up ordering line was long. It wasn't! Only about 6-8 people on line! I thought I would be in and out with some delicious treats...I was wrong. Sonic only had one walk up ordering machine open (the other side was closed) so that severely slowed down the line. Wouldn't have been too bad if they had the heat lamps turned on, because it was getting pretty cold out there. Waiting about an hour to order...not one employee or manager came to check on us...no free samples (it is the grand opening after all!) Luckily once we ordered, the food came out pretty fast and correct (as did other people that ordered in front of us) the milk shakes and master blasts were soooo good. Mozzarella sticks are very good as well. Don't forget about the ched-r peppers! They are a must order! If you are looking for burgerfi, 5 guys or gourmet level burgers...you're not going to find it here. If you are looking for a step up from McDonald's and burger king...then you are in luck. This food isnt to die for, but its a nice change of pace from whats currently available in the area. Also, they have much better appetizers and desserts. The drink options are ridiculous as well...it would probably take a few months to go through every variety if I ordered one a day. All in all, is a pretty good chain to check out once the grand opening traffic is gone. Give It about a month. read more

Okay I'm going to leave this review with a "curve" because I went on the opening day. I'll start with the line to get to the drive in stall, thankfully there were people helping to direct the cars, the line was over 30 minutes ( that's all I'll say about that). Once in the stall there is a large screen with all of the options you can order, once you know what you want you press the red button, after pressing the button there is a prompt on the bottom of the screen telling you someone will help you shortly...... After a few minutes the prompt would leave the screen and you have to press the red button again, get the prompt and again wait for someone to take your order, well I pressed the red button several times and waited over 20 minutes to get my order taken; while waiting I spoke the employees (because I thought maybe the stall was broke) I was told that there is only 3 screens to manage all of the stalls, so I would have to wait and to re-press the red button if no one takes my order, finally my order was taken and after 15 or so minutes the food arrived. The food was good, no issue there, but a few notes.... I don't think the servers should be in skates if they don't know how to skate, you need more monitors for the stall orders. I'll go back to see if they gotten a better handle on the crowd. read more

Not the best. I ordered a few times from this location. I once ordered a cheeseburger which was cold as if it was just sitting out for a while, the fries weren't that hot, just nearly warm. Another time I went and ordered some tots and mozzarella sticks with a hotdog, that wasn't too bad the food actually tasted as if it was cooked fresh (even though all fast food is frozen, unless stated otherwise). Last time I went I got a small blueberry slushie, honestly very sweet but, if I go back to the location, I would only order a slushie. Beware as the staff are teenagers but, has a very bad attitude as they don't seem like they want to deliver your meal if you choose to park in and the person on the com doesn't sound go happy to take your order. read more

Liking the variety available, was excited as I pass it nearly everyday seeing it built and thought wow how 1950s style with the old time drive in set up! I like the set up, only the turn out in the drive thru is a little confusing. They do have outdoor attendants assisting if you want drive in or drive thru. The skaters were lovely and did both drive thru and drive in. Only gripe is the long lines. Love the many varieties of drinks that I feel like Carmen Sandiego deciding what to get. read more

Came here to get a quick meal with my bro. My Buffalo wings was almost like Buffalo Wing Soup the entire bowl was filled with buffalo sauce with the boneless wings swimming in the "pool". My brother sandwich sucked, bacon over cooked and the beef was barley cooked. They also forgot my brothers fries. Staff barley cared, usually gave cold shoulder. Sadly we had to go to the nearest McDonald's to get a simple burger that was actually cooked and tasted good (and at least the meal came with the fries). I would reconsider coming here until the cooks in the kitchen can understand it's training.
