I finally found my go to salon and my go to girl after years of searching! I've been coming to Sonique for probably over two years and it's always a pleasant time. Cassandra is my go to girl. She does WONDERS with colour. I'm always satisfied after a visit with Cassandra. She is always so friendly and talkative, it's like we've been friends forever lol. In fact, EVERYONE at the salon is very friendly. They are always so welcoming. You just feel really comfortable at the salon. They always offer you tea, water or coffee. I'm really glad all the other reviews on here are so positive because I agree 100%! Anyone that I have ever suggested to come here have also become regular customers. read more

Jade Jade Jade, sweet young stylist that make my hair into exactly what I asked her for! I live on Vancouver and was in Toronto for business and was in desperate need for a cut. Being in the industrial city of Brampton, I did not imagine a highly qualified salon as such a few blocks away from where I was doing business. I read a few reviews on Yelp and gave a call. I let them know I am from out of town, very particular with my hair, and looking to perfect my graduates bob. The lovely front desk lady let me know Jade is the stylist or me and booked me in. Well, my experience was great and I will be sure to get more cuts as I visit Brampton for work. Thank you Jade for the fab cut, great attitude, and wholesome and great customer service! So I tried this place based on its reviews and the amazing photos of the hair, as I'm very fussy with my hair and haven't been happy with it in a long time.. we were sorry we didn't take a before picture, but my colour had gotten very Blocky and separated and brassy .. Michelle was my stylist for the evening and I'm so glad she was, she was so lovely and did such an amazing job on my hair. She is the only one in a long time that listened to what I wanted done with my hair, and did it right! And my hairs not easy I have a thick head of hair.. but she's a talented girl and great with colour and we toned down the colour to match my natural colour underneath a little more, she gave it a glaze for me, a trim off the ends and even stayed a little over her shift to finish my hair! As the other reviews suggest, if you use debit, maybe bring cash to tip the girls. They more than deserve it! I stupidly didn't have much on me but I have pre-booked my next appointment so I'll be making sure to tip the next time! All the girls are amazing, friendly, and so professional for somewhere out of the city.. they provide such a good service! Couldn't recommend them enough! And highly recommend Michelle she is a gem! I also bought the purple shampoo to treat my blonde so my total was somewhere over $200 I forget the exact amount, (there's a breakdown on the receipt) which I found expensive but they did a great job! If I could give Sonique more stars I would. Not only did they go above and beyond my expectations, but they made both my mother and I feel pampered and comfortable the whole day. The atmosphere is very calm and cheery, even with all the loud hair dyers. I was there for 6 hours getting a huge job done. I got Goldwell Elumen colours put in my hair along with an amazing cut by Michelle. My mother got her hair done by Cassandra and she did a wonderful job. The whole staff is so friendly and helpful as well as super knowledgeable about how to take care of your hair. I would recommend this place a million times over to anyone. I don't know what that M.T. person is talking about. Chances are, she's one of those "bride-zillas" who freaks out if someone slurps their tea too loudly. Don't take her review too seriously. This salon is as good as they come! Reading reviews like M.T.'s really break my heart. Not only did I have Sonique do the hair for my bridesmaids, but my mom and mother in law got their hair done there too. My hair looked spectacular when I left the salon, thanks to Ivana!The staff were courteous, professional and exceptionally talented. I highly recommend this salon for weddings! On a non-wedding level, I have been seeing Maja for the better part of 8 years. I moved to BC 6 years ago and I still cannot find anyone in BC I trust the same as Maja. When I make my trip back to Brampton to see my family, the line of phone calls goes something like this: 1. Call airline to book flight 2. Call Maja at Sonique 3. Call my mom & dad Maja... wow... I don't even have the words to explain how crazy I am about this woman! She is beyond talented! If I could clone her, I would. Joanne & Nancy (owners), Ivana, Ashley, Roger, Maja and Jenna are the BEST! These people work their butts off to make sure you look your best. Oh, and their receptionist has the nicest voice and is always cheerful! In too many salons, there are super bitchy 18 year old girls who stare and judge you if you're not "fashionable" or you're overweight or you drive a '93 Civic... Susan keeps it real, is personable and kind, and gives the salon a very warm feeling. If I could give this salon 6 stars, I would. The ONLY improvement I would recommend is that they need to get their website up! A Facebook page is a great start but these days, EVERY BUSINESS needs a professionally run, full website with bios, pictures, culture and chicness. read more

I feel so happy and satisfied, the first time i went they did a hair consoltaion and did lengthy trim just so I could try it out, and they made my hair look amazing. 3 months later I have Nicole and I asked if she could cut it short but short enough to still curl it. And she did an amazing job, she was able to multi-task talk about a lot of things and still made my hair look awesome. I came here for some hair 911 and was quite pleased with the results. The cut wash and style were perfect and I really liked it. When I called to book, the terrific lady took time with me to find out what I wanted, who I was etc etc and I really liked that - to better match me with a stylist. The only problem was..... the lady I was matched with was not the lady I ended up having the appointment with (due to my scheduling difference). The young woman who was my stylist was great. No fault in her technique or her work. However her constant stream of chatter about her boyfriends and them all chasing her etc etc got very tired very quickly and I glazed over with a fake smile. I did try to change the subject many times but to no avail. It made for an uncomfortable time and I couldn't wait to get out of her chair. Even though the cut was great and the work she did was great; personality wise we didn't match. I will go back however and I hope I can see a different stylist as I did like the overall vibe of this place. Hope this doesn't sound like I'm too high .maintenance! read more

I loved it here! I had a bad hair cut that left me terrified of salons, when i stepped into sonique i immediately felt a positive atmosphere. I had got Michelle as my stylist not only does she listen but she is truly a friendly person and is who i consider my new hair stylist. She listened to what i wanted and i ended up being in love with my new hair. Absolutely no doubt that i will be coming back for my next haircut, i recommend this salon to everyone. I was looking for a new salon after my stylist left the salon I usually went to. I called and made an appointment and was impressed that they asked what kind of hair I had and what kind of cut I was looking for. It put me at ease thinking that they really understood their clients needs. I couldn't have been more wrong. Sarah was the stylist they put me with. I had an easier time telling the receptionist what I was looking for when I made the appointment than I did when I was explaining to Sarah. I have a lot of wavy hair that will stay straight if not blended, texturized and cut properly and I tried to explain to Sarah how I like it cut to achieve maximum results when my hair is air dried. She just did not grasp what I was trying to say. I even showed her a curl/wave on her hair that my hair can achieve if cut and blended properly and she simply dismissed me by saying that was done with a curling iron. I ended up walking out of there with the worst haircut I've had in a very long time and am now waiting for it to grow a bit so I can have it fixed by a skilled stylist. I definitely would not recommend Sarah, not sure about other stylists at the salon but I won't be going back to find out. read more

I've been getting my hair done at Sonique for around five years. Prior to finding this place, I had never been completely satisfied with a haircut. The service and knowledge they offer is what one might expect from a downtown salon (not in Brampton, at least :P). They keep up to date with latest trends and techniques. I had my hair "ombre'd" and cut last month. The cut (done by Joanne) is fantastic and exactly what I asked for (keep the length, a bit more volume, long layers, etc.), and super easy to maintain. The colour/lightening was subtly done and has gained me lots of compliments. It's clear that the stylists at Sonique are well-trained and capable. While not the most inexpensive place to get your hair done in Brampton, the cuts I've had usually last for 4-5 months without losing shape/growing out. Depending on the stylist, a wash/cut is around $35-50. read more

Quality of the services is up to par with any good salon you'd find at square one or bramelea centre. Enjoying my haircut even after few weeks, it couldn't have been a job more thoroughly done. I was helped by Michelle , who I believe is a junior stylist and she spent a good 1.5 hrs washing, conditioning, layering, blow drying and styling my hair. The services were affordable and reasonable for what they were (I paid ~$35). Definitely going to be a regular customer now! read more

I have been to this place twice now, I needed a salon since I moved to Brampton and they do a really good job. Sarah is who I was placed with, and she does partial ombre highlights and a cut for me when I go. I find it to be a little bit expensive, but she does a great job so it's worth it. For a cut a partial highlights its usually 160$ Side note there is no tip option when you use debit, so if you want to tip you need to bring cash. I forgot last time and the Receptionist was really nice and said not to worry as I felt badly. read more

This is only my 2nd review ever in over two years, that's how happy i was. I am typically extremely nervous going to a new hair salon. i've had places with great, wonderful reviews just wreck my head and i recently moved too far away to justify continuing to see my incredibly hard to make an appointment with former stylist. I'm very picky and i'm usually rather anxious finding somebody new. Jennifer did a fantastic job though! She listened to what i wanted and made (good) suggestions of her own and did just as we discussed. My last three haircuts have been the best i've ever had. From the first call, I was impressed with the service. Nicole did my cut and colour, and not only did I love the final result, I had a great time. She has an amazing personality, and I appreciated that she listened to my wants and concerns (hair damage from going lighter) and explained everything she was doing and double checked throughout the process that my hair remained healthy :) I absolutely will be returning to her for my next visit! Relatively new to Brampton I checked Yelp for a salon and found Sonique. When I called to make an appointment I was booked with Joanne. In reading reviews about that salon I knew going in that she was one of the owners. Upon arriving I was promptly attended to and seated for consultation. I thought that perhaps I was initially booked with the owner to make a good impression on new clientele but it was not quite the case. Joanne needed a lot of direction in creating the colour I was looking for. Results were poor and perhaps expectations were not managed properly. Joanne did not appear to know her product lines and relied on tools such at swatch books and marketing decision wheels to discuss products. I was happy with my cut eventually but my input was still required. She would have left me with a mullet if I didn't have my say. After my colour was washed out I was left to sit and wait for another 15 minutes while she socialized with staff, clients and her children. Her point of contact was ill focused as she was easily distracted. Nail in the coffin for me was the $152.00 bill after 3 hours to have my hair processed with a bottle application, for a slight colour change and a cut that had the potential to be a nightmare. The kicker, after I was all paid up I was told I could have seen a junior stylist (cheaper) and if I give them referrals they and I will get 20% off. All said, the other staff was excellent! Professional, very hard working (Nicole), and even applied better techniques like using a tint brush and perm papers to stop dripping. Feeling ripped off.... read more

Amazing place! Cut my hair really short back in January at another salon, just hated it.. However I came here today and got exactly what I wanted the first time I cut my hair.... Just got back from a cut from Ivana and she is amazing! She sat me down beforehand and made sure she knew exactly what I wanted, and while she was cutting she explained every step to me and made sure I was okay with everything throughout the whole cut. I started with Michelle. Colour was great but cut was not! I had just finished telling Michelle that I was running from a lot of stylists who were so busy talking over me they didn't listen and my hair always ended up really, really short and bobbed which I hate the look of on me. She was a junior stylist and went to ask the owner, Joann a question about my hair texture. This very aggressive woman came running over to me and before I knew it, she had pinking shears in her hand and randomly started chopping at my hair. It happened so fast, I didn't have time to stop her. What a mess. I had to start all over again growing it longer. I went a couple more times and just found trying to explain to Michelle what I wanted was impossible for her to grasp even accusing me several times, that I was asking for a mullet even after I kept showing her photos. I finally asked her if she even knew what a mullet was. I tried another stylist after that and saw her a few times but she took offence and snapped at me when I was trying to explain to her the look I was trying to achieve telling me, "I know what I'm doing". I haven't lived in Brampton long so I have been in search of the right 'salon' . I am quite picky about my haircuts. The stylists at Sonique seem professional and pleasant. I've had 3 different stylists do my hair at Sonique so far and have been happy with each one. I'm not one to really plan ahead for my cuts, I feel I need to be in the mood otherwise I would likely have stuck with the first stylist I had and made an appointment ahead of time rather than just popping in and grabbing whoever is free to cut my hair. The prices at Sonique are very reasonable compared to other salons that are in BCC (Bramalea City Center). Every time I've gone here I've gotten a very good haircut that seems to last at least a couple months. They do just as good of a job as salon Donato in Sq.1 or Yorkdale which charge about twice as much. I do not often leave reviews because it takes alot to impress me so Kudos to this team of professionals. read more

VERY disappointed. Polite does not make up for incompetence. I brought my 5 year old for a much needed hair cut because our regular stylist was away on holiday. It started off well, the stylist asked me what I was looking for and I described a trim up to just under her shoulder blades, making sure it's long enough to put into a pony tail when she plays. It was almost down to her hips at that point. She said she understood, no problem. Don't get me wrong, she was really nice and we chatted... but then I noticed how short she started to cut it. When I pointed it out and said it was shorter than I asked, she just looked at me blankly. I was not impressed. Obviously there was nothing she could do but continue chopping my daughters hair off. Completely ruined her hair and now it's even more difficult to manage than when it was longer. I shouldn't have even paid for the haircut in my opinion, but I certainly didn't tip. And I would not recommend this place at all. Smiles are not substitutes for skill. read more

Sonique Hair Salon was probably the worst salon I've ever been to. I decided to go to Sonique for my wedding day with my wedding party. The hair stylist I had (Ashly) was very rude and seemed very irritated and impatient. She would sigh and slightly roll her eyes if I asked her to do something she didn't want to. Not to mention she had no interest for small talk or being friendly. She was not easy to work with and gave me unnecessary stress on my wedding day. My bridesmaids said that their experiences were similar. Some of their hair stylists were speaking in another language in front of them, giving them the feeling they were being talked about. Also, once were were ready to check out, they made mistakes on everyones bills. I realized afterwards that they overcharged me by about $30. Once we got back home, one of the bridesmaids updos was starting to fall out. We had to re-pin it before the wedding. I was NOT happy with my experience here and I would NEVER recommend this place to anyone!!! read more
