I do not recommend this place . They charged me $250 for partial babylights of my root area that took 40 mins it was bleeding in areas and they were chunky and looked horrible and unnatural . Not what I wanted. Alexa did the work. Very Nice girl , but sloppy job. I was in town for a short while and desperately needed a haircut and found Framar online which was reasonably close by and seemed great. I really wanted to like this place but they failed me on the cut. :( First off, in terms of taking precautions for COVID, this place was fantastic. They sent me detailed information on what to expect and their safety protocols. I avoided getting a haircut because of COVID but this place definitely made me feel comfortable and safe. I made a last minute appointment so there were only Creative Directors available to cut my hair. Despite the high cost I agreed to it because I figured it would be worth it and so the receptionist booked me in with Daniel. I actually hadn't cut my hair in over a year and decided to donate 10+" (my second time doing this, so I knew the process). The salon was also pretty well versed and suggested I bring a ziplock bag with me to store the hair after it's cut. Everything went super smoothly which is why I feel terrible to even write a bad review. I really enjoyed the conversations I had with Daniel but that's where he may have gotten ahead of himself. He told me that as a Creative Director, it's up to him to understand what the client wants through the conversations. So there was obviously a disconnect because the cut he gave me was NOT what I wanted. I have South Asian curly/wavy somewhat thick hair. And for the last 2 decades, my hair has always been cut in layers. But Daniel for some reason didn't pay attention to that and gave me a shoulder length blunt cut. That said, the length I have no problem with because it's going to a very deserving cause, but a blunt cut? Why would any skilled Creative Director think I wanted a blunt cut with my thick, curly bottom-heavy hair? Layers is really the only solution, unless he expected me to want to pin straighten my hair everyday. While he was blow drying my hair was actually when I realized he gave me a blunt cut, at the time I thought maybe he was blow drying it to then dry cut it (which I've had done before and is very common with curly hair) but no. His next client arrived and was waiting in the seat next to me and I just didn't want to stick around any longer, I thought it might look better after I washed it myself and let it air dry, but no. I also didn't have time to go back to see if he would "fix" it. Anyway, I gave myself 2 months to see if the cut would possibly grow on me, nope, still hate it. So I had to share my experience and disappointment. As much as I like Daniel as a person, it doesn't seem like he knows hair as well as he thinks he does. read more

I waited to post this to see if I could do anything with this haircut, it's been two weeks ... It started with arriving at the salon to find out the appointment had not been booked and the hairdresser was not present that day, I should have run then... After almost eight months without a haircut and losing my job in the fall, I was looking for something to make me feel and look a bit better! My hair was longer than usual ( always have short hair ) I was looking for something different. Showed a few pictures of what I was looking for, so no room for interpretation, needless to say, it did not happen. The haircut looks horrible. I left the salon with a haircut not remotely close to what I requested. I shouldn't complain it's only hair it grows back! But still... I needed my black box dyed hair colour taken out and wanted something lighter. I had Alexa take very good care of me and successfully get it out. She then dyed my hair a nice warm brown and curled it beautifully. Some parts of my hair are a little lighter/darker than other parts but she had made sure to mention it to me before proceeding. I have been going to this salon for about 2 years, though not consistently (have had man's haircut there about 8 times). The salon itself is very beautiful, clean and modern which gives a professional picture to it. The staff are good and kind. They have provided me high-quality service, although sometimes not as good as the other times (a little below my expectations of them), but some other times (like today), they were much better than I thought and made me really happy. The only disadvantage of the salon would be it's high-price (which is a normal thing for all professional salons - yet made it expensive for customers). UPDATE: I forget to mention one of their best services: the hair wash before each haircut which is accompanied by head massage... just amazing (Jordan gave me the best massage I ever had...you rock lady) The stylists: I had a some haircuts with Tiffany, and she was great Once I had a haircut with Stephanie (as I mistakenly thought she is Tiffany when booking the appointment!), And she was...meh...just okay...if not bad. Today Richard had cut my hairs and I think he did a great job. I came here for a cut and colour. The front desk woman was super friendly/attentive. Also, she has awesome hair. Stephanie was my stylist and she was great. She answered all of my questions and was very pleasant. Unlike another reviewer, I actually liked that we didn't talk the entire time. It's nice to zone out and play on your phone while someone is working away on your hair. I took off one star for two reasons. 1) During the hairwashing process, I was presented with which colours I wanted (from a big book). It was super uncomfortable to raise my head halfway during this, while someone else was washing my hair. I actually had a sore neck the next day from straining it. 2) The chair where you get your hair washed and the chair where you sit while your hair is being coloured are not comfortable. Defs recommend they invest in some cushions or longer chairs so your legs can stretch out more. I will definitely be coming back because my hair looks amazing and this place was awesome. It was my first visit to Framar Salon, as my hairdresser if 8 years has decided to move elsewhere and i'm now on the hunt for a good salon to stick around with. They accommodated me without an appointment in advance, so that's definitely a plus considering how busy they are, but it was the first week of 'back to school' so things weren't as busy..so an appointment is always recommended. The hostess girl/receptionist (i didn't catch her name) is a top professional service rep, who make you feel very welcomed and ask the right questions to assign you to the right hairdresser. So far so good! And then comes my hairdresser who was free at that time, Tiffany, she is probably great at what she does with other clients, but my hair job wasn't that good at all, at least not to my standards. I also told her and recommended few things, but was told that she thinks this would look better on me, after few times of her insisting, I went with her way.. Let me just say that I can't wait till my next haircut! It could be an off day for her, all other clients seemed enjoying their time, sipping coffee and what not, not on my chair though!! Too bad, I loved the place, the ambiance, the welcoming reception and staff, but Tiffany was the con among all of this. I went in a couple of days ago to get my hair colored and cut. I asked for a dirty blonde light brown look and i ended up walking out with red hair. The lighting in the place deceived me i thought it was brown but then against natural sunlight and other light it looked pure red. On top of that my scalp was burnt, the second the applied the mix it started burning me and the roots are 10x brighter than the ends. After color i wanted to trim my hair so I asked for a trim and layering she ended taking off more than I asked for. Essentially in my parents backyard I am so disappointed it took me up until now, on the brink of 2013, to finally try them out. DÉCOR/AMBIENCE: Clean, open concept, high ceiling, spacious and bright. PRICE LIST DESIGN/READABILITY: Clear and concise. QUALITY: Some people can cut hair, and some people can not...Richard Papa was born to cut hair. Very personable and extremely talented, he made my hair cut experience an exceptional one. From the head massage, to the hair cut to the shave and style, it was all extremely professional and extremely well done. You can tell he has been perfecting this craft for a very long time, he certainly deserves his own salon. I will do my very best to get my hair cut from Richard going forward (his days off are Sun & Tues). PRICE POINT: A hair cut with him (senior stylist) costs $36.00 which I am quite pleased to pay considering downtown Toronto a decent men's hair cut starts at $40-50. I'm less than thrilled about my experience here. The prices are great - listed on the website and include the price of a blowout. I went to Richard based on his great reviews. I wanted no more than 1.5 inches cut off of my hair because although it was dead I had two events to attend to the following week and did not want a dramatic change. I specified this when speak with him. He ended up cutting close to double what I asked and I don't feel like myself. WARNING - NEVER get your hair chemically straightened from here. I had my hair burned off in three different areas. I went back and expressed that my hair felt bald. They took a look and said it was "just how my roots were growing in". I didn't know what to believe so they washed my hair and I left. Two months later I was noticing that- A)My hair was already becoming curly (treatment should last up to 6 months) B) My hair was growing back, because it was indeed, BURNED OFF. I had been coming to Framar Salon for three years and always had the best cut and straightening treatment from Diana. However when she left, it was all down hill. I had my first Framar Salon experience about 3 months ago and my hair still looks healthy even as its grown out and taken 12 weeks of abuse from sun and travelling in Australia. My hair is difficult to cut because it is long, fine, and curly, but Christina did an unbelievable job cutting my hair in a style that was both flattering for my specific hair type and easy to maintain with minimal heat or product. I will definitely return to Framar for my next hair cut, and would be interested to see how they are with colouring as well. read more

My first time at Framar, as I was desperately in need of a hair cut. My usual salon was not open so walked in to Framar and was able to get appointment next morning with Tiffany. My good fortune, as Tiffany was amazing. Very precise, lots of attention to detail and I was able to get a cut that I absolutely love and is easy for me to maintain. Tiffany asked the right amount of questions before we began, that gave me a lot of confidence in her. Great job, Tiffany. I will be back. LOVE this place! As a fiend for the Aveda line of products, I'm happy that I can stop by a salon quite close to home and pick up the products I need, instead of having to travel downtown or to the Promenade. I have done wash/cut/blowdry at Framar before and it's amazing how well they maintain the shape of my hair while only trimming off the split ends. read more

They were able to take me immediately and Ronen ended up cutting my hair and I thought he did a great job. Got my hair cut here with Stephanie. It was clean, very large and professional. She was open to constructive criticism and listened to concerns (didn't like how one piece was a bit longer than the bother side during cut) I was offered a beverage when I got there (which I declined, so I can't speak about how that was). The staff chat with you and are friendly. They do a wonderful head massage during the wash. I was overall happy with the salon and would recommend it to others. read more

I have been going to Framar for over 2 years and my experiences have had mixed feelings. The service at the front desk has always been pleasent but depending on the stylist you have, your experience can be really good or really bad. I have gone to two stylists, Christina and Stephanie. I would 100% reccomend going to Christina. She is inviting, kind and overall an amazing stylist. She gave me balyage a year ago and to this day people looked back and ask me who I went to, to get it done. On the other hand, Stephanie, I have gone to her for my birthday hair and for my Prom hair and she absolutely ruined my nights. Firstly, when you are sitting the her chair, she makes you feel like you are lesser than her. As well as not engage in conversation. Leaving the client in an awkward silence for the entire appointment. For my birthday, I asked for tight curls that will losen over the course of the night, as soon as I got home from my appointment, they looked like I had slept on them. At the end of the night, my hair was completly flat. For my Prom, I had asked for old hollywood glam and she gave me a head full of hairspray and one huge curl covering the side of my head. I even showed her a picture! Overall, I would recommend the salon, but I would say to not ask for Stephanie. read more

Wasted $300+ and 3 months to get the hair I asked for. I came in with natural medium brown to bleached dirty blonde ombre with a brassy transition in the middle. I lamented about the brassy middle and showed my hairdresser pictures of two styles I was aiming for- a medium brown to dirty rose gold balayage and a medium brown to a beige-y light brown balayage. I said I wanted it to blend better with my natural brown hair that I was growing out than the current dirty blonde that had been resisting light brown box dyes. She explained to me dismissively and abruptly that rose gold fades too fast and she has a better idea. Her idea was to bleach over my dirty blonde (that I specifically said I was trying to darken to blend better) and pull the streaks up through the brassy mid-section without even so much as offering to tone it (I would have even paid a bit extra). Although it wasn't what I had asked for, I initially liked the result because she curled it. When the curls went away, I noticed how my hair was still a brassy ombre, just with more streaks and a brighter blonde. Clearly the curls had been chosen to hide how much it didn't "blend more naturally" which were the words I used in my request. I've now had to gradually re-darken the streaks to what I asked for (a light brown shade) without damaging them further from the unnecessary bleaching. On top of the gross price tag I paid for the mediocre amount of effort I received (simple bleach streaks and cutting of dead ends; $260 for something I could have gotten my mother to do for a $20 bleach kit from Sally's), I can confidently say that not only will I never ever be back to Framar, I'll probably go back to just doing my hair with box and Sally's dyes because "pampering" myself with a professional is too risky. The price for the SAME haircut varies whether you are male or female. That is not what Canada stands for. I had the pleasure of getting a fabulous hair cut from Christina. She heard all my concerns regarding other stylist at others salons going scissor happy on long hair. She style cut my hair perfectly and maintained the perfect amount of conversation while doing so. After the cut she made sure I was happy with every flick of her wrist as she style it to perfection. I'm writing this review a few days after my haircut so I still could try to get used to it, but I still feel very duped. The stylist I had went too light on me - even though she insisted it looked more "natural", which is what I had requested; I look like a redhead clown NOT a brunette with a conservative office job. She kept using technical terms, even though I had no idea what she meant half the time; clients are not supposed to be experts and she should have been respectful of that. She also ragged on how much hair I had (umm thanks) and the fact I had used boxed colour before; stylists need to stop doing that because not every client has the time, money, or inclination to always get it done at the salon. Respecting clients' lifestyles, choices, and lifestyles would make you look much more credible. Haircut itself was great... but I don't think the bill was worth it overall. I may now have to do a boxed colour within the next few days to get rid of the redhead look after spending all that money. Seriously disappointed. read more

Came to this salon yesterday after reading all the good reviews, so I decided to make an appointment. I booked with the so called "amazing"Richard Papa after reading many good reviews about him. I get there and I begin to show him pictures and explain what I want, I was very specific and he seemed confident he could do the job. Now I have really bad eye vision and I wear glasses, but when I get a haircut I have to take them off leaving everything blurry for me. So anyways I see Richard snipping away and I even ask him in the middle of my session if that's the correct length, he guaranteed me not to worry about it and continued. So after he was done I put on my glasses and I almost cried, my hair was so short and I looked so odd- I wanted the top to be long in order to style it any way I want and the back and sides layered, now i have nothing to work with on the top because it's really short!! I grew out my hair for four months to get the style I wanted, now I have to grow it out AGAIN! I'm so disappointed and i definitely won't be coming back. Waste of my money and time, if I wanted a short basic haircut i could've went to magic cuts or some cheap place for 12-14 dollars. read more
