If I could give this a negative review I would. I had surgery in February 2017 or 2018....to be honest I don't remember the year. Thought, from the commercial it would be an easy process with little downtime....long story short they convinced me to do a mommy makeover. The day of surgery I stayed in a hotel over night near there as I had follow up the next day. My bed looked like a crime scene I bled out so much. Within a week, I had an infection so bad the doctor told me to put a Kotex with bleach in the incision, which was the worst pain ever. He then had me start going to his Culver Ciry office, since it was closer to me and it was dirty and gross. Thankfully it was just for follow up. In 2023, I noticed leaking from my belly button on occasion but so minimal I didn't think too much about it. It would happen in rare occasions. Now fast forward to 2025, my belly button started really leaking and it smelled horrible. Went to my doctors, had to go through ultrasounds, ct scans, blood work....nothing. My belly would swell on occasion as big as someone who was 7 mi the pregnant. Finally they had me just walk in while leaking and swabbed it. It was an infection. They recommended seeing a plastic surgeon since they deduced it may have been from my plastic surgery. I called Sono Bello in San Diego thinking they would be able to at least see me. They had no record of my surgery and wouldn't help me at all. I finally went to a plastic surgeon I was familiar with in Claremont. Here we are in 2026 and I just had surgery yesterday to remove infected sutures in my belly button. The infection had gotten so bad the hole in my belly button was the size of an eraser head. Sono Bello was nice as could be when taking my money but the fact they had no record of my surgery or refused to even try to help was appalling. Do NOT fall for the scam, you get what you pay for and investing in your body and health is worth more. read more

She is a sales consultant and very knowledgeable about all of Sonobello's procedures (as she should be). She answered all of my questions, didn't pressure me, and allowed me express myself without judgement. - if anyone is wondering - the consult consists of going over your body goals, reviewing what they offer, and pricing. There's 3 financing options available or you can do cash or credit card of course. Once you pay your deposit and confirm financing (if that's your choice) , you're scheduled for your pre-op. OK, let me start by. I've been watching the commercials for years... Thought I'd never go to this place then I decided to do the free consultation. When I arrived there, I had been greeted by some beautiful ladies and Carina is the one that did my consultation when I was done and I got my appointment with Dr. Cooper that was tough. Cooper is great. It just was a tough surgery, but I have to say that it was well worth it. I am very, very pleased with my results. I am writing this about 1.5 years after getting fat removal from my stomach area. I will say that before, during and after the procedure I had great care from the team (no complaints there) and I was excited to get this done and feel more confident in myself. I never had a huge amount of fat, but my stomach area was a major insecurity for me so I decided to get this done. I was initially happy with the immediate results and was feeling pretty good. However, about 6 months after recovery I started noticing some weird lumps in areas on my stomach and a harsh crease under my ribcage that never goes away even when I'm standing, and my lower ribs were all of a sudden holding most of the fat in my midsection and when I sit down, my stomach folds in the oddest ways. Despite following every after care recommendation strictly. This has been weighing on me a lot so I'm back writing this review. I am disappointed in the results. I can honestly say that I feel way more insecure now than I did pre-procedure because of the deformities on my stomach and it makes me sad that I spent so much money and I'm still, more than ever now, ashamed of my stomach and trying to hide it as much as I can, feeling super insecure in bathing suits and generally feeling uncomfortable in my body. Just wanted to share this for anyone considering the procedure. I'm sure some people's come out okay but unfortunately for me it didn't. read more

I had an AbEx procedure with Dr Sherafgan 3 weeks ago. Though the recovery has been much harder than I expected, the staff at Sonobello and Dr Sherafgan have been nothing but extremely helpful. I needed advice on a Saturday evening when my incision was draining and even though the doctor was on vacation, she answered my call and was able to reassure me. I feel like she really care about me, not just as one of her patients but as a person. I'm very grateful!! read more

Told me to wait in a room for ever and when the interviewer came, awkward stare , get this, she left me in the room not 1 but 3 times. I basically dove there to be stared at and ignored. NO RESPECT. I hope sharing my experience will help potential patients make an informed decision. 1. The consultation was with a patient care employee instead of the surgeon. This salesperson overpromised what the surgeon underdelivered. 2. I had the same surgery performed three times with them only for me to end up with a double chin and my face to end up lopsided. 3. The first surgery didn't have significant results as one would expect after enduring that much pain and paying that much money. 4. I had to wait six months to get approved for a satisfaction guarantee revision surgery that caused nerve damage and left half of my mouth droopy for at least a week and slowly started to get better after a month thanks to outside treatment. I was beyond distressed, as would be expected, but SonoBello did not call me back with any solutions when I immediately alerted them about the situation. 5. After practically begging and waiting another six months, they performed a third surgery to try and even out my face (which I had to pay the surgery fee for again) that still left my face asymmetrical. 6. After begging management to call me back, they never did. But one of their Venus technicians said they would give me two skin tightening laser treatments for free. Which is a joke since two treatments is not going to make my face symmetrical again. I am grateful for him for trying, unlike management. 7. Their scheduling is very unreliable. 90% of my appointments got rescheduled due to scheduling conflicts on their end. 8. Their managers are always "in a meeting" and never call you back. 9. The only positive thing about my experience is that their nurses and the Venus technician are extremely nice people. UPDATE: I was able to get in touch with one of SonoBello's patient experience directors to discuss all of my concerns and brainstorm acceptable solutions. They were extremely supportive and I truly appreciate their efforts to make things right. read more

I have to do a review about every two years because sono bello broke my heart. I had the full surgery (fat loss). Ever since I was a kid, I had larger than most love handles. It had always been embarrassing and was difficult to swim in public or participle in some things It also made pants and shorts never fit right so looked baggy and sloppy. It is pretty much the only part of my body I am unhappy with. My wife and I were out of the navy and working the corporate world. I had saved some money to possibly finally get my love handles taken care of. I had a belly too but could get rid of that myself as I had done a dozen times prior but reverted back with the love handles still there. Everything until, and the day of, my surgery was fine until i came out. I must have missed it prior but there were two extremely little ladies standing there to greet me, both beaming with pride. They said we got a lot of fat out of you!! I said awesome!! and what about the love Handles? I was excited!!! They looked at me and one said we didn't do that because it's too close to the spine.... I said what?? They are on my side and to the front?? They said it was too difficult moving you. I was heart broken!!! I did not have enough cash to do it again. I asked Sono for anther try various times after but not without money. After first checkup I don't believe I ever went back as it made me sick to my stomach,as it still does today, to see the offices. They did nothing for the $8,000.00 or $12,000.00 I believe it cost. I never had the chance to have the money and the time simultaneously again. So I am still shy and don't enjoy vacations where it's warm and laying out or swimming is involved. Sono just made everything worse. If your a male and want love handles looked at, go somewhere else. I have tried over the years to get something done but Sono took no responsibility and as I said the opportunity was never there again. I lost all the belly fat myself later on. The small ladies just were not cut out to handle a mid sized guy and who ever authorized that should be fired. The nurses who assisted were pretty awesome. They were all nice and kind to me. Even my post op visits. Sono Bello San Diego in La Jolla. I'm glad I never thought twice and went for this place. Even Kayla, in financing who met me to analyze what I needed done. Nurse Mary and nurse Char. Shout out to the ladies at the front desk for being cool as well. Apologies for the long review, but I feel like potential patients will want to know all of this. My experience here was quite negative. During the initial consultation with Kayla I told her that three years ago I had abdominal surgery of a completely different nature (the details were shared with her, but due to privacy would prefer not to go into those here), and stated that I thought the surgeon may want more detail before deciding on whether or not to proceed with me as a patient. I offered to provide surgical notes, results of followup care, and MRI imaging, but was told he could obtain those things himself. I stressed that I did not want to waste anyone's time with additional appointments or consults until the surgeon had ample opportunity to review these things and either ask me more questions or make a decision on his own. I was assured that this would happen. A surgical date was chosen, and a pre-op appointment made, with the promise that the surgeon would be doing homework on my case and reaching out to cancel if needed. I also paid a deposit, with the guarantee it would be refunded if the doctor declined to proceed. Fast forward to the day of my pre-op consult. Dr. Cooper had not done any of the research on my case that had been promised, and was simply going on the information provided to him by Kayla via text message. Please keep in mind that Kayla is a sales consultant, not a medical professional. This was disappointing, as I had been expecting a higher level of preparation. When we started to discuss my history and the surgery he made an immediate decision to not proceed with my scheduled procedure. He then chose to lecture me on judgment and safety, which I found condescending. Especially as I was the one trying to achieve a safe outcome and good result, and he had was the one unprepared for our appointment. His lack of preparation felt negligent to me, especially as I had been so transparent from minute one. My consult with Dr. Cooper was followed by an impromptu meeting with the practice manager. I believe her name was Andrea, but I could be mistaken. I explained why I was upset, and that I felt that my time had been wasted, which is incredibly disrespectful. Please keep in mind that my initial consult started 45 minutes late, and that I saw Dr. Cooper an hour after my scheduled time with him. This absolute waste of time pre-op consult took over 2.5 hours, and shouldn't have happened at all. She offered to have another surgeon at the practice review my case file the following day, and that I would obviously have the option for a full refund of my deposit. A week later I still had not heard anything about followup research by the other surgeon, and had decided that I did not feel comfortable with Sono Bello in general. I called to ask for my refund, and was told by Kayla that a full refund may not be possible. This is clearly outrageous, but her claim was that I had made the doctor uncomfortable by disclosing 'new' information. This is false. Nothing new was disclosed, and he is the one who elected to cancel. It has been a week since that conversation and I still have not received my refund, so I will be calling Visa to report fraud. I have also left multiple messages for the practice manager, none of which have been returned. In hindsight, I realize that in our initial meeting Kayla was telling me what I wanted to hear, without considering reality. Some examples: I told her I had a scuba vacation planned for three weeks after the procedure. She told me this wasn't a problem, but I have since learned I should not be in an ocean or pool for 30 days post op due to bacteria concerns. I asked for a list of drugs that would be used during the procedure, as I get drug tested at work and wanted to do research on how long they would be in my system. She kept assuring me that 48 hours would be fine, without providing me with drug details. I have since learned that 5 days would be the minimum. Things like this are a big deal, and should not be taken lightly. There is more, but you get the point. My experience has caused me to deduce that Sono Bello is just interested in cranking out procedures in the fastest, most mass produced way possible, without considering the individual. Do yourself a favor and find a surgeon who will meet with you prior to scheduling surgery, and who will really listen to your history, concerns, and work / lifestyle considerations. read more

My daughter had gained a lot of weight due to the medication she was taking. I did a lot of research and we decided to make an appointment with Sono Bello. It was so easy communicating via text to make the appointment. Kayla who we saw first was so sweet and explained everything. At the pre-surgery visit, we were so lucky and so blessed to get Dr. Kashaf Sherafgan. She was so nice, kind and non-judgmental to my daughter. She just got my daughter as if she was her person. She took all the time that was needed for the consultation and spoke through everything, and really made sure this was the best fit for my daughter. The day of my daughters surgery, the nurses and Dr. Sherafgan made my daughter feel so comfortable. I had to leave to go back to work, but knew she was in excellent hands. The nurses as well as the front desk staff (sorry I don't know all your names) are so amazing, sweet, kind, understanding, BUT Dr. Sherafgan is the best. I cannot say enough good things about her. She said to call anytime if we needed to and she really meant it. It was mainly her along with the nurses that take such good care of their patients, and follow up along the way. Had this expensive procedure done and it did not work. Don't waste your money. It was a waste of time and money

I elected for the AbEx and liposuction procedures in May 2023. It's been almost a year, and I still can't get over how this company of slimy salespeople scammed me and took away my right to consent to what happens to my body under sedation. I can't let them do this to other people. I did my homework and research and decided against a tummy tuck because of the 12-week recovery period and hip-to-hip scar one is left with post-op. I did not want either of those and was very vocal and straightforward about it in my consultation appointment. When I asked in my consultation about the scar, I was told it would leave me with no additional scar, they would just go in through my C-section scar. They did go in through my C-section scar, but they made it 3 times the size and it is a jagged incision. I'm left with a horrible, jagged hip-to-hip scar I did not consent to. Per charts manuals they provide to their patients for the AbEx procedure the restriction on activity is don't lift over 15 pounds for two weeks, then can resume normal activity. No swimming or immersed in water activities for one month. There are also posted comfort levels and days off work charts very far from what I experienced, and I have a BMI 0f 26-27 (the charts provided are based on having a BMI over and under 30) and I have experienced a few surgeries, including this was my 4th abdominal surgery. I was unable to resume normal activity for at least 3 months and my scar wasn't healed enough to be in water for at least 2.5 months. I also was very vocal concerning summer activities, events, pool and beach parties I had planned in my consultation and was reassured not to worry, I will not have any problem with those activities in the time frame I discussed, I was told I would be recovered in 3 weeks 4 tops. I had to cancel many activities, inconveniencing not only me but my family and my two- and four-year-old daughters. I had no choice once I awoke from my procedure. I had a hip-to-hip scar I was told I wouldn't have and had to endure a long recovery process which I was told wouldn't be. This company took away my right to consent to what happens to my body during a medical procedure under sedation. They took my time and my families' time and left me with an incredibly large scar and weird dents in my legs where I had liposuction, still present almost a year later. If I wanted a 12-week recovery period and hip-to-hip scar I would have elected to have a tummy tuck done and had my diastasis recti repaired, but I didn't want these things, they happened to me while I was asleep. I can't let this company do this to other people. The slimy salespeople at this company will lie to you when you voice to them your medical concerns. They will take away your right to consent too. I scheduled an appointment for a consultation and on my way there I called to let them know I'll be 15 mins late due to traffic. I was told I would have to reschedule (rudely) since it's 5 mins outside their grace period (no emails or communicate about this) then stated I could do a virtual consulation after hearing my frustration on the phone and that someone would call me. I set up an appointment and I arrived on time. The stupid receptionist made me fill out all forms. Every single dumb question they ask had to be answer regardless if it is not aplicable. After I was already done answering all the stupid and dumb questions, the stupid, racist unprofessional receptionist told me if I wanted to reschedule my appointment because I was late, after answering the questionnaire. The minute I stepped in, if I was late she should've told me and not made me waste my time filing out forms, if I was late like she said it was just couple minutes and still don't know why she made me fill out the forms. The great customer service that is given when you go in for consultation is not the same when your surgery does not go well. No change for me after thousands of dollars paid. I have an unnecessary scar frim the binder installed too tight after surgery. Doctor is not on your side when the results are not what was sold to you. So this is just based upon my consultation I had, not any of their services. Check out these yelp reviews before handing over your hard earned cash, 29 BAD REVIEWS Upon arrival I find that I have to pay for parking ;( not a big deal but it would be nice if they tell you when you book the appointment. My consultation lasted about 15 minutes at most. The young women was about 1/2 my age and took the time to ask me what areas I was mostly concerned about. She then had me lift my blouse while looking in the mirror and made several recommendations. I was to say the least a little embarrassed but that's what I was there for. She mentioned having the Dr also take a look and also make recommendations. This never happened, probably because I didn't sign on The next step was the cost, $10k which was about right for these laser lipo procedures around my midriff area. When I asked if they take a certain credit card she immediately went online and requested for a higher line of credit for the procedure. Which she said was Approved. Now, this is where it gets dirty. She stated, "well you qualify for $$$$$ & if you sign on today with a $500 non refundable deposit I'll include a discount" I replied with, "absolutely not, you can't possible think I'd spend that large amount of $ without consulting the actual Dr first do you?" This ain't my first rodeo and I know she's gotta get me to sign for her commission so I straight up said ty for your time I'll get back to you. Thank goodness I didn't sign because I just received a letter from that credit card company stating my credit line increase was DENIED. I would have lost that $500 NON REFUNDABLE DEPOSIT all because she lied. From The looks of all the other reviews I made the wise choice here. This office is going to have a small claims suit on there hands if they don't get their act together. I'm ok if the owner or manager wants to discuss what occurred here and learn from this mistake but if you've ever been in sales like I have chances are the girl I met with hasn't had any experience with Sona Bella's services and was just hired on to close deals. I really need to make a habit of looking at Yelp reviews prior to making appointments. Luckily I read the reviews and was able to cancel my appointment. After seeing reviews I called back the office to verify what I've been reading. What is the point of a consultation if your only meeting with a sales representative and NOT the DR. Who is the real expert of what procedures should be recommended. It absolutely makes no sense that you meet with a sales representative then if you decide to move forward you pay a non refundable deposit prior to even seeing a DR. In all honesty I think that's absurd and sketchy. Just seems a bit of a scam. They may do a great job, I just don't see their business approach to be a flattering one. I had my procedure 5 weeks ago. It was a scary decision, but for me, it ended up being one of the best decisions I've made regarding my body. I see comments about uneven, unexpected results. Listen, my body was uneven with fat sagging from gravity. I didn't expect perfection, I was ok with a scar from the abX... but I got more than what I anticipated. I will never have my tummy pouch from birth. I guess it is perspective, but I am so glad I decided to get the procedure. The La Jolla team, Dr. Sherafgan and all the nurses have been fantastic. I needed to loose 20 to 30 pounds to qualify for a partial knee replacement vs a full one. Phone salesperson at Sono Bello said it would take several visits at 8-10 lbs removed per visit. When I arrived for the visit, the office manager asked for allot of paperwork to be signed, then refused to provide a copy. As I started to leave, we settled on shredding the application and medical information (SSN, Birthdate, address, surgery history, behavior information, etc) after she entered it in their database... whaaat - this is my PII and HIPPA information. The counseling session was short. I didn't see a doctor, only a salesperson. She said they really don't remove weight (although that's on their application and advertising) but reshape certain body areas by removing s MAXIMUM of 7-10 pounds of sub-cutaneous fat (fat just under the skin) and What I wanted to lose could not be done. So if you go here, they only pull 7-10 lbs max, and charge $5-7 thousand dollars to do it They can't help you, if you want to lose more than that read more

I believe my initial consultation was in April or May. I was able to do an in-person consultation with Kayla. Kayla was very patient with me as I had many questions. She understood exactly what I wanted. When I asked the million dollar question (price), she provided a detailed print out of what the surgery would cost. There was no pressure at all. Never did she tell me it's something I should do, she left the decision totally up to me. I left the consultation feeling happy. I had my consultation back in February with Kayla, she was so informative and not pushy at all. We kept in touch over the next few weeks as I had questions before I booked my procedure date. She was very patient and helpful. The day of my procedure nurse Natasha took care of me before, during and after(until my sister was able to pick me up) my surgery. She was so also extremely helpful, super down to earth so I felt really comfortable with her. She did a great job. My surgery was done by Dr. Masoomi, he was amazing, and did such a amazing job. I felt very comfortable with him also and I truly feel like he strived to do his best work! Which I appreciate so much. When I went in for my one week check-up I was seen by nurse Maggie. She was very sweet, attentive, and took her time answering all my questions. I did not feel rushed out by her at all. I am sure with all my questions and concerns I had I went over the normal appointment time, however she did not make me feel that way. I had my upper abdominal (Liposuction ) two years ago and I look worse now, then before they touch me. Now, I have a big knot in my upper abdominal that is still numb and I'm having problems with eating and digesting. I called the office three different times and got told three different things, but the last thing I was told was that it could be permanent nerve damage. When I heard that I was so furious, so I stated this was not disclosed to me that this could happen, because if it would of been i wouldn't have went through with the procedure. So I paid over 3000.00 dollars for nerve damage, which is going to cost me a lot more money to fix their mistake. I wish I would of read these reviews before letting them touch me. For now I can't workout my ads for the knot gets bigger and it hurt. So I'm just doing the treadmill and dumbbells for now. I have my appointment with a doctor to see how much damage did they do to my body and what I can do to fix it and get the results that I already paid for. I think a company this big would do better on delivery results and informing the patients of the risk and like so many others i feel scammed. Yes, I didn't see the doctor until day of procedure, which should of been a red flag for me, but this was mine first time doing this, for I've always been able to work the fat off by working out. Now, I'm thinking this was the worst decision I have made, for they took my money but didn't delivery. I'm not done. So I had my procedure in Novemeber 2017. The sales pitch was great and Sierra does her job well I must say. The procedure went fine and each visit there was overall satisfactory. My one issue was the price, I guess it's my fault since I was not a well informed shopper. I paid $10,000 for 3 areas. The results were visible. It wasn't until I went a few places and realized I really overpaid. I could have got a tummy tuck with muscle repair, breast lift, breast augmentation, and lipo for just $12,000 from an experienced plastic surgeon in Carlsbad. So in hindsight if I knew then what I knew now I would definitely NOT have the lazerlipo with Sonobello. I felt like just another number, I didn't even meet the Dr until after I paid and signed a contract. Very sad that the business is ran in that manner. Dr Handler was also my Dr and even though he was great, it's just way too overpriced. read more

I have my 1st. consultation appointment, the woman that barely talk to me, who I don't think she has a title of a doctor, was very unprofessional, I am a healthy person. For some reason she started to add points against my health, without knowing anything about my health. I feel very discriminated ! I asked her very politely if she wants my doctors approvals, she didn't listen to me at all! I guess she was in a hurry to get me out of there by adding more points she barely explain to me what she was doing and started to add points like it was a game. I guess she wasn't interested to listen to me, I am Hispanic and maybe she misunderstood what I was trying to say. She made me feel very uncomfortable! Very UNPROFESSIONAL.
