This review is overdue. Dr. Edelson did my eyes a first time, and didn't take enough skin, so I went back after a couple of years for another. During the procedure he kept saying I had so much skin. But he took too much skin and I cannot close my right eye. His office was discombobulated and never sent me before and after pictures and never followed up after I called the office twice. I was recommended to him by a very good doctor. I lived okay with the right eye not closing at first but year after year it gets worse and now I have blurry vision in my right eye. Please, be careful with this doctor. You don't want to lose your vision like I have. They are your eyes. And if too much skin is taken, they cannot put it back. Dr Edelson is top notch. He removed a rather larger Lipoma from the middle of my forehead and it left no scar. I was obsessed with this bump on my forehead, and was worried removal would leave a scar in its place. I researched hundreds of doctors to find someone who could do this without leaving a scar right smack in the middle of my forehead. Dr Edelson's technique was simple and fast. I didn't feel any pain and I was back to normal life the next day. I drove from Los Angeles to Dr E bc the plastic surgeons I found near me didn't use the technique Dr E used, and it cost $10k +. This review is 6 weeks post-surgery which is perfect. I'm half Asian, mid 30's male based in SD and did 3 months of homework on getting an upper blepharoplasty before finally making the decision to stay here and trust Dr. Edelson. My beautiful eyes weren't at their full potential because I had hooded eyelids with extra skin above my eyes that made me look tired and forced me to subconsciously over-compensate by always lifting up my eye brows to temporarily counter this which is terrible for forehead wrinkles. This was a huge factor along with the obvious mental aspect. I did my homework and originally booked a flight to South Korea because that is the upper blepharoplasty capital of the world with Asians coming from all over to get this done in droves. Because of this competition... the procedure is priced $1k+ lower than doctors I cold-called in San Diego and LA. HOMEWORK I called 6 plastic surgery centers (including Edelson) that emphasized this procedure as part of their speciality (doctors market themselves touting certain procedures and the doctors who concentrate on breast augmentations are not the same ones you want doing your eyelids and vice versa). Doctors who concentrate or do this on the regular should be considered first and for me... experience with Asian patients was a huge selling point. DECISION My flight to South Korea was early February (February sucks and I'd rather be down a few weeks when it's cold and nothing is going on versus summer) figuring I'd also make a trip out of this. When you factor in flights, lodging and having to sit in a hotel room for a few days for post op it's almost the same amount... and still use it as an opportunity to check out the homeland and visit family. Week before my flight, a friend who was super happy with her rhinoplasty (and also owns a skin care practice so I knew her opinion was educated)... highly encouraged me to see Dr. Edelson in person for a consult before I leave. His name also kept on popping up when I asked local practice surgeons here who they recommend..so I made an appt at his office. First impression I really liked the aesthetics of the Alexis Surgery Center in La Jolla. Reception area is super clean/modern and staff was friendly. His assistant was very welcoming and also answered my prelim questions via text. After meeting him and looking at more before/after photos (including Asians)... I cancelled my flight (now have credit with Delta) and got it done the week after! Yes he was more than the doctors who quoted me in Korea but when I added up flight etc it was close to even. He has extensive EXTENSIVE experience doing these AND I didn't want to fly back to Korea if I needed a touch up. 6 weeks after and I feel like my photos should now be in that same before/after book. I have also been consulting my plastic surgery friends in who don't specialize in this... they agree with me that my results are incredible. I had so much extra skin weighing me down and now that it's gone... I subtly look 100x better and more alert. I made it out to Gaslamp the weekend after with a baseball cap on... and no one could even tell I had anything done until I told them . My skin is much tighter and he cut out the perfect amount. Artistically... the additional fold that is now on my upper eyelids looks extremely natural and I'm extremely happy how they have naturally developed. This is the most important part long-term esp if you're Asian. Mentally... I have a huge worry lifted off my mind because I'm more at ease and not always having to feel like I need to lift up my eyebrows. Hard to explain but my mind is more clear and my ADD is down so I can concentrate more. Reach out if you have any questions. It maybe time for Dr Edelson to retire I've had two surgeries with him. The first went well; the second has been a disaster. Not only was there NO difference in my face, but there was a surgical error that has persisted for over a year. DrEdelson took too much skin off my left eye, which resulted in an eye that does not close, completely. Furthermore, I have had to have eye surgery, numerous procedures & medications. At this time, there is nothing that can be done to repair it DrEdelson refuses to take responsibility even though he offered me $5K , at one time. I believe I deserve more& his response was to hand over the issue to his nasty insurance company, Doctor, you need to step up , take responsibility & offer decent compensation for the failed facelift & subsequent eye problem. This is a very long overdue review. I was charged under 6 grand to make my nose smaller and was told I would also get a septoplasty back in 2020. The reason for the low price was because he didn't need to break the bones. After the surgery, I immediately noticed a bump on one side of the tip of my nose and addressed my concern and was told to keep coming back every month for a year and then he could basically cut it from the inside. After the year, he told me there was nothing he could do, and that he did what was in the scope, even though i was given a new embarrassing bump on the tip of my nose that was 100 percent from the surgery. I believe it's called "bossae." He also said he never even did a septoplasty. My botched surgery caused me so much distress. I never wanted to meet anyone go out because of my new deformity. I ended up having to spend 20 thousand dollars for a revision with someone else which took me three years to pay. I haven't even left the state for the last few years because I was committed to my monthly loan payments to fix what Dr. E did. I do regret not taking more action to recover my damages but I didn't want to make a thing of it, as this is a nose job and i don't need a whole courtroom to know about it. read more

Avoid this doctor! He pays for positive reviews, which is why he has 5 stars. He left my daughter with extremely visible scars on both sides of her nose. Her nose is now crooked and her nostrils are completely different shape and size. Worst of all, he does not care. I have tried to talk to him many times and he has no compassion and refuses to help us. I've taken her to be seen by other surgeons to fix the problems he created. Several years ago, I developed a benign bone tumor called an osteoma that manifested as an ugly lump on my forehead. The first orthopedic surgeon I saw offered to remove it by cutting directly into my forehead, which would leave a terrible scar. After some research, I found that plastic surgery had a procedure where they could go into the hairline, lift the forehead and remove the tumor. The first plastic surgeon I contacted wanted $8k - $10K for the procedure, which was too expensive for me. A physician friend then recommended Dr. Edelson. Dr. Edelson has developed his own technique for removing benign osteomas which involves a local anesthesia, no fancy tools, and took about 20 minutes. The bandages came off the next day, and within a week most of the swelling had subsided. I have no visible scars, as the incision was made in my hairline. Even better, he charged me a fraction of the estimate I got from the other plastic surgeon for the procedure, which made it affordable for me. My forehead has healed, and it is smooth without bumps. Dr. Edelson did a fantastic job. It has made such a difference in how I feel about my appearance. One last thing that I think is important for a patient to consider. My procedure was not a huge moneymaker for Dr. Edelson, but his kindness and consideration to me was as if I had come to him for treatments worth thousands. He could not have been more generous with his time and answering my questions. If you have an osteoma, you know how disfiguring it can be and how badly it makes you feel about your appearance. I feel extremely grateful to Dr. Edelson. He did an excellent job with my face/neck lift and minor rhinoplasty. It does take time to fully heal, but the results are pretty fantastic. I have had some issues with some scar tissue that developed inside of my nose, but I do not believe it has anything to do with the surgery. I think it is quite unfortunate that my nose healed with an excessive amount of scar tissue inside. It does not affect the aesthetic outcome, which has been beautiful, but it does create some blockage inside one nostril. Dr. Edelson gave me the most reasonable price for the amount of work performed, and I am greatly appreciative of that. I have extreme anxiety, so I put off having rhinoplasty surgery for over 10 years. Even though I had a deviated septum, my nose was very crooked, and my right nostril was almost completely closed because of this. My breathing was terrible. I'm a healthcare worker, and with the N95 masks and having to breathe through my mouth all the time it has been miserable. I researched for years, and I was lucky enough to come across Dr. Edelson. I looked at his website, spoke to him through email and on the phone, and he put me right at ease. He was there every step of the way, pretty much on call for me every single day for 2 months! Dr. Edelson performed my earlobe reconstruction surgery (I previously had my ears gauged/stretched to about 1/2 inch) and I am very satisfied and would highly recommend him. + Dr. E has a wonderful bedside manner - he is friendly, warm, engaging, patient, and professional. He will take the time to answer any question or address any concern. + His staff is also excellent - everyone I encountered (assistant, nurse, receptionist) were also kind and helpful. + His price was very good. I paid $800 to have both ears fixed. I had previously received a quote of $1500 at a Beverly Hills practice. + He's familiar with this particular procedure - he does these regularly. I am very happy with the result. There's some visible scarring but it has only been one month and it is to be expected. + The procedure itself was quick - took about 45 minutes total. You come back in a week to take the stitches out. + Offered free re-piercing with a gun (after about a month) and even provided the stud. + The office waiting area is really nice. Very classy and stylish, with sunlight streaming in.
