I came late at ~11:35 thinking that 11-12 was entry window and was told to come back later at 1pm because the staff is going to have lunch. I didn't have such amount of time. And they said "ok you can pick for 20 minutes". Ok. And then I had 5 minutes orientation. I was sad but ok, still tried to enjoy the garden. At 11:55 the staff lady came personally to me and said "it's time to check out". At the same time a family of 4 stayed in the garden to continue their picking. I asked "Why are you sending only me away?". "The other group is coming. I'm only following orders". That's terrible. I didn't even take my fruits. I checked several time their website and couldn't find anything about these strict time frames and the lunch breaks. Usually u pick farms are friendly, cheaper and provide as much time as needed.. They were hosting a mushroom workshop but we just putzed around to pet animals, wander through the garden, and soak up some nature. The farm has alpacas, Jacob sheep, and various ducks. Cows in the outside fields. A beautiful cut flower garden; and a greenhouse with shiitake and oyster mushrooms growing. Beautiful spot off highway 116; perfect farm vibes on a beautiful autumn day. What can I tell you; Steve is the owner and opens his homestead for folks like us to learn, explore and enjoy. Isabelle runs the flower garden in the lower garden that is full of dahlias, zinnias, and other beauties. We walked a way with some cut flowers, pink oyster mushrooms to cook for dinner, and a shiitake mushroom growing kit. I love mushrooms and I'm super excited to harvest our kit in 7-8 days! Super lovely spot to have spent an afternoon! Perfect west county farm full of character.

Arabequina was my favorite followed by Tuscan which had light peppery bite to it. Tasting has gluten free crackers and sparkling water. We also tasted mandarin kumquat citrus oil and apple cider syrup- both so good! The tasting room is Tuscan-like and gorgeous! Lastly the veg packed lunches were great- corn salad, sweet strawberries, caprese sandwich and vegan cookie with olive oil. I bought the Arabequina oil and hope to use it in cooking and salads.

An Unforgettable Napa Experience - Hudson Ranch Winery On…read moreour recent trip to Napa, my friend and I visited Hudson Ranch Winery in the Carneros Valley for the first time, and it ended up being one of the highlights of our trip. The property is absolutely stunning--a vast, private ranch and winery known for its award-winning wines. Beyond the vineyards, they also grow unique fruits, vegetables, flowers, and even raise livestock, including goats. The attention to sustainable farming and the beauty of the property make it feel like so much more than just a winery. From the moment you arrive, the experience feels exclusive. The entrance is gated, and they open it for you upon arrival. As you drive up the winding road, you're surrounded by vineyards stretching across both sides before reaching the main estate, where there's plenty of parking. We visited on a Thursday, and it was wonderfully peaceful--it was just the two of us. We booked the wine tasting ($100 per person) along with the optional guided ranch hike ($20). The hike is a three-mile loop through the property. While it was beautiful, I wouldn't recommend starting it at 1:30 p.m. in the summer like we did! It was very hot, with several steep uphill and downhill sections and limited shade. Thankfully, Hudson provided complimentary water bottles and even hats for guests who needed them. There are also benches throughout the trail for resting, and white rock markers make it easy to stay on the correct path. After the hike, we were welcomed into a beautifully designed tasting salon that felt like a reward after all those steps. Each place setting was personalized with our names and a welcome card, which added such a thoughtful touch. We enjoyed a curated tasting of four wines--two reds, one white, and one rosé--paired with artisan cheeses, popcorn made right on the ranch, and continuously refilled ice-cold water.My fave wines were the Lady Bug and Grenache. Relaxing in the air-conditioned tasting room after the hike was exactly what we needed. Following the tasting, we explored the succulent garden along with the ranch's fruit and vegetable gardens. It was fascinating to learn about the many unique varieties they grow. The gardens were bursting with colorful flowers, including several varieties of sunflowers. One of my favorite discoveries was learning that Hudson grows a giant pumpkin each year to compete in the Monterey Bay pumpkin competition--a fun and unexpected tradition. Every detail of the experience was thoughtfully planned, from the personalized tasting to the beautifully maintained grounds. The setting is elegant without feeling pretentious, and the staff made us feel genuinely welcome throughout our visit. Yes, it's on the pricier side, but in our opinion, it was worth every penny. Between the incredible wines, breathtaking property, personalized hospitality, and memorable hike, Hudson Ranch Winery offers an experience that's far more than a typical wine tasting. If you're looking for a unique and elevated Napa experience, I highly recommend adding Hudson Ranch Winery to your itinerary. Just one tip: if you're planning to do the hike, book an earlier morning time slot during the warmer months!

It's a great nonprofit with a whole lot of heart. They sell fruits and veggies to the public and on…read morea sliding scale. They organize opportunities for people to help harvest, extra surplus from peoples houses and then donate it to local food centers around the area. They also sell plant starts two times a year which helps fund their efforts. I have volunteered for them in their cleaning efforts and on their plant sale days, and everyone is courteous, kind and display the passion they have for being a part of a solution to needs in our area. My plant starts have always done really well and I like shopping with them every year, too!
