Fun in a go once and done kind of way. Very pricey. The train to the petting zoo costs $9.75 per person. 1 and over must have a ticket. They have 5 other rides- Ferris wheel, roller coaster, helicopter, pirate ship and a twister ride. An adult must accompany a child if they are under the height limit even if they just stand by the child. Each ride is $4.25 or 5 tickets for $18.75. No outside food is permitted. Not sure if it was worth the drive if you have to travel far. Overall the kids had fun. This place does not charge for admission or parking. The train is $10 per person and prob my favorite part of the park. It goes through roughly a 4 mile scenic route and then stops midway for about 15 mins to allow the kids to feed the animals. There weren't as many animals out the day we went unfortunately. It seems like the train would benefit from line control as we waited 25 mins to be in front and there were people cutting the lines and adults being extremely rude. As for the roller coaster rides- a lot of the rides required being accompanied by an adult which I was hoping I could get a break and get the kids to play together. It is height based with $5 a ride. There are about 5 rides total. My only complaint is the Ferris wheel seat belt wasn't locked in and one of the kids accidentally unbuckled the seatbelt when we were at the top, luckily I caught it and buckled us back in. read more

Cute little place! We went on a holiday (day before July 4th) and made it a point to get there early. A line started forming well before 10am, I would say maybe 10-15 minutes before? We ended up buying train tickets and a 5 ticket ride pack (which I realized, I should have brought more). We were on the first train, and it left maybe around 10:10am. The ride is about 20 minutes and they really set the area up to be scenic and entertaining for the kids - little homes, animal and gnome sculptures, etc. etc. We did stop at a small train town with miniature houses and farm animals. I do recommend bringing quarters because there are coin machines that give out feed, so that the kids can feed the animals. My kids spent most of their time with the animals and didn't get to explore the town, I wish we were there longer! As for the rides, we only went on two. I went on the helicopter ride with my kids and my bar wasn't working to lift the plane up, the worker did try to help me though. Then my husband and daughter went on the rollercoaster and that seemed like a popular ride - they had a lot of fun. By 11am, the place was packed, so I do recommend coming early to beat the crowds! read more

This is a great little train centered amusement park, perfect for littles. My 8 year old had just as great time as my 3 year old. The train was fine - it rolls through the park, through dark tunnels, and stops at the little miniature town with a petting zoo. Not too many animals, but loved feeding the alpaca! The rides! So fun! They had maybe around 6-7 and they let my 3 year old on, which was unexpected, and he loved it. We did the Scrambler, the Tug Boat, the roller coaster and ferris wheel. We were in and out in about an hour+; which gave us plenty of time to go wine tasting after. Overall, a solid stop. We came earlier in the morning, about 10:30am and it was already crowded, but not packed. While the parking lot was full, there is plenty of street parking. We'd def stop again on our next visit to Sonoma for some ride fun! read more

Cute little place to stop at with a toddler. There is a nice little train ride (different cost from other rides there, more expensive) that is actually decently long, and it even stops for you to get out and explore a mini train town and see some alpacas and goats. They have little gumball type machines that you can buy feed to feed the animals for 25 cents. TrainTown has a few other rides as well, including a toddler-friendly roller coaster! There's also a boat ride that spins and goes from side to side, a carousel, a merry go round, a ferris wheel, and others. Parking was easy to find even though the lot isn't huge. My family and I visited Sonoma Train Town Railroad for the first time about 7 years ago. This is one of the better family friendly hidden gems in the Sonoma county. We happen to be in the area recently and so I was able to share the experience with my other family members like my parents, brothers, and their families. We arrived on a Labor Day Monday. The train town is located in a nice area in Sonoma close to beautiful downtown Sonoma. There is plenty of accessible parking in the large parking lot. It is free to go in but tickets are required for the amusement park rides and train ride. Unfortunately we did not get to go on any of the other rides, the train is the main attraction so we only bought tickets to ride on that. The train ride is an amazing 20 minute journey through a small forest with tall trees, lagoons, waterfalls, a petting zoo, tunnels, and historic structures. I appreciate that the train ride is suitable for both kids and adults. The petting zoo and duck pond was a pleasant surprise. Overall we enjoyed our experience at Sonoma Train Town Railroad. The staff was friendly and helpful. We need more family friendly establishments like these in the South Bay that both adults and kids will appreciate. We have taken our train obsessed 4 year old to Traintown many times over the last 2 years. It makes for a nice day trip from the bay area combined with a nice lunch or dinner in Sonoma - hop monk and red grape close by are great! I like this place because they do not have an entry ticket and you can pay per ride. The train ride is fun and you see waterfalls, real and fake animals, bridges etc. Take some quarters as they are handy if your kid wants to feed the animals (the train driver has change as well) Some rides are scarier than they look, so make sure you check before sending your kid. They have kids running the rides and they do a good job - sometimes there aren't enough operators and you have to wait. There isn't a lot of food options there so take snacks if you need them! read more

What a cute little semi-amusement park for families with young children! My family and I came here this past weekend to ride the train. It was a 20min train ride with a nice stop in the middle of the ride where you get to explore the animal farm and feed the goats (need to pay $.25 to get the food pebbles) and check out the little town they built in the area. Pretty cool! All the rides required a ticket but there was no admission fee. It cost $4.25 per ride and $9.75 for the train ride. The prices for the rides were for everyone including babies. Those under 12months old were able to ride the train for free. Super fun family event and for families with young children! Just make sure to bring sunblock and fluids for the little ones! No outside food or drinks but they had a food stand that sold snacks and drinks. There was also a toy store with plenty of train toys! Overall, great experience! Check it out! Yikes I had several friends tell me that this would be a great option for my two toddler boys but I had a pretty miserable experience. Maybe it was exacerbated bc I have two toddler boys, maybe because I decided I'd try to also bring my senior parents, maybe it was because we came on a Saturday after Christmas... and it's normally much better? Be warned / the bad- - The train ride: there was no real line to get on the train ride. People line up but massacre one another to get a seat. We had two attempts (each ride is 20 min so you're waiting in between) and our second one was really bad - a lady pushed my dad so she could get on. We ended up having my parents take my kids with the seats we did get and tried to refund two train tickets because we didn't want to wait another 25+ min and ride with just my husband and I. They wouldn't do it but thankfully the lady behind me was looking for two tickets and bought from me - guess her kindness zeroed out the horrible woman. - The railroad crossing: We witnessed two instances where older women were hit on their heads by the railroad crossing bars. They lacked any type of sound warning ‼ - Antiquated and slow: Overall it just seemed like this place lacked modern systems and efficiency. They had single workers working two separate amusement rides each, creating pauses and delays. Overall I think this also creates safety hazards. The good: - It's a nice set up for kids obsessed with trains (mine are not) - There's enough to entertain kids - ie the rides and trains - It's conveniently located a 5 min drive from downtown Sonoma - There's no admission fee though the train ride is $10 a person (all over 1 year old) and rides cost money (about $20 for a 5 ticket pack) Overall this is a decent and easy kid-friendly option if you're planning a stay in Sonoma but I would not come just for this. read more

One of the best experiences and places to visit with little ones. The train engine collection itself is adorable and will attract adults and young ones alike. The first favorite was definitely the train ride and the little stop. Our baby absolutely loved the little school at the station. The Alpacas and rabbits the next favorites. The carousel was enjoyed by all of us thrice. The Ferris wheel/ helicopter ride came next. Come with food for your kids since what they offer are only popcorn/pretzel/bruschetta. That's not enough food / options as healthy meal options. But definitely enjoyed them as snacks. We felt the number of restrooms are not enough and we didn't find the diaper changing station. Never heard of this place until my mini me suggested it as a family outing with her baby and us. Parking was ok but very busy. Admission is free but rides including the 20 min train road are at a reasonable cost. I wanted to go for the train ride. Mini me and grand baby loved the carousel ride. The train was cute and easy to get into. We all loved the ride and even the little intermission they take you to a little petting zoo with alpacas and goats to feed. There even ducks too. The ride on train back to front of park was nice as you can see all the rides throughout the place. Came on the first day of Summer weekdays and it was a bust. Half the rides not open or they have workers running two rides one after another causing a backlog of kids wanting to go on the ride. Or they have a sign saying they will be back and then keep moving the time they will be back. It's now 15 min from the time they were to be back. They know they are the only game in town so they can do whatever they want. Also overpriced food. Got a bag of popcorn (about 12 oz) for $5.07. That's insane. Too bad, they have a nice place and they are taking advantage of families time and money. Will need to rethink a return visit. Without exaggeration, the "boarding" for the train is HORRIBLE! There is NO orderly process of lining up. You do "line up" on the line, but it is actually a chaotic free for all as everyone pushes through to sit in a car while people are still getting off. Once on, you are smooshed in like sardines. I think it was fair considering there's no admission fee. You don't need more than two hours here. It's probably less chaotic on the weekdays. Saturday, 7/01/2023 - Went to Sonoma Train Town Railroad to check them out. When we were there, it was hot! We picked a hot day to go. Lol. Address is 20264 Broadway, Sonoma, CA 95476. Upon arrival... Pros 1) there were plenty of parking when we arrived. 2) no entrance fee. The kiosk windows were closed and we saw other people just walk in. 3) there's a few rides for kids. Mine loved the roller coaster. 4) train ride is 20 mins and $9.95 per person. It was a cool train ride. They had it set up nicely. We really enjoyed it. 5) there's one station to buy foods, drinks, and tickets. 6) there's a cute gift shop. 7) staffs were very nice. 8) there's a petting zoo. 9) Thera a cute little old town you get to explore and look inside the house. I was very excited to come to TrainTown with my nephews who absolutely love trains! The admission for TrainTown is free which is a plus but you basically pay for everything else (all the rides). The park itself basically revolves around one train that is about 15-20 mins long and drives around the park and stops at the small animal zoo with some small buildings for kids then after about 10 mins takes off back to the entrance of the park. The entire park itself is very small and only has a few rides. I do wish there were more museums or more things about trains rather than just one single train. The kids liked it and you can spend about 2-3 hours here but the rides can get a bit pricey. Don't have high expectations like you're coming to disneyland or something but if you just expect to have 2-3 hours of fun with kids who like rides, you'll have fun. In Summary: Pros: Free admission and Free parking if you just want to take a look before paying for the rides. The train ride is pretty fun and about 20 mins long. Petting zoo and some small areas for the kids to look at. Great for kids 3-10. Everyone here is very friendly. Also lots of parking. Cons: Rides can get expensive and the park itself is very small. Make sure that you bring quarters if you want to feed the animals as that's the only way to get food to feed the animals. They also have some carnival like rides, a roller coaster, a carousel, etc. You can buy 5 tickets for $18.75 and most rides are about 1 ticket per person. They also say they don't allow outside food, which I find a little ridiculous for being a place for children. I have kids under 1 so they can only eat specific things, and my toddler wants snacks every 5 minutes so I brought them in and no one said anything. I just experienced my first Racist experiences at train town by the train driver who is an old man on Sunday 4/19. It was time to board the train I had my baby, little sister and 3 year old son was sitting by himself in front of me. There was a white male and son who was having a tantrum because he didn't want to board the train and they couldn't find a seat and also was having trouble with his son he was kicking and screaming. Train driver came over near us and said sir you need to sit down there was an empty seat behind us and others that he pointed out then suddenly he said who's son is this he need to move. While my son was just sitting down I said he's my son and he doesn't want to move ( mind you there was empty seat behind me) the train driver GRAB MY SON PICKED HIM UP and sat him next to me and said he has no choice but to move. I was in shock and to be honest had no words while people from the back of the train were laughing mind you he could have sat anywhere else or ask anyone else to move. His behavior was not acceptable you do not grab anyone's kid and worse them to move. I have never in my life help so Humiliated. Please watch your staff and educate them on never touching or pick up someone's kid and moving them. The worst racist experience ever. read more

This lovingly created venue was a perfect treat for our 3 1/2 year old granddaughter to enjoy on our recent trip to the Bay Area. Dear Hubby and I had been there years ago when our nephews were young. It was on my mind as an option to visit with our little bundle of energy. We met my niece and sister-in-law there, and four adults and one toddler had a blast riding the train through the intriguing landscape and little Western town settings throughout the property. Waterfalls, streams, tunnels, and creatures (live and statues) punctuate the grounds. At the midway point of the ride, the train stops for a visit to a frontier town. Scaled down versions of church, school, firehouse, jail, stores, etc. are the right size for kids to explore. Animals are available to feed - somehow, I was the one who our granddaughter elected to feed a llama so that she could google with delight watching me. Once the train returned to the station, we all went for a carousel ride next. Within the overall setting of the Train Town grounds, it makes for a special ride. The big finish was our wonderful granddaughter piloting a plane on a kids-only ride. We were all encouraging her to pull up on the stick so she could fly high, and she got the hang of it, with a huge smile on her face. Priceless! The staff at Train Town was universally polite, kind, and even patient when our little miss had to look at almost every one of the planes before she decided in which one to ride. Pre-flight check, right? Of course, she wanted to stay longer and ride more, but thankfully, they were getting ready to close, and our tickets were spent. Went with my granddaughter and my son. I basically felt that the place was a hustle. $9.95 to get in including a 6 year old. Had to wait a really long time for the 20 minute train ride which was about 10 minutes long because you stopped at the "petting zoo" where a few unfriendly animals were only interested in the paltry amounts of food that you had to buy, ride tickets were expensive. The rickety roller coaster was fun, we got to the Ferris wheel only to be told that the person in charge had to run another ride nearby. The carousel is very pretty. My kid loves trains, but this isn't worth visiting unless you already live in the area. There's really only one attraction at this park (the main train), and it is SO EXPENSIVE. One ride is $9.75, more than twice the price of Tilden ($4, and Tilden is a longer/nicer ride and there are two trains at that park). Because there's not really anything else to do, we rode the train three times, aka $60 (parent + child) for nothing except a repeat train ride. The amusement park rides are a very long wait because there's not enough staff to run them. Came Labor Day weekend and it gets PACKED! We arrived about an hour after opening which helped with parking but there are so many suvs that most took up two spots. The kids enjoyed the 7 different rides they offered. We started from the back at the roller coaster and worked our way forward. Our 4y/o loved the coaster, teacup like ride, and the flying airplanes. She was bummed the Ferris wheel wasn't working and the bigger flying planes was closed. The merry go round was nothing special and it was getting hot and the guy taking tickets kept waiting for people to come on and ride. Now with our 18 month old getting fussy he finally started the ride. We all enjoyed to 20+ minute train ride. Which also stopped at the little petting zoo where you need quarters to feed the alpacas and sheep. It was pretty hot at this time and the train has very limited shade so getting back onto the metal seats burned! We made sure to put the kids on our lap.
