A stunning Regional Park with well maintained trails and beautiful views. There is parking on the side of the road and tons of nature to be found. We saw hawks, butterflies, ladybugs, and many different species of trees for the nature lovers out there. There were a few places to sit and picnic, so bring a sandwich and sunblock! read more

I can't today for the dog park which is really large fenced area with shade trees, tables, chairs, a gazebo, water bowls for the dogs There is a porta potty plus water fountain for people plus miles of hiking trails. Very relaxing and a good place for dog socializing and exercise. Parking fee or Sonoma park pass or you can park on the side of the road and walk in. The pass is reasonable and good for parking in all of the Sonoma Valley Parks. Friendly people and mostly mellow dogs. read more

Parking lot is paved, path is paved with off shoots of dirt trails to loop around. There's a dog park, looked big and inviting- I did not bring my dog in there. There was a a fountain at the start of the trail and port a potties. Beautiful place, people were friendly. read more

Thoroughly enjoyed our hike here today. The wildflowers are blooming with many varieties. We did a beautiful 4 mile hike that looped around the lake- plan to go back & explore the many other trails. Shaded areas and sunny with picnic tables and/or benches throughout. read more

This was a lovely place to hike, but beware! We planned on doing a short-ish hike along the Valley of the Moon trail, and back to the parking lot via the Woodland Star Trail, but somewhere around the vista point/West Sutton Lake trail (we think) there were several diverging trails with no markers, and we picked the wrong one... we ended up off the map they show on the park website, and going around Suttonfield lake, not knowing where we were, and wandering around in the dark really scared and cold. We came out on the opposite side of the park from where we parked in the parking lot. If you're unfamiliar with the trails, don't take the Woodland Star trail, because there are too many divergent and unmarked trails leading off of it. Rangers/Part Staff: please go up to the picnic table along the the Woodland Star trail and figure out which trail is a continuation of the Woodland Star trail, and which is the East/West Sutton Lake trail, and then put trailheads with arrows there. It would also be helpful if the map on the website included the various trails around Suttonfield Lake, so people can figure out how to get back to the parking lot. Thanks! read more

I love this place. I have been hiking and running here since I was a toddler. I can't count the number of times I've ridden my bike and run on the "bike path." Go for a casual stroll on the paved path or you can venture off into the hills for beautiful views of the valley. The best time to go is in March and April when everything is green and the wildflowers are in bloom. I love watching the fog lift off of the mountains in the morning from the highway 12 entrance! read more

My favorite park to visit! I always go there with a nice snack or drink and just sit down. Very big and open space with a hiking trail. The people there are friendly and it's so quiet and calm. It's also a great place to bring your doggies! read more

Not that we needed a reason to take the dog for a hike but we also used this trip to enjoy a wonderful hike and anothe rhour at the dog park to wear out the pooch. Lots of people on the trails during the SIP event so please keep your distance but it was nice to see so many people getting out with their families and dogs. Parking is free right now and the sunshine adbundant...grab your loved ones and some provisions and make a half day out of it. We need to get out safely during these times and Sonoma Valley Regional parks is the perfect place to take a break from the SIP. read more

Great size for a dog park nice and open. Has a pump for fresh water and usually a pool or two for the doggies to swim in. Nice little lap Trail on the edge of the park. There is a nice hiking trail behind the dog park as well. My chow Napoleon enjoys coming here. read more

We picked this place because they allow dogs on the trail. There is also large fenced in dog park. We took the. Valley of the Moon trail around and then up to and around the reservoir and then found a trail that brought us back to the parking lots. It would have been better if there was better signage. I used my All Trails app to figure out the trails. Thanks for allowing dogs! read more

This is a large park with may entrances. I came in on the Carmel Ave side because I had a pastry at Les Pascales and wanted to go for a walk. The path was well maintained. There were bags available at the start of the trail for dog poop. It was very clearly marked. There was no real parking. It was a Beautiful view of the mountains. The area was perfect for a nice walk. No bathrooms at the Carmel ave entrance. read more

This is one of my favorite parks in all of Sonoma County. My husband and I have been taking our yellow lab here for almost 5 years. We love when we're not in a drought and our pup is able to swim in the lake. It's great for him to get some exercise in and then afterwards we walk the trails while he dries off. I love that this park never feels really busy. It's beautiful and easy to walk around a couple miles while taking in the beautiful scenery. I'm so thankful for places like Sonoma Valley Regional Park that allows dogs. read more

This is truly one of the best dog friendly parks I have been to in the bay area. A meandering paved path through a shady oak valley along a stream right through the middle of the park. Sutter's Lake (actually next to the park) is clear enough to see the bass swimming below the surface and well worth the side trip after walking the paved trail or hiking the hillside trails. Btw there are numerous tables perfect to sit at and enjoy a picnic. Bring lots of fluids, both for fido and yourself since 200 acres is enough to get turned around in. Also, the map posted is inadequate! Do research before you go, since the cell service is spotty too. :) read more

This is such a beautiful place. I'm rarely ever this speechless about a place, but I am right now. The trails are easy and good for children. It feels much bigger once you're there too. I'd recommend having lunch by the lake there too. The views are absolutely stunning despite them not being super duper high in elevation. Parking is very inexpensive there, (either $7 or $8 there, I can't exactly remember.) read more

Fantastic park! We walked the Valley of the Moon paved trail (1.3 miles from Hwy 12 parking lot to Arnold Drive) with our dogs today and it was lovely! Trail is pretty flat with benches & picnic tables (with trash cans) along the way. Trail follows little creeks and additional trails take off from this main trail. read more

Pretty park, very dusty and not signed, but not so big you'll get really lost, although I would recommend trying to note where you turn on the trail. Takes you to a nice pond to walk around. It's very relaxing and not at all crowded, so a nice way to be outdoors and get a little exercise between or before wine tastings and food. read more

I took an unexpected hike at Sonoma Valley Regional Park when I discovered Jack London's help was late opening the gates. Even though I was closer to the entrance on the Arnold Drive side of the park, I didn't like the parking so I drove around to the highway 12 side that had ample parking. I have an annual pass for Sonoma County Regional Parks so I didn't have to pay the $7.00 parking fee. I was not familiar with the park and I wanted to see the lake and took the West Sutton lake trail which led me to a gate opening that had a sign Park Boundary Restricted Area Beyond this point, so I went back and took the Corridor Ridge Trail assuming I would be able to spot the lake from the top of the mountains - it was hilly terrain which led me to the Arnold side of the park and I never saw the lake. That side opens up into Lake Suttonfield which is not part of the Sonoma Valley Park but a reservoir. I could not find very much information on this lake online. After hiking around the lake I started back to my car from the other side of lake on well-cut trails but found myself walking in what could have been private property - it was very confusing where the park started and stopped and what trails were private or not. I found myself having to use my GPS to figure out where I was most of the time. My fitbit hit 10,000 steps by the time I got back to my car so expect this was about 4 miles. The hike starts with some pretty impressive vistas of the Sonoma Valley and Glen Ellen area. The wildlife I saw was limited to birds. I saw acorn woodpeckers, turkey vultures, western jays, and a lot of tweets. At the lake I saw Mallards, Cormorants, Herons, Coots and a solo Bufflehead that looks lost and out of place. The park was not much to see the lake was pretty cool. Anchored with a dog park this place is good for dog walkers and noticed some jogging and signs of equestrian activity. I guess there is a fair amount of birding here too as a birding site has information on this park as well. Living in Petaluma, I don't think I would make a special trip to visit here. It is a nice spot for the locals. read more

This park is a great place for dog walking and there's a huge and well-maintained dog run as well. There's a nice lake there too!

We parked in the lot just off Highway 12 just East of the Glen Ellen turnoff and puzzled over the park map oriented upside down from the way in which you view it. Heading West on the paved path we took the first turnoff to the left, the East Sutton Lake Trail. In October the park is very dry and the network of paths well worn. Markers exist which guided us to the reservoir where there was a wonderful view across the valley in the afternoon sun. However, the pond is somewhat star shaped so that we didn't recognize the trail we'd taken to the lake, the inlets looking quite similar. We got lost, but climbed steep trails to the ridge and then kept the distant fire station on our right to get back to the parking lot. Altogether we hiked about 3-4 miles through golden hills of bearded live oak, enjoying the quiet, the clean air and the long somewhat mysterious shadows. There is water and a Honey Bucket at the parking lot. Please keep dogs on lease. Thank you. read more

Too many people, too crowded and not enough parking! If you do go, make sure to pay the parking fee as the penalty is expensive! You can hear the radio from the fire station everywhere and it's annoying. Head to spring lake or better yet Muir Woods for the best experience. People reported lots of car windows are often smashed. read more

I stumbled upon this place when I was trying to get a 10 mile training run in on the scary winding roads around the vineyards. What a blessing! I ended up getting my 10 miles in and spending most of my morning completely in awe of the scenery and awesome trails that I came across. Everyone that was out that morning smiled and said good morning, too, so the friendliness I was met with made it even better. Love! read more
