We visited Phoenix in late October, and looking for some outdoor adventures (particularly biking as im an avid mountain biker) and we found sonoran outdoor adventures. In pricing out multiple competitors, the for SOA seemed better than the rest for duration of the adventure (ours actually lasted 4.5hrs, and he gave us additional time to be able to see the full sunset and not have to rush out). Also, talking to Marek on the phone to set up the adventure was the best customer service experience I could expect. He was happy to answer all my questions, give recommendations, and overall helpful in every way. Being that I am used to full suspension bikes I was a little hesitant with the fat bikes, but since this adventure was totally different than my normal riding train of north Carolina I figured why not branch out. The fat bikes are perfect for the terrain! No need to suspension with those big ole tires! So much fun, and my wife enjoyed it as much as I did. Expectation was to have a guide that just led us through a park/ trail and maybe would take a photo of us with out phone. We were blown away with Mareks photography skills, and we came home with literally a whole photo session of around 70 photos that he took and posted online for us to download, and made sure to take us to the best scenic spots. I'm sure he catered the ride to us knowing that I wanted memorable experience with my wife on a private sunset ride (which was not even an extra charge!), but we were so amazed at what we got. Also, he was very knowledgeable on the wildlife and terrain, and gave us lots of interesting facts. Bottom line, you won't find a better deal, or better guide. I rarely write reviews, but when the experience is so unforgettable I had to chime in.... Seriously Marek is such a great guide. I have never before done a night desert bike trip and I have to tell you its a unique experience. Marek knows his trails so well... For example, when we as a group got a little exhausted he knew when to slow down and take a break and when to speed it up as well..... He is not only extremely knowledgeable about the area but also very passionate and professional about mountain biking sport. When we stopped by to rest he told stories, history and facts about the region, wild life.... etc.... In fact on our trip we had a chance to see rattle snake, coyote, tarantula spider and an owl. He is a funny guy as well.... My wife and I we moved to Arizona in 2006 and we have hiked the desert mountains many times.... but the sunset to night experience on fat tire mountain bikes takes the experience to a totally new level. If you are visiting Scottsdale and would like to experience something unique, this is definitely an attraction you do not want to skip. I visited Phoenix for a couple of days and found Sonoran Outdoor Adventures on google and was interested in an mountain bike tour since I had never done such a tour before. This was an amazing choice because the tour with Marek was well planned and he provided great instructions that were easy to follow even for someone who has never mountain biked before. We stopped multiple times to take some awesome pictures with the "Fat Bikes" and the desert terrain in the background. Marek is also very knowledgeable about the desert wildlife and vegetation and can provide you with interesting information about both. The landscape is absolutely beautiful and unique and Marek took me on multiple trails that were both very enjoyable and challenging. Depending on your level of fitness, he will adjust the tour to fit your needs so don't worry if you are not in the best shape. We cannot say enough about Marek and our incredible experience with Sonoran Outdoor Adventures! My husband, son and I just had our first fat bike experience exploring the Sonoran Preserve during our Arizona vacation last week and it was one of the top highlights of our trip. We had a wide variety of experience and skill in our group and Marek seamlessly adjusted and guided the tour so that everyone had their best experience. Our tour was scheduled for early in the morning from 7:00 11:00 AM and Marek called us the night before to confirm our meeting place and send us the googlemap link. We were in Scottsdale for a conference but wanted to get in a day in the great outdoors so contacted Sonoran Outdoor Adventures. So glad we did! My husband and I are road cyclists but have spent very little time on fat bikes and have never biked in the desert. Marek met us at the trailhead with everything we needed to have a fun day - bikes, helmets, water and even snacks. He made sure we were fitted properly on our bikes and we noted that he is first aid certified (not that we were planning on getting hurt but nice to know we were in good hands). I had the most fun on that ride than I've had in a very long time! Marek took us on trails that matched our ability levels - not too easy or too hard - and took pictures of us throughout the ride. He also answered my many questions about the local plants - so helpful! Nice to have a tour guide that was interested in giving us the best ride possible and we have pictures to prove it. My first time on a Fat Bike! I have lived in Arizona for years and love hiking and the outdoor activities this state offers. Mountain biking was always on my list of activities to try but it was something that I feared I would be terrible at. I had the best time with my girlfriends mountain biking with Sonoran Outdoor Adventures! To be honest, I didn't know if I had what it takes to mountain bike, but Mark's tips and the fat bikes made it easy and SO much fun!! I had no idea I would love it as much as I did. Mark was an awesome guide! His passion for riding and the outdoors was apparent and made our experience that much more special. I can't say enough about how well they set this trip up. I wasn't sure what to expect but everything from the equipment to the description of the topography to the routes we were taking, they really nailed it all. Now, keep in mind, this is mountain biking. They do their absolute best to make sure everyone is safe but skill levels vary from rider to rider. You have to know your own skill level before attempting this. With that said, they attempt to accommodate EVERY rider and they do a very good job of going at a pace you can handle. You will NOT be disappointed with this trip. It truly is a great adventure and the scenery is fantastic. I recommend the afternoon ride as you can get a great view of a sunset in the east valley. Marek is awesome. He was diligent in explaining all aspects of this my first fat tire experience which I will never forget. He was patient and approachable, plus took his time to ensure I had a once in a life time adventure. The equipment is state of the art and in great shape (wish I could say the same about me). Marek explained how to assemble the two tires, how to proceed in case of an accident, the rules of the nature preserve and every little question that I had to make me feel safe, comfortable and have fun like a kid again. I can't say enough great things about Marek the tour guide. I ended up being the solo adventurer and he made me feel very comfortable and at ease. Communication from the beginning to the end of the experience was fantastic. The trail ride was such a great workout and he let me go at my own pace, stopping to take lots of pictures and his great sense of humor made the challenging parts of the ride much smoother! My group of 8 booked a private morning tour on fat tire bikes. We had a great time with Marek and Tom as our guides. We had a wide range of biking ability in the group and they made sure to make the ride challenging enough for the top of the group and easy enough for the bottom. Marek took a huge number of photos which he sent to us just hours after we finished the tour. Tom was very knowledgeable about the local geography and plants, and the two of them together took very good care of our group. We spent a full three hours riding through some of the best scenery we saw on our trip. We booked several excursions on this trip, and this was by far our favorite. read more

I thought this was a great adventure for my family. A fun and different way to see the mountains and area of the desert in Arizona. I found that this was a great experience to have and I would absolutely recommend this to others. We did a private group for six- four teens and two parents. All agreed we'd do it again! Our guides Marek and Tom were awesome. They tailored the pace and distance to our group to keep it challenging and exciting, but not too difficult for anyone of us. Marek is great! This is not for the faint of heart. My wife and son turned back after 2 miles and took the short loop. That ended up- being a 5 mile loop. Marek took me back out and we did another 8-9 miles. The desert is beautiful! I saw kangaroo mice, rabbits, a scorpion, a tarantula. We could hear coyotes howling. I loved it! It was a steady gradual climb up to the top. The ride down was quick and easy. Nearly all downhill on a nice trail. We took it pretty quick and I loved it. Marek was great. he will ride any speed you desire....slow......medium....or ba__s to the wall! I would do this again in a heart beat! read more

We had a fantastic time on our desert bike ride at Brown's Ranch Trailhead. It was a challenging ride for a novice but so worth it! The views were breathtaking over the Sanoran Desert with the Sagaro and the giant boulders. Cathedral Rock was amazing and a great place for pictures. Our guide Matt made sure our entire group was taken care of and safe in the heat of the day. We went in the afternoon in 98 degree heat and I would recommend going in the morning. Sonoran Outdoor Adventures provided an outstanding experience for my teenage daughter and myself! We are both novice bikers and in fairly good shape. Marek provided a beautiful and challenging ride across 16 desert miles over 3.5 hours. There are 75 miles of trails to choose from and Marek used the first mile of trail to ascertain our skill and fitness levels. Absolutely the best!! My husband and I took 4 of our kiddos, ages 8 to 13, on a beginner mountain trip. It was awesome! This was one of the most fun adventures I've done in Phoenix. Our guide - Mark was experience, friendly and fun. He showed us the part of Desert which was absolutely beautiful.. Sonoran Outdoor Adventures provided us with brand new fat bikes, which were very comfortable. It was easy to ride them but at the same time it was a great exercise! We all enjoyed the fat bike tour.
