Never go to this salon.I went to this salon two times the nails looked somehow and I was in too much pain. I spoke to the lady who was scratching my nails that there is a cut. She actually cut my skin, as usually they speak in Chinese between them, she did not reply and kept saying okay okay. The next I had a big infection( fungus) I took antibiotic pills and cream. my thumb lost its original nai. I believe their stuff are not sterilized and also they use unprofessional staff.I will rate them in minus. Close the salon and get enough training. read more

Update: I have now been coming here for well over a year. I can say their pedicures and manicures are excellent. They listen to their customers and take their time with you. I like to come early in the morning to avoid waiting. However, If you call and make an appointment they will see you right away. Older review: Great service. Extremely friendly staff. Most important they take their time and make sure your manicure comes out perfect. I have super short nails right now and they came out great. My cuticles were done perfectly. I am super happy and will be returning. Sunday around noon was busy so I had to wait about 45 mins. However Tina did say to call before hand and that way I woukdnt have to wait. I could be given a time to show up. I will try that next time. I look forward to seeing how well they do pedicures. read more

Took my daughter here when she came to visit from Toronto. We were not happy with her "marbled" nails. It was like a sticker but they did a horrible job on all 4 fingers and at 5 bucks a finger...and they didn't even try to take it off to fix them. She just put a top coat on and sent us home. The nails were not fully covered on one hand and her left hand which another girl did had little holes in it. Disappointed Is all I can say. and I asked for my nails to not be thick...but I got thick. I won't be back unfortunately. read more

My friend recommended this place to me after I had a bad shellac manicure at another nail salon. I walked in with my shellac in shambles, and they fixed me up right away. They were mildly insulted at the state of my nails and demanded who had done to this me. Everyone who works there is awesome, Everyone's friendly, chatty, and the two times I've been there now, the conversation has run the full gamut. The second time I went, I decided to get a full set of acrylics done because my fingernails kept breaking and peeling. It only cost 35 dollars, which I found to be a pretty low price. One thing to keep in mind is that even though you can use the debit/credit machine to pay for the work done, they do prefer that tips to the various nail technicians be given in cash. I myself try to tip the way I would a good waiter in a restaurant, though I don't generally know what is thought of as customary. I'm a 20% girl most times. They will make suggestions and may try to upsell a bit, but stand firm on what you want done. These are your hands, and they'll go along with what it is you want in the end. SO far, both times I've gone, I've been incredibly satisfied and pleased with the service and quality of craftmanship there. The place is very sanitary, bright and sunny, and the bathrooms are clean as well. It has a hair salon/barbershop type of feel to it, and all the customers usually end up chatting with one another as well. Friendliness REALLY goes a long way. read more

I work in a building that's a 10 minute walk from Sophia Nails. I decided that on my 60 minute lunch break I would stop in and ask how long it would take to get a refill on my acrylic nails, knowing that I had only 40 minutes. The person at the front desk guaranteed that it would only take 30. Perfect! I should have known better... Once I was sitting across from the nail technician, I checked with her to make sure she knew I was on a time crunch. I proceeded to follow up every 10 minutes: "I have X amount of time left". 50 minutes later, I'm late for work and not to mention my nails look awful. Everyone who works there was very sweet and I'm sure the results would have been different if I had more time. However, I'm irritated that they promised it would take thirty minutes and proceeded to take DOUBLE the time, almost an hour, when I made it clear from the start that I only had a certain amount of time. If you realize "shoot, it's going to take longer than expected," the least you can do is either let me know or give me an alternative option and make it work so that I can get back to my job on time. Additionally, it was not until I got to the front desk to pay that I was told they only take cash tips (yes, I was going to tip despite the irritating service). So that's just something to note. Been coming here for a few months. Place is clean and there's parking which is very convenient, however, I cannot stand rude people. I asked nail technician to be more cautious and precise to avoid injuries or getting scratches with sharp acrylic which is not being filed properly. Technician got upset and told me I was free to go with someone else if I didn't like his job. read more

I entered the salon with hopes that the would be able to fix the horrible job that high class nails did on my nails and cuticles. I came really close to closing time but the still accepted me. I was promptly seated and taken care of by one of the workers. She looked at my nails in horror because of the disgusting they looked from the previous place. She assured me that she could fix this and I was ecstatic. She literally spent 15-20 minutes grinding off the shellac and acrylic that was so bumpy and thick from the other salon and by the end there was literally a mountain of residue left. She spent so much time on my cuticles unlike the other place and she made she fixed every since spot on my nails. She was honestly amazing and so so precise and detail orientated. I absolutely love my nails now and would recommend this place to everyone I know. read more

Discovered this place by mistake actually. I was in Ottawa for work again and really wanted and needed a mani and pedi. I came across this place when I was searching on Yelp and discovered that it was really, really close to my Ottawa office. So after work, I came here to see if I can get a mani and pedi. They take walk-ins. I really liked that they have the massage chairs as they are doing your pedi. I just got a regular mani and pedi and I have to say I really liked the service and the price was very affordable for a man, pedi combo. The only thing is you have to be patient as the ladies here, their English isn't that good. But, they are super friendly and super nice. I would definitely come back next time that I am working in Ottawa. read more

Sophia Nails went above and beyond!!! Two days before my wedding, I was supposed to go with my bridesmaids to Spa Utopia. There was a miscommunication and Spa Utopia did nothing to accommodate us. We called Sophia Nails at 4pm and they were willing to take all 4 of us at 6pm. We got there (they were busy) and they put all 4 of us together in chairs! They were friendly, did a wonderful job with all of us. I would say they gave me the BEST french manicure I have ever had, and treated me to a little fun sticker on my nail as I was the bride. They close at 7 and stayed till 8:30 to make sure we all looked beautiful. I will definitely be going back to Sophia Nails and strongly recommend others go too! read more

This place is terrible. Got a full set of acrylic nails. I don't even know what to say because I have never been so disappointed in my young and fruitful life. The place had an all around scary vibe. Not to mention the location in a seedy strip mall. My nails turned out horrible. I showed the lady a picture of what I had wanted and she butchered it completely. Also, her nail painting skills were horrifically sub par. There is nail polish all over my cuticles. Will not be returning. read more

Most awful experience I've ever had getting my nails done. I went to get my nails done for engagement pictures because my usual place was booked. I asked for something very common : an acrylic set, oval shaped. I came out of there with my nails being different shapes, different lengths and my thumbs looked like crooked blobs. She hadn't even taken care of my cuticules or made sure my nails were fully covered with nail polish (which they weren't). I walked out very unhappy but I am the type of person who has a hard time speaking up for myself - scared to hurt people's feelings. I drove home feeling so upset because I had expected getting great service according to these reviews. My sister convinced me to go back and tell them I was unsatisfied. The lady took off the acrylic asking me over and over again why I didn't say anything in the first place, making feel like a terrible person. She then showed me the door and REFUSED to give me my money back. I cannot believe that someone could ever treat someone so badly. I am a hard working student who works very hard for her money and it absolutely kills me to think that I threw away 40$. Any good business would have made me feel comfortable and given me my money back - or at least offered me to colour my nails or give me a free nail treatment... I definitely do no recommend this place to anyone. read more
