ALL staff here has been really awesomeI am very thankful for that. We've had very good experiences with our neighbors as well. We had some maintenance issues, but it was addressed quickly and effectively. The staff also does a great job keeping the property maintained, and it has always been exceptionally well-kept. I do wish in the future there could be more security in the garage because I had items stolen off my car. Though, this is rampant everywhere now! I recently moved into Sophia Square after downsizing from a house on the Southside of Indy and I am LOVING it! I've dreamed of living in this building for years, and it did not disappoint. Having so many shops and restaurants, along with the Monon, close by is amazing. First off, the units are stunning! High ceilings, nice granite countertops, and beautiful views from all sides of the building. We chose the Barcelona unit and it's gorgeous. The amenities here are awesome too. The club house is beautiful and has plenty of space and can accommodate multiple groups of people. There's also a movie theater that we haven't used yet, but looks really cool! Ahhh...and the pool area! I'll be counting down the months until it opens. It's very modern and is nicely closed off from the rest of the courtyard. The huge bonus about living here is the parking garage. Most apartment buildings like this make you pay for parking, but Sophia Square offers it for free. It is a public garage, but I haven't had any issues finding a spot. To top it off, the staff here made moving day a breeze. The building has a loading dock near a freight elevator. The leasing office let us borrow a cart to help move our things. read more

4/25/19 Please note at least two of the complimentary reviews emphasizing the friendliness and proficiency of the staff were indeed, written by the staff. Unsure whether these reviews should be considered unbiased and taken seriously. -current biased tenant 9/12/19 Here is what happened upon trying to work with staff. I was very irritated to be asked if I had further questions, as clearly there were no questions asked. This was strictly a reporting of an incident that was not taken seriously whatsoever. Happy to have washed my hands of this place. This "expert maintenance man" reacted to every comment I had as if he just came from a Dead concert. I'm not gonna call him out for being high at 1:30 am, but if he wasn't, he was the most obtuse POS I've ever encountered. PS it took two calls to get him to ever call me back. After I got so hurt I had to call the fire department because he clearly was incompetent, did he finally show up. 4/23/19 From: susanbrown4@sbcglobal.net As a continuation of our conversation a moment ago regarding why I was so upset with maintenance, this is what happened while on the phone with him as he struggled to tell me how to silence the alarms. I fell off the ladder while he was talking me through reaching up to unscrew them. I fell off my ladder, landed on an expensive bunch of mercury glass accessories onto my expensive Pottery Barn table and could not breathe for quite a period of time. His constant tone of being taken aback at every development made me realize he would be of no help in this matter which got a lot more serious when I got hurt. Plus I would not have been on the ladder if I wasn't listening to him in the first place. What I want from this is recognition of the incompetent way this was handled, and the fact that I was really injured in this incident. I also believe it's important to be proactive rather than reactive where notification needs to be made to the tenants on what to do when that happens so they're not relying on multiple calls to emergency services that are not met with an emergency response. 4/23/19 Hi Susan, We did talk to Clinton, our on call maintenance rep and he did inform us that he received your call and called you back. After speaking to you on the phone he determined to make a site visit. Once onsite he did take care of your detector and learned that you had also reached out to 911 for assistance. Best location to live (hands down) in downtown Carmel. Leasing Center staff is great. There are so many restaurants within walking distance. There's a spa within the building as well as a gym. Parking is wonderful! It's garage parking so no more shoveling of snow during the winter. It's right next to the Monon so you can walk, bike or go people watching while eating at Bub's which is across the street. The amenities are fabulous. They have a movie theater, wii station, clubhouse with free wifi, business center, conference room, pool, and a virtual golf. read more

I have had an amazing experience living at Sophia Square! The area is fun and exciting. The staff is always ready to help and always very nice. The parking garage is public, but they always inform you about that when you move in and they also tell you when the events are taking place in the area! (You always want to go to the events anyways so you should not have to leave at all) The apartment is beautiful and I love the finishes. This area and apartment has been great for me, my fiance, and my dog. Would definitely recommend to anyone looking to live in the Carmel area! read more

Really enjoyed my time here. Staff was nice and great to work with. Location is fantastic with so many things within walking distance. Only issues I had were in the winter. I could feel the cold air coming in through the glass. Parking was a pain as more people coming into the area used the garage. Not sure what the plan is going forward but having an assigned spot sure would have been nice. read more

Sophia Square is anyone's worst nightmare! They have done me so wrong since I have lived here. First of all, the elevators are out constantly. Maintenance is horrible. I got locked INSIDE my apartment for nearly one hour and maintenance couldn't even get me out. They had me pull the screws out on the inside of the lock and that did not work. They had to drill the lock off to finally get me out. I'm getting ready to move after being here for nearly one year and two months ago someone who cares nothing about being a good neighbor, moved in above me. They are horrible! They stomp when they walk, slam cupboard doors and drop things constantly. Worst experience I have ever had. The hallways are filthy from all the horse-sized animals living here who bark constantly and smell up the hallways. Then, sometimes as early as 4:30 AM, I am awaken by semi trucks that pull up outside my window at least four times a week. They unload things for the restaurant downstairs and they leave their motors run for about an hour and then their refrigeration motor also runs for the entire time - while they run their dolly up and down the truck ramp for the entire hour. I also smell diesel fuel coming through my bedroom window whenever these trucks sit outside running their motor for an hour. It has been a living hell living at Sophia Square. I could have gotten out of my lease because of the elevators not being operable so many time, but my new home was not ready. Do not move here if you can avoid it. I can't even sit in my living room anymore because of the horrible noisy neighbor upstairs. I feel that I am paying for a studio apartment instead of a one bedroom apartment. The only way that I can survive the noise from upstairs is to just stay in my small bedroom. I could go on and on about this terrible place. Don't move here because you will be very sorry. read more

I moved to Sophia Square for the location from Fishers. I can tell you my experience in Fishers isn't even comparable to what my experience has been living in Sophia - my apartment in Fishers was BRAND NEW and still a couple hundred less than Sophia. The elevators break down constantly, as in at least once a week. The pool is cloudy and the rules are not followed there. The parking garage floods. I was also accused of and received a violation for not cleaning up after my dog when I ALWAYS PICK UP AFTER HER. She is a puppy and potty training so yes there have been accidents - that is bags are attached to her leash. I do enjoy being on the Monon and I love the people that live in Sophia but I can't wait until our lease is up in January! We are going to Avant! And as far as your "updates" are going. im disappointed that I need to even write this review. We were so excited about moving into this place. The leasing office are nice and helpful. The esthetics of the property is gorgeous. The area gorgeous and safe. Love the high ceiling in our loft. The view of the courtyard. Neighbors are pleasant. Great dining within walking distance. Lots of natural lighting. Maintenance is quick. But that's as far as it gets. Let's begin with the garage: we were never told and or offered the paid parking. I actually remember the agent/manager Lori mentioning, "as many vehicles as you want." Then we moved in and noticed that the high school kids would park and takeover the garage. Not to mention never pay attention to the exit and enter signs. After work hours the garage is completely full and you have to drive around until someone leaves or park outside until 9. That's when people clear out. Not to mention on the weekends or events. No parking and consumers don't respect the paid parking spaces. The park in them anyway. You see neighbors putting signs on the cars,"don't park." Or leaving cones. The drunks vomit all over the place. It's cleaned up after a few weeks. Next our apartment is next to the electrical room. No, it was never mentioned to us. But we discovered it the first night in. Our apartment vibrates. We hear and feel it more during certain times(mainly evenings). When you hear the win glasses dancing in the kitchen. You know the power is being used. We're not sure we're the eco friendly in the actual apartment is. But for "luxury living" it's pretty basic. Rods in the closets, No fans in the bathrooms, basic materials used. But everything is nice. Once a month the have a company come and clean the exhaust and something else for the dining downstairs. HOWEVER, our apartment must be the hub for everything. LET ME MENTION THAT WE WERE NEVER TOLD ABOUT THIS! From about midnight to 5:00am we can hear men yelling down to the courtyard at their co-workers. Machines going on and off all night. Heavy feet walking back and fourth. We can literally hear everything. Soon zero sleep before work because we have to listen to this. We mentioned it not once, or twice but three times now. We're really confused at how this seems normal to the leasing office. And, how this wasn't mentioned in our lease or at all during the move in. Looking at our ceiling trying to figure out why we're paying rent to listen to someone's work shift above our heads. And, they clearly don't care. The pool area is great and especially the grills. The indoor lounge area smells like a diaper has been lost and can't be found. It didn't smell that way when we moved in a few months back. But we're shocked that the scent is still in there. We won't meet our friends in there because of it. Elevators carpets should be cleaned often. Between the pets accidents and drunk people. It's not always fresh in them. Trash rooms are always a hot mess. My husband tried tried to help stack and organize the recycle section when we first moved in. But then we received a call that the maintenance wanted him to take it down to the trash room(instead of asking if it's ours) we started taking ours to the recycling center down Keystone. It's just to full in there. The location is perfect but we can't wait to exit. As much as you pay here. A little consideration would go a long way. read more

I have been living at Sophia Square since July and I love it. The leasing staff was one of the main reason why I decided to lease. They were so helpful and knowledgeable about everything and were always happy to help. They were quick to respond which really made my moving experience as easy as possible. You cannot beat the location, with stores, restaurants, and the Monon Trail right outside of your front door. Now that they have renovated the courtyard, it is amazing! They have made it a great place to lounge and relax, especially next to the new fireplace that was installed. My apartment is great, and is the perfect amount of space I need. The apartment is the nicest one I have had yet with all of the fantastic finishes. Overall I am very happy I chose Sophia Square! I would suggest Sophia Square to anyone looking for a new apartment home! read more

I have been living in Sophia Square for a month now and I love it. I contacted the staff with a last minute move in request and they were absolutely amazing and did everything they could to help me and get me in an apartment when I needed to be. I am so grateful for the excellent service and support they provided in getting me into a unit and one that suited my requests. My apartment looks out over the Monon and I love it. The apartment was in great condition when I moved in. I've had a few minor maintenance requests which have been addressed promptly. I love that there are so many restaurants and amenities within walking distance and I love stepping outside the building for daily walks on the Monon. I'm self-employed and love being able to reserve the conference room for conference calls and webinars. The courtyard and amenities room all have wifi and it's really enjoyable to get a change of scenery and sit in these areas to work. Yes, sometimes, an elevator doesn't work. However, this is always addressed right away. I looked at a ton of apartments in Indianapolis before moving here and I can say that this is the best maintained building that I have seen. Plus, I've had such a nice experience with other residents. People are very friendly and polite and greet one another and whenever I have my hands full, a kind neighbor always holds the door for me and selects the floor in the elevator for me. Overall, whether in the building, walking the Monon, dining or shopping nearby I feel a real sense of community and love the kindness, beauty and vibe of this area. It's the closest I've felt in the Indianapolis area to how I feel when I'm living in some European cities. And even though I have not participated yet, I love that there are special events for the residents. Everyone that has visited me so far has loved the building, location and amenities. Piles and piles of dog feces as you step outside, the daily slam-bang of dumpsters being emptied as early as 6am that goes on for at least 10 minutes outside your window, the smell of those dumpsters permeating the hallways and elevators, the drunk patrons stumbling out of the three bars within a block from each other, neighbors slamming their doors at all hours, electronic locks that won't open, exterior doors and service elevators that stay open allowing any to waltz in, a public garage that many people in the area use to store their vehicles increasing your competition for parking with all the restaurant patrons... these are the joys that await you as a resident of Sophia Square. And now they are adding additional street level residences right next to the restaurants! Some of these units share a wall with a commercial kitchen! I can hear my neighbors talk on the phone in my bedroom for goodness sake. This place is not cheap. You'll come on a tour and see the amenities center and think "wow" this might be worth it. Well, the pool cues are all warped and broken (they're just cheaply glued together things) and the table has warps and tears, the golf simulator has not worked properly the entire time I've lived here, and there are some residents regularly there who act as if it is their personal living room. There are computers, but at the time of this writing only one of them is working and someone was using it when my wife went down to print something. The truth is you'll probably spend very little time there, but it does show well. We've used it to host friends and family on three occasions, and it was very nice. The usability of our apartment is lacking too. There aren't enough outlets in the kitchen, and one of them is used up by a carbon monoxide detector that must remain plugged in. The light switches in the bedrooms control outlets on the far side of the room from the door, except that's likely where you'd put your bed so your floor lamps (must have since no overhead light in bedrooms) are on the opposite wall. I've had my water heater bust, the dishwasher leaking, utility room doors that won't stay shut, a bedroom that won't get warm because there's just no warm air coming out of the vent, a bedroom door that sticks, and an unsolved odor mystery that occasionally makes a walk-in closet smell awful (we run an air filter 24/7). The water is so hard that we had to stop using the dishwasher for a while. The water quality varies a lot; we have to use a Brita filter and even at that there is a often a strong chlorine odor and chalky, metallic flavor. The maintenance folks are really capable and helpful. They are responsive and polite. The leasing staff are friendly and empathetic. The location is good and bad. Lots of things within walking distance seems like a good thing, and it really is, but with that comes crowds and cars (wish they would enforce the speed limit on Main St), and the incessant smell of hamburgers pouring out of Bub's 7 days a week. Also, there are _so_ many dogs with irresponsible owners; the Monon around here has hardly any grass left from their urinating, and there are piles of poo on the trail itself and much more just off of it. I guess they figure for about $1500/month, they shouldn't have to pick up after their dogs. So, living here is really a mixed bag. I was leaning toward three stars, but when they started putting in street-level apartments instead of getting more businesses in here, I realized it wasn't about building community to the owner of the building, but just making as much money as possible. A small grocery store with vegetables is sorely needed, for example. The street-level retail and restaurants are more important amenities than a five-year-old Wii. read more

Sophia Square is a by far the ideal place to live. The apartments are spacious with a lot of options for storage. I'm also in love with my kitchen. Having the Monon Trail as well as multiple shops and restaurants within walking distance makes it the perfect location. The staff has been extremely helpful and quick to respond and all my maintenance issues are taken care of right away. The amenities center is a beautiful place to entertain with lots of options including a golf simulator, full kitchen, and movie theater. I'm glad I chose to live at Sophia Square and don't plan on moving out any time soon. read more
