I came in with no reservation on a Friday afternoon because most salons in Ann Arbor required an appointment, and Sophie took me in. I'm so glad she did because she's very good, friendly, chatty, and knowledgeable with hair and helped me pick a color that would be maintainable for someone who'd never dyed their hair before! I got red-violet balayage and then decided to also get my bangs trimmed and get some layers. My mom has been my primary hair cutter and stylist throughout my life so this was a nice change-of-pace. I've been growing my hair for more then three years, I went to get it trimmed and it was originally was down to my butt. I asked just for a trim and now my hair is to my hip and my bangs are above my eyebrows I still paid her and gave a tip I don't know why. my hair is extremely important and means very much to me I also have prom in three days so this is more then extremely disappointing and I couldn't stop balling my eyes out, my bangs where slightly covering my eyes and now they are above my eyebrows I wish I never had came here. read more

I let Sophie talk me into doing a keratin treatment instead of the Brazilian blowout that I wanted to have. This treatment left my hair feeling terrible! My ends are dry and brittle and no matter how many times I asked her to please be gentle with my hair she pulled and tugged and used intense heat on my hair. I am very disappointed and will never allow anyone to do that to my hair again. I went in there with healthy hair and now feel that it will take me months to get back to where I was. read more

HORRIBLE RESULT AND CUSTOMER SERVICE. I went in to color my hair a darker shade of red, and what resulted was PURPLE ON THE TOP. She tried to convince me that was what I wanted, put another product in it, and I left with my hair three different colors - purple, and a somewhat green shade. I came in to get bangs. That's all. It was impulsive, and honestly my only criteria was a salon that had an appointment open the next day and had good reviews. One of my friends also wanted a trim, so we booked appointments together. This place was absolutely wonderful. Our third friend that was with us was so impressed that she ended up deciding to get a haircut as well. Sophie is so sweet. It was quiet and relaxing, and she had an uncanny ability to pick up on our personalities and turn our "just a trim" into a style that reflects our personality. I ended up coming back less than 5 hours later to turn my not great dye job into a wonderful dye job. She is so sweet and I think we all three found our new go - to hair place. read more

One of the most challenging aspects of moving to a new town is finding a new hair stylist. After checking reviews, I decided to go visit with Sophie. Suffice it to say I was very happy with that decision. The salon is smart, clean, and well organized. Sophie is extremely professional, and there was lots of communication about my goals and what she was doing to help me get the look I needed (given the raw material available!). The unprofessional behavior from this nail salon continues. Despite the fact that she claims "100% satisfaction guarantee," this is completely false. Sophie apparently calls every negative review "defamatory." To be clear, my husband (who booked and paid for the appointment as a surprise gift) followed up with a complaint the very day after my service. With no response from Sophie, we submitted a second message several days later, explaining that I would post a negative review of my experience, if there was no response and refund. This is exactly what I've done, and this 1 star review is completely warranted. I never claimed that there was bleeding, only a painful cut (deep along the edge of my big toe nail, and a second smaller cut on another toe), which I only noticed hours after the service when my big toe was throbbing. This pain continued for several days as the cut healed. I certainly have no interest in returning for a "correction service." Also, I had dry shoes when I left the salon because I brought a second pair of sandals. Good thing too, because Sophie spilled dirty pedi water all over my flats. Terrible customer service. Sophie ignores valid customer complaints and then acts like a bully in response to negative reviews online. Once again, I recommend that you go elsewhere for your mani/pedi needs. read more

Sophie saved me! I was in MI last weekend for a wedding. I have balayage and I thought I can fix my roots last minute by myself. Long story shorty I ended up with black top of my head while the rest was Carmel blond/ brown. I looked desperately who would take me last minute on a Saturday couple hrs before the wedding. Sophie is an artist with hair. Her cuts are always beautiful. In fact, I normally would get my hair done more frequently because my hair gets split ends and the style won't grow out perfectly. But with Sophie, I get my hair cut much less frequently because it stays healthy for a really long time and the style grows out and looks beautiful. Her cuts are worth every penny, her products are all organic... she's just the best I've found in town by far and she's got a great personality. Go see her, you won't regret it. read more
