We went on a Friday night with reservation and it was actually fairly quiet. Even though we were seated in a seemingly secluded section, our server, Felix, was never too far away. He was very attentive and provided good recommendations. If I had to sum up my experience, it would be Otoro tuna sashimi--it's such a buttery cut of tuna!! I could've had a whole meal of just the tuna nigiri. While the tuna maki was good with the crispy fried leeks and spicy powder, the delicateness of the tuna might not shine as much. We ranked the salmon and kampachi sashimi in second and third place. As for the torched salmon nigiri, it was good with the crispy garlic and terriyaki glaze but not life changing. For 2 medium eaters, we had 16 pieces of sushi plus 9 pieces of sashimi and it was just enough. As for the drinks, the Bridgetown Swizzle needed a bit of doctoring. I could barely taste any ginger but Felix was kind enough to offer me a chase of ginger beer or syrup to make it stronger. Ginger beer did the trick! There's a TON of crushed ice though which watered down the drink quite quickly. Keep in mind that dining on the 45th floor of 1 Place Ville Marie comes at a premium. The food was quite good, but was it extraordinary? It's a unique place with a relaxing vibe to take a date or girls' night. The view is pretty amazing but you'll see part of the roof of the floor below depending where you're sitting and it does block a bit of the lower view. Bonus was the free coat check at the entrance.

Miammmmm it was divine and so fresh !

You walk in and there's a clothing store on one side and black curtains straight ahead. I just stood there confused for a second until someone suddenly appeared and escorted me through the curtains, down a long dark hallway, and into this intimate, dimly lit bar. Turns out, I had accidentally stumbled into a speakeasy. The space is tiny--maybe 6-8 seats at the bar and a long banquet along the wall for 10-12 more people. No menus either. They ask what you like and don't like, then craft a cocktail specifically for you. The pours are generous and the bar is stocked with top-shelf liquor. About a drink and a half in, I realized I needed actual food immediately and had to leave. The staff was friendly, personable, and chatty, and because the space is so intimate, you naturally end up talking with the people around you. Definitely more of a solo or date-night spot than a group hang. Such a cool, unexpected experience.

I'm a fan of cocktail bars, and after reading up on this spot I made it my intention to check it out. It just so happened that it was a short walk from my hotel, so we decided to check it out one night before heading to dinner. The Cloakroom is a speakeasy, nestled behind a hidden door in a men's clothing shop. In the line of being a speakeasy, the space is small - there are only 24 seats but since we got there right at opening we were seated right away. The space is dark and intimate, with the bottles of liquor lit up behind the bar providing an attractive focal point. One of the more unique features of the bar is that there's no menu; we told our server the types of liquors we wanted along with the flavor notes and they crafted a cocktail based on our tastes. We ultimately had two rounds; my first drink was vodka-based and fruity, while I went with something gin-based and dryer. Both were very good - there's little fanfare with presentation; the bartenders let the drinks speak for themselves. Service was great; due to the setup, each patron is given extra attention which really highlighted the experience. Overall, I really enjoyed my time at The Cloakroom Bar. This was definitely a unique experience with excellent curated drinks. I would definitely return the next time I'm in Montreal.

Being the Montreal Gran Prix weekend, the city exploded with crowds making it difficult to find a place with a patio and seating outside. Determined to succeed we found this place with the last table for two on the patio available. We were thrilled, as this place not only delivered in that department it was highly rated on Yelp. The place was bustling with patrons inside and out, but the service was outstanding with quick delivery of much needed beer with our food shortly there after. Bar Dominion is not just a bar with a long list of cocktails and a few beers, they have a nice selection of seafood and small plates. The menu here is not your typical "bar" food selection, but a selection one would find on a bistro menu. I ordered the Petite Bourgogne beer, which is a local red beer that was crisp and fresh. The Lobster Roll was the item that stood out for me and I'm glad I ordered it as it was super fresh and delicious. The buttery roll was perfect with the well seasoned lobster garnished with chives. The portions are also just right. The inside atmosphere was off the rails with an upscale atmosphere and the patio was quite different with atmosphere more suitable for conversation with ease. I really enjoyed this place and glad we accidentally discovered it. The only thing I regret is not trying one of their cocktails, as I learned after that the cocktails were created by a renowned mixologist, Andrew Whibely from Cloakroom Bar fame. This explains the very short offerings of beers.

Tucked away with a beautiful terrasse in the back, it's the kind of place you'd almost miss--but absolutely shouldn't. The service was fantastic from start to finish--attentive, warm, and genuinely welcoming without ever feeling overbearing. The food was equally impressive. Everything we tried was delicious and thoughtfully prepared, with portions that are just right. The beef and mushroom tartare was a standout--rich, flavorful, and perfectly balanced--and the braised lamb cavatelli was simply outstanding. The lemon tiramisu for dessert was the best ive ever had. Overall, a fantastic experience. Can't wait to come back!
